Hi. You used the same old pulley on the new power steering pump. HOW do you know if the actual pulley needs to be replaced or not as well??? Thank you.
Hey thanks for watching and commenting I really appreciate it. The pulley is just a wheel that comes off of the power steering pump and as long as it’s not bent, cracked, broken, or worn you can reuse it. Just make sure to inspect it well when you get it off the old pump. The actual pulley wheel rarely goes bad but it’s possible. Hope you subscribe!
hell yes. good video bro. very detailed. "you gotta finagle it" haha. btw, do you happen to know the torque value on the pulley nut? and do you have to bleed the air out of the power steering system afterwards?

@@Flacomijito hey thanks for watching. It’s hard to say without having the vehicle in front of me to troubleshoot because it could be the pump or your tensioner pulley or a loose belt causing the noise so it’s hard to say friend.

@@ucanfixit1 Appreciate it. There's a ratting noise coming from my engine bay (07 Accord 2.4l). It matches engine rpm. My mechanic told me it was the serpentine belt tensioner. If i could send you a video, would you be able to give your opinion?
Is it possible that the fluid in my ‘03 Accord just needs to be replaced as opposed to the entire pump? Steering isn’t terrible, but it’s starting to get bad.

@@mikeike7114 yes it matters! You have to do this when the vehicle is on and don’t hold it too long to either side just a couple seconds or so because you will blow your power steering pump or hoses.
@@ucanfixit1 great, thanks. Let me ask you, if when replacing the pump I decide to drain all the power steering fluid, then just add again new fluid. Is that a good idea, do you recommend? With regards to draining and refill, ALL can be done with car OFF?

Hey thanks for watching! I believe it is a 1.0 x 1.0 x 0.4 inches and the part number I found was 90305-PAA-A01 but worst case scenario I’d hit the junkyard or call up your local auto parts store. Hope this helps!
I know this video is old and I know I'm not that strong but my nut doesn't tighten as tight as yours. I am using leverage and I am using the right size nut. So my thing is, my original nut was not properly installed by my personal mechanic (not sure if purposely done or accidental.) But the nut "slipped/fell" out recently while I was on the road.
Hey thanks for watching. Without actually seeing what’s going on it’s hard to come to a proper conclusion also assuming you mean the nut that holds the pulley on and just going off of what you said it sounds like it may be an issue with your threads it could have been done by mistake from the mechanic which caused it to cross thread and when this happens it only tightens to a certain point then loosens again when you try to tighten it more. The only way to fix this issue is to 1) Use a tap and die set to repair the threads or 2) replace the bolt that’s cross threaded which would mean replacing the power steering pump again.
Hey thanks for watching and as for your question new is always better than rebuilt and definitely better and safer than used. The last thing you want is to put a used one in and it doesn’t work then have to do the job twice. As for rebuilt those things are hit or miss so I personally stay away from them whenever I can help it. Hope this helps.
Hey thanks for watching! I did not do a flush. I just added more fluid. I did inspect the fluid that came out when I took the pump off to make sure there were no metal shavings in it. It’s been a little over a year no issues. Hope this helps. Don’t forget to subscribe. 👍🏽
The previous generation Honda Accord (1998-2002) is similar but the 4 cylinder models have the pump on the driver's side. This generation does not have a tensioner pulley but instead uses a separate belt to drive the power steering pump.
Hey thanks for watching! I changed the power steering pump mainly because it was whining and squealing alot. Also my A/C wasn’t blowing as cold so I knew the pulley/pump was going bad. I first tried to replace the o-ring in the lower hose of the pump because usually that is the issue and least expensive but did not work for me so I changed the pump and it’s great now. Also A/C blows cold again. As for changing the fluid it’s not mandatory but always good to do. I didn’t do it I just added more when I was done changing the pump to top it off. To this day 4/30/2021 the pump is awesome and no issues. Good luck! 👍🏽
Hey thanks for watching, I replaced the o-rings because it was whining and leaking from those points. I did it hoping to get rid of the whining noise which it did and the leaking which it did, but then failed after because the whining was one of the symptoms of my power steering pump starting to fail. Hope this helps and hope you’ll sub to the channel.
I used an after market pump from advanced auto zone. The first one was a bad pump so I had to go back and get another one under warranty from them and this one works great. No issues so far. Thanks for watching!

Do you know if all the 10mm bolts are the same size or are they different
Hey thanks for watching. All of mine were 10mm but I’m sure different models have slight differences.
Great video, just curious if that’s an OEM pump or some third party manufacturer. I called Honda and these suckers cost about 1k, was curious if you bought something from outside could you drop the link for the product and if it still working fine?

My 05 is making a noise by the power steering pump when is cold outside is that mean I have to replace it
@@Flacomijito hey thanks for watching. It’s hard to say without having the vehicle in front of me to troubleshoot because it could be the pump or your tensioner pulley or a loose belt causing the noise so it’s hard to say friend.

Hey where you buy this pump I seen so many listing and prices and different information , can link me ?
@@paulnguyen2324 hey thanks for watching. I actually bought mine from advanced auto parts. Unfortunately there is no link I went into the store to get it.
That's pretty much it...I bought a aftermarket one and it was defective, swapped it out did job again and works fine!! Shop thought it might have damaged the rack.
Yup same thing happened to me I installed it, then it kept making a whining noise and the steering wheel was stiff so I figured it was defective. I went back got a replacement and installed again lol. I feel your pain. Glad the video helped and thanks again for watching.

I got some leaking coming from the pressure hose from my power steering pump… I should be good just changing the hose right?
Hey thanks for watching! It depends where exactly the leaking is coming from. Check your o-rings might just be a bad ring. Hope this helps. Don’t forget to subscribe.
@@ucanfixit1 hey thanks for the reply.. it looks like they’re coming from the crimps in the hose.. just wondering if I would need to change the whole pump as well

@@ucanfixit1 Appreciate it. There's a ratting noise coming from my engine bay (07 Accord 2.4l). It matches engine rpm. My mechanic told me it was the serpentine belt tensioner. I had it replaced but the noise is still there. I think it might either be the power steering pump ( which vibrates when i put my finger on it) or the valves need to be adjusted. Is it possible that the fluid in my ‘03 Accord just needs to be replaced as opposed to the entire pump?

And to bleed the system? Doesn't have air after the install?
All you have to do while the car is on just turn the wheel all the way to the left and hold it a couple of seconds not too much and then go all the way to the right and hold it a couple seconds. Repeat this maybe four times and you will be good. No more air in the system. JUST REMEMBER DON’T HOLD IT FOR TOO LONG BECAUSE YOU WILL DAMAGE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. You’ll be able to hear it and feel it when your doing it.
@@ucanfixit1 i was wondering that to that's why i haven't started mine, and u kept the same pully wheel? was thinking about getting the set from advanced auto parts to
@@sojiroumakairyu5143 yup I kept the same pulley no issues so far. My pulley wasn’t damaged upon inspection so no need for me to spend the extra loot. Good luck with your repair it’s pretty straight forward. You got this!!

hey bro thanks for the video. is it not necessary to bleed my lines when i swap my pump out?

Do you bleed the line of air?
Hey thanks for watching. Yes I do bleed the air out I failed to put it in the video I apologize.
What about bleeding the air out? And where did you buy your power steering pump? Any recommendations?
Hey thanks for watching! To bleed the power steering all you have to do is turn the wheel all the way left and hold for a couple seconds then turn all the way right and hold for a couple seconds. Do this a couple times and you’ll be good. FYI don’t hold it too long or you’ll burst the lines or pump. I bought my pump from advanced auto parts. Hope this helps and don’t forget to subscribe!
@@ucanfixit1turn the wheel right and left with engine OFF or engine ON? Does it even matter? Thanks
@@mikeike7114 yes it’s a good idea and you can do everything with the car off but when it’s time to bleed the power steering pump the vehicle has to be on.
I don’t understand how to get the belt back on when loosening the tensioner. I have mine loose. I can’t get it on.
@@hellomynameisdoom8208 hey thanks for watching. Your tensioner pulley should always have pressure on it. When I say “loose” I mean holding pressure on it to give the belt slack for you to get it around the last pulley. What I do is put it on all pulleys first then I put it over the power steering pump (last). I linked a video I made showing you exactly how to do it. Time stamp when I start is 5:18:

So did the o ring from previous video not fix the leak?
Hey thanks for watching! The o-ring did not fix my issue. I knew if it didn’t fix it then it was my power steering pump but I always go with the cheapest route first which was the o-ring. If your having the same issues I’d try the o-ring first because it is known to leak. Good luck!

Hey I was trying to see would you might know the nut size on the power steering pump pulley?? My nut is missing and I can’t figure out the size..
Hey thanks for watching! I believe it is a 1.0 x 1.0 x 0.4 inches and the part number I found was 90305-PAA-A01 but worst case scenario I’d hit the junkyard or call up your local auto parts store. Hope this helps!

Great help. Just did mine came out perfect. You da man. Thanks
Hey thanks for watching! Happy to hear my video helped! 💪🏽
Great informative video, Thanks..

Does a new replacement (not original pump) better than used and rebuilt ones?
Hey thanks for watching and as for your question new is always better than rebuilt and definitely better and safer than used. The last thing you want is to put a used one in and it doesn’t work then have to do the job twice. As for rebuilt those things are hit or miss so I personally stay away from them whenever I can help it. Hope this helps.
Is it really necessary to do a flush after replacing the pump, or can you just add new fluid on top?
Hey thanks for watching! I did not do a flush. I just added more fluid. I did inspect the fluid that came out when I took the pump off to make sure there were no metal shavings in it. It’s been a little over a year no issues. Hope this helps. Don’t forget to subscribe. 👍🏽
make sure to jack the car up and bleed it a few times by turning steering wheel left to right a few times till no bubbles or when it smooth
Definitely a great tip!
Everyone knows that 😬
The previous generation Honda Accord (1998-2002) is similar but the 4 cylinder models have the pump on the driver's side. This generation does not have a tensioner pulley but instead uses a separate belt to drive the power steering pump.
Hey thanks for watching and this is definitely good information to know thank you.
Hi quick question is the nut for pulley on the power steering pump is it reverse thread??
Hey thanks for watching! And to answer your question mine was not it was regular.
What was the reason got this repair , and did you change the fluid , I heard that you should change the fluid before installing the new pump?
Good luck! 👍🏽

hello.i replaced the power steering pump on a honda crv 2007 4 cylimders and still the steering wheel is very hard..
Hey thanks for watching it could be your power steering lines.
Did your power steering pump fail after changing out the Orings? Or did you make this strictly for the content? I'm genuinely curious.
