Which food was your favourite? Do you also want to try PLAIN bread? Let us know 😉
I loved the plain bread. Our whole family does. My daughter got a catapillar shaped on in Perth Western Australia. It was so sweet. I love the hats that you have, they look great. I wonder if you two will workout what the yellow was in the coconut balls? 🤔 great video
You are meant to eat Mantou by dipping them in sauces for breakfast usually. If you eat it on its own then yeah it's just plain bread 😂
Must try the plain bread lol
Mantou - Milk buns. The yellow filling is egg custard. If they have it, would suggest trying the mochi with peanut and sugar filling (might be more of a Malaysian thing. If you liked the sesame ball thing, you can look out for ham sui gok (not sure on spelling) bit oilier, basically fried glutinous rice with a meat filling, so sweet and savory. But of what y'all ate, would take the mochi or the sesame ball!
Freshly made good hot bread is incredible and of course doesn't even need anything. Italian breads are delicious and can easily eat a lot...ciabatta, focaccia, semolina, etc. Along with some dipping into olive oil, yummy
Sarah: Wildly enthusiastic over plain bread.
Emma: It's ... plain bread.
Fantastic editing job on this one!
Thanks!

Hilarious how Sarah's eyes rolled back from that delicious **plain bread** while Emma was trying to muffle words through a slab of cardboard.
Emma and Sarah together in a video is always amazing.
I want a Chestnut now
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
@@jonathanskurtu7384 PTSD from H3, bro.
The coconut mochi thing looks like something you would get in South East Asia called Ondeh-ondeh.
It is a glutinous rice ball covered in grated coconut with palm sugar fillings.
Best way to start the morning ☕️
I like the colour grading on this one. It has a cinematic feel into it. 👍
YAY!!! The TC Dynamic Duo is back for our viewing pleasure. Great content as always, something familiar but new, and like always love the Aussie BFF vibes!
TC videos are so cozy to watch in the early Morning ♥
Greetings from Switzerland and Happy Sunday!
I love plain bread. Did you actually know that it’s known in Scots as plain breid (pronounced [plen brid]), which is a traditional style of loaf made chiefly in Scotland and Ireland.
I was surprised to see how difficult it was for you to open the Chestnuts! To peel fresh chestnuts, we rinse them, then make a nick in the skin on the flat side of each and roast them. Chestnuts can be dried and milled into flour, which can then be used to prepare breads, cakes, pies, pancakes and pastas. The nuts can also be eaten candied (whole chestnuts candied in sugar syrup, then iced), which is amazing! If you have a sweet tooth, you can have a "Mont Blanc" (or Mont-Blanc aux marrons) is a dessert of sweetened chestnut purée in the form of vermicelli, topped with whipped cream. I tried to find the word in German, for Sarah but can’t find it, the only word that comes out is Vermicelles…
The filling of the coconut mochi thing looks like the filling of a Naihuangbao which is a custard bun. One of then is nice but they get sickly very quickly 😄
The panda/pig nikumans looked pretty cute!
I see nothing wrong with eating plain bread. We have a bread here in the U.S. called Hawaiian sweet bread that is just subtly sweet and tastes amazing even with nothing on it.
Video quality of TC videos have leveled. Gotta love it. Yokohama is in my list when I go there next week. Will definitely check these spots out thank you! And Emma and Sara are glowing, love their dynamic xD
Thank you for a very nice video of a street food challenge in Japan's biggest Chinatown 👍
Wonderful! Honestly that steamed plain bread looked lovely, but i love manju and dumplings of all kinds. The soup dumplings in particular looked amazing!
I was really hoping you'd try those red ball things on a stick that we see behind Emma right as Sarah is going nuts overseeing the chestnut seller (about 7:04)--manhua tells me they're called candied haw fruits. I've always been curious about them and what they're like!
If only “it’s plain bread!” was as catchy as “it’s corn!”, because her energy was certainly there
Fubuki: Korn!
Loud/excited Sarah is the best!
haha I'm dying from Sarah and the no-fililng bread and the commentary!
The piggy manju was SO cute!! 🥰🐷
I am also a fan of plain bread especially in winter, sort of like a comfort food. Of course, there are also other fillings inside for selection eg red beans, minced pork, sweet potatoes, lotus seed paste etc. BTW, it's weird that Sarah would love this flavourless bun lol
That coconut mochi was filled with egg custard, which you can get it in the milk buns you guys ate earlier.
The low level chaotic vibe of this video was fun.
Plain bread FTW!!!! Who’s with me?! 🔥🍞
That's the German in you manifesting itself. :p
@@juanpabloperezgomez4349 I was just about to say the same! Bread in Germany just hits differently though...
I totally understand this very German craving. XD Einfach nur Brot!
Mid bread = best bread
Plain bread is everything.
In Lisbon, usually by fall or winter is pretty normal to see street vendors selling chestnuts. I would even say that is quite the Portuguese tradition to do so at that time of the year and a dozen is around 3€/500 yen.
Its kinda cool to see a chinatown in the middle of Yokohama doing the same and i wonder if that as anything to do with the Portuguese and their interactions with chinese culture
I agree with Emma, Sachima is a quite underrated Chinese snacks. The ingredients are simple as hell: just some eggs, flours, and syrup. Traditionally they mix the flour and egg and deep-fry that in noodle shape to make it extremely fluffy (then add syrup and make it in block shape). I personally prefer the original flavor (no sesame or brown sugar or whatsoever). It is analogous to the marshmallow cereal snack in the West, but Sachima is 100 times better imo.
I ship Emma and Sarah 🫶
I love it when they do videos together.
Plain bread team, let's go!!
This is such a fun video! Thank you for sharing!
OMG Emma unlocked a huge memory in my childhood with Sachima (Shaqima)! My mom used to buy these for me in NYC Chinatown and I loved them. I never knew the name! Thank you so much and sorry you guys got a rotten batch.
Absolutely love Chinatowns. So much yummy food. Outstanding from start to finish.
TC another entertaining video and very informative content. Emma made me laugh the plain bread bit.
this was super nice to watch, you two make such a nice vibe
i agree with sarah, bread is delicious. those steamed buns (especially made fresh and warm) are so good
Gosh I love these two together, please , more videos with these girls! They work so well together ❤️ 👏 🙌 😍 and find myself loving the content and smiling with their aussie antics too! A bit of Aussie culture mixed in with the Australians interest for Japanese culture, perfect!!!! ( love from an Aussie watcher)
Seriously, as always, I see Emma, I click!
16:20 coconut dango are the traditional desert in Asian restaurant in France. The filling is usually peanut paste.
Always great to see Sarah/Emma! Positive Aussie Power, indeed. Paussies, if you will. 😉 Would love to see more food/historical vids of the Nagano area. Sarah and Chris just did a couple in Nagano Pref. but would love for TC to go even deeper into the food/experience.
The camera work is AWESOME!
Bread is love. Bread is life.
I'm with Sarah on the plain bread wagon, sometimes I just want a chunk of plain French bread or something and it's the best!
This Was A Very Nice Video As Always! And I Could Already See You Guys Doing A Anime Challenge, "How Many Anime Merchandise Can You Buy With This Many Yen?" Oh! And My Favorite Food Is The Chocolate Buns At The Beginning Because..... Well Chocolate Is My Favorite Type Of Sweet's Food.
That bread looked so good.
Never been so early! 🎉
Sarah, you would LOVE the bread (rolls) at Golden Corral.
Always a blast to see you together! Thanks for another fun video - great way to start off a Saturday!
Love you two! You’re very entertaining 😊
😊 thank you
glad the ladies could try so many different and interesting foods and yes as a lover of bread I would like to try that plain bread even though I am sure there is nothing plain about it
Remember getting the sesame balls in Chinatown in Winnipeg on a regular basis about 30 years ago, they were delicious! Fun video, Thanks.
The editing in this video was so good!
What i like about mantou is you can pair it with anything you want or just eat it plain.
Just booked a night in Yokohama for my trip in May so perfect timing for this video!
I,m with Sarah I love plain bread and Chestnuts. My friends say I have a mouth like a cow! LOL Cheers girls, you rock, Blessings from Oz, Muffy
Waaaaa i wanna go🥲 everything looks so good
Lol the plain bread is called mantou! It's sold as its own baked good with no filling. Sometimes you can get mini ones with a sweet dipping sauce, or have them sliced and pan-fried to be crispy
yum!! i will definitely check these places when when i go!
I do love plain bread, so much, but I'd want to try a panda bun! So cute and looks really tasty!
Emma's chestnut confession part was hilarious. We always get those red bean sesame balls at yum cha, although it's been a few years. Maybe I'll get some..
There's something noticeably improved with the videography starting with this video. Everything seems sharper and vibrant, even the lowlight footage.
loved the video, wish I was there to taste all these myself! Even the plain bread! haha.
I'm currently eating food and y'all made me hungrier 😣😂 I'm craving LCMs now
@13:49 that plain steamed bread looks like man tou. it is usually eaten with as is, with condensed milk or with other sauce heavy dishes like chili crab
This video made me so hungry!! Have you guys ever gone to Namja town?
I have also noticed that when you learn little by litte Japanese kanji's, you can also recognize some of the Chinese ones. 50 Sesame balls 🙂.
As we still have the Spring Festival going on, 春节快乐 ❤️
You guys should try Bing Tang HuLu in Chinatown. It’s so good 😊
Shaqima!! I grew up not eating it but someone introduced me to it and I love it too. Poor Sarah having a bad first experience with it :c
Germans love their bread! I'm german as well and I also just love eating plain bread :D
I always enjoy going to the Yokohama Chinatown!
That choco' Panda Mon looked so sad that it was going to get torn apart and get a 10...and Eaten! HA hhhahahhaha!!!!
Sarah is the second girl i know that just loves to eat plain bun! 😂
Plain bread fans really need to come to Bath and try a Sally Lunn bun, they are so good!
Sachima-gate! Now now Emma, can you totally say you didn't payback Sarah with the sachima over the chestnut? Kidding of course :) but her reaction to the sachima was great entertainment 😂
If you hold 2 of the chestnuts in your hand, its easier to crack 1 because of the shells pressing on each other.
My crush on Sarah continues,a far away pitter-patter racing away, from a far away place, across the pacific drink.
🥰
12/10 Chinatown tour 😊
The last thing looked like something that I sometimes buy at the Chinese supermarket, but I usually buy the one filled with anko/bean paste - they often sell it with a durian filling, but it looks like they can fill it whatever.
The coconut dango filling, i suspect that was coconut custard or kaya or srikaya. It is like regular custard but the main ingredient (milk) is replaced with coconut milk.
The plain bread is 'mantou' in chinese. I normally eat it will condensed milk for dessert, but it tastes good plain as well
Top quality innuendo, ladies.
Huh, interesting... the first time we went to Japan around 15 years ago, right by the end of winter, you could find chestnut to sell everywhere in Tokyo... every single neighborhood had those carts preparing them. Has it become a more localized thing now?
I like it, but only when it's pipping hot... it becomes dry and brittle very quickly, and then it starts feeling almost like you are eating some dry paste. xD
There's a similar type of nut we eat here in Brazil that works in a similar way, but it's salty instead of sweet. Do you guys know pinyon pine? I'm not sure how popular it is outside my region.
Local Japanese import shop also does that sweet mochi with coconut shavings occasionally, no filling though.
The one thing I definitely recommend in Yokohama Chinatown though is going into a tea shop to see the selection of Jasmine tea. Well, if you like tea that is. I remember we went into a shop there that had a wall entirely covered of small wooden cabinets all with different types of Jasmine tea.
In my hometown, we used to have a restaurant that was proper Chinese, not fast food westernized Chinese... it closed long ago, but I still remember the awesome dishes it had. They had the round tables with the middle that rotates around, served a small plate of roasted peanuts as entry, and I remember most about the carp, duck and a few other dishes that you don't usually find in westernized Chinese restaurants. The owner and staff were all Chinese...
Anyways, just rambling... xD
mantao for the win. deep fry it and add condensed milk to it = heaven
HELLO 😲 THANK GODNESS I HAVE MY SNACKS WITH ME BUT 😋 😋 😋 WOULD RATHER BE EATING ALL THE 😋 SSS U BOTH R SHARING WITH US ❤
The last one that is yellow is most likely mung bean paste. With chinese desserts it either, red bean paste or mung bean paste.
Plain bread rocks!
of course the german girl would be excited about plain bread lol
Anyone else catch that suave man at 0:44? xD
いつも楽しそうですごくいいですね😂
I'm with Sarah, Mantou is delicious
Sarah looks a lot like lady gaga, great video ladies 👌💃
A Tier winter hat game imo~
The best way to eat chestnuts is with butter. It's much more palatable and not dry.
Yes! Bring me the plain bread! 😈
That yellow stuff is a type of bean, like the red bean stuff but made with yellow colored bean.
The plain bread is 'mantou' in chinese. Pro tip: get the fried man tou with singapore chilli crab and prepare for heaven.
more aussie wholesomeness
I agree with the guy walking by nodding in the first minute
Please visit Resident Evil and Final Fantasy Restaurants and Airsoft shop and Model kite shop
Love your videos keep up the good work.
Yes Emma they were very large balls 😅😂
Custard! Man tau (Cantonese dialect).
Just how long has Emma been hiding the truth?! Five years ago in "Which is Better? Japanese Wagyu or Sushi? [Ft. Abroad in Japan]" at 3:47 she said she liked chestnuts and now this!
I think these simple videos with you two mostly eating and walking are my favourite. :)
