  • Join me as I review and shoot the Beretta Model 87 Cheetah in 22 long rifle. We give this beautiful pistol an overview, including information on the Beretta 81 series of pistols. We also compare it to the Browning BDA in 380 acp which was produced by Beretta as a near copy of the Model 84. We shoot some CCI Standard Velocity, Norma Tac-22, CCI Mini-Mag 40 grain target and 36 grain ammunition and compare their groupings.

    The mod 87 is a rare and sought-after pistol. I'd love to have one, but the prices they command are always out of my price range. I have a Beretta model 81 BB that I really enjoy shooting. Pretty much the same gun in 32 ACP. Gander Mountain Outdoors had them for just over $200 with tax a few years ago in 99% condition so I had to have one. Both your Beretta 87 and Browning BDA are absolutely beautiful examples that will continue to rise in value.

      Thank you for watching Mr. Browning! I wish I had been able to get my hands on one of those model 81s. 32 acp is such a fun round to shoot! Seems like now and then some police trade-in come over from random European agencies. Lets hope some more show up!

    Nice review of an excellent Beretta. I also have the model 87. Really enjoy shooting it. In my opinion, it is one of the best production 22 pistol made. The quality is excellent. I purchased when prices were reasonable. Now even used ones command a premium. I also find that CCI mini-mags perform the best as far as accuracy is concerned. Although it never fails with other loads of 22. I like the 87 so much that I have a total of three. One to shoot and two for the collection. The 81 BB, 81fs, and model 84fs are also excellent Beretta pistols.

      Thanks for watching Rick! You have a wonderful collection. Those are great collectible pistols and there is just something elegant about all the Model 80's. Sports cars and pistols, those Italians really know how to make beautiful ones.

    You sure have some nice guns! One of my friends carried the Beretta .380ACP version off-duty. My partner in Fugitive carried the Browning DBA .380ACP as we chased dopers on warrants. We came pretty close a couple times to seeing how it performed "on the street," but he had plenty of command presence and we always completed the arrest without the application of deadly force. I do have to say that the Browning DBA was about one of the prettiest little guns, with spectacular bluing and beautiful wood grips.

      Glad you never had to deal with the ordeal which is any officer involved shooting. Shows your skill that you never had to resort to deadly force.
      I love the look of Berettas and this was one of the pistols my father always wanted to get. A couple of years after his passing this one came on the market used and I bought it in his honor. But it is a great pistol to train newbies on semi-auto pistols.

    The beretta model 87t mags fit in the 87 and are 10 rounds. The 87t mags also have a larger butt plate on the mag which give you extra length on the handgrip. Love this gun.

    Nice video of a VERY NICE PISTOL, nicest double action 22lr pistol made ANYWHERE!!! I guess I'm blessed even though I've had a bit of a ROUGH TIME earlier!! I did purchase one of the Beretta 87bb back in the 1980's at a gunshow in Charlotte, NC for $350 BRAND NEW, LUCK DOG, LUCKY DOG!!! Then in 2008 I got LAID OFF and UNFORTUNATELY I had to sell most of my TOYS!!!😮😢😢 I had a really nice collection of Beretta 22lr pistols (70s, 71 Jaguar, 74, 76W, 87bb and 948-6" late production, 948-4" very early production) I sold them ALL😂EXCEPT the 71 Jaguar (early model) and the 76W!!! I was still HIGHLY UPSET about selling most of my Beretta 22lr collection!!! It took me more than 10 years to get back on my feet and start collecting AGAIN!!! I recently had a FIRE in my BEDROOM at 3AM which was HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE and dealing with the insurance company was a NIGHTMARE!!! Am turning 72 shortly and don't know how much longer I have so I'm trying to make up for LOST TIME COLLECTING AGAIN!!! I got a 87bb about 4 years ago and a couple of weeks ago got a 87 Target pistol which is COOL especially since the frames are the same for the 87bb and 87 Target I can use the 87bb mags (4 of them) in the 87 Target (2) or vice versa!!!😮😊😊 UNFORTUNATELY I'm not sure where my Beretta 71 and the 2 extra barrels are (3.5" and 6"), after the FIRE at my house I had to store the TOYS that were not damaged by the fire were stored at a friend's house for more than 1 and a half years while dealing with the insurance company!!! 😢😢 I'M doing better NOW!!!😊😊😊 Beretta makes some REALLY NICE 22LR PISTOLS and I'm NOT talking about it LITTLE TINY ones the ones that are Walther PP and PPK SIZE!!!!😊😊😊

      I agree that Beretta makes some wonderful rimfire pistols. I would love to have gotten my hands on a model 87 Target.
      I hope you live many, many more years and have time to increase your collection and have fun shooting all those great guns! Take care and stay safe.

    Very nice review! I have a Beretta 70S 22lr; save for its steel frame vs. Al frame it is the same pistol as the model 71 that the Israeli Air Marshals and the Mossad used to good effect in the 1970's. The model 70 line 22's were also 8 shot, but single action. Mine has NEVER had a malfunction.
    The Browning BDA 380 is in fact a Beretta model 84 with a few differences (ejection port, decocker), with many interchangeable parts. It is a very reliable and accurate pistol.

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots  Год назад +1

      Thanks for kind words Thomas. Those model 70s are classic pistols. They have that "cloak and dagger" look and feel. I've been fortunate enough to handle one but not lucky enough to add one to my collection.
      As for the BDA, I still get the urge to get a model 84. However the nickle of the BDA does pair up well with the nickle hi-power that I inherited. Plus it's technically my wife's gun since I bought it for her and she does enjoy shooting it.

    Another pistol or two. Think I'll stick with my LVT for now. Still never really tried it. Been windy all month. Yesterday had a storm with high winds at 20+mph. Was really great weather last month but my Ruger been sitting since then. Saw some news bout TX w/record heat. 😳 But looks like you seem ok there. You can fire with them sights.

      Thanks for watching Zebracherub! The 87 is a great little pistol. Not too small though, it fits well in my hand. It is very comparable to the other models in the 80's series. So if the any of the others in that series fit your hand well, this one should too.

    Mine gives me light strikes with any ammo, about every other magazine or so. Brand new out of the box. Frankly an infuriating pistol. It would be excellent if it actually worked reliably.

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots  2 года назад +1

      That must be terribly frustrating. Especially for a new one out of the box. As I stated in my video, I purchased mine used a few years ago. Maybe you got a defective hammer spring or something similar. I'm sure Beretta would take care if it, although you will have to go through the hassle of sending it off.

    • @joffeloff
      @joffeloff 2 года назад +1

      @@texmexshoots I don't doubt Beretta would, but it has to go via the retailer, and the retailer is slow as molasses - so I am not inclined to send it off only for it to sit on a shelf for a year. Trying to figure it out on my own, considering taking out the firing pin safety as the gun will not be carried anyway.
