How many onigiri could you eat in one sitting? Which flavour was your favourite and least favourite? 🍙
I think I would go with the salted rice. I can feel you, I had my times with rice going two time through my head. Not pleasant.
If only she had given that first one 7 out of 11
probably a lot lol ^^; bought two once, meant to save one for later.. i ate that one too. And could have still had at least a third.
I've pretty much loved every one I got, but that's cause I knew what I wouldn't like.. be hard to pick one o-o but to name something different than usual tuna/salmon mayo yada yada.. loco moco. I found that one in a supermarket o-o
I wouldn't touch anything that's sour/pickled or bitter.. or have natto.. or wasabi..
My favorite one is Mentaiko. 😅 I'm so envious because it's nearly impossible to get it in Germany. Tuna w/ Kewpie is also good but Mentaiko is much much better 🤤 Natto indeed is disgusting!
Let’s do the same video but with one foreign TC member and one Japanese TC member. I’m guessing some of these flavors are more suited for Japanese people.
Yo, this Chris Broad guy is so affable. I think he could become really big on youtube one day. It's really nice to see Tokyo Creative reaching out to and providing opportunities for small youtubers like him. I hope he ends up doing something cool, like cycling across all of japan, visiting all of the prefectures, or going to a haunted love hotel with a welshman that runs away from deer.
Lmaooo
That's Dave in Japan.
An awful lot like this Barry Chopsticks chap I know, what a funny coincidence
That's very specific advice
He’s a bit of a pussy though
Always love to see the chaotic sibling energy between these two
Wow I didn’t know japan had so many strange donut flavors
I know jelly filled are the best 😂
A++++ COMMENT 😂😂😂
Pokémon lol
i think Emma smell natto 50 yards out! hehe
OH BOY, JELLY FILLED DONUTS!!!
i love how these challenge videos inevitably become a slow and steady descent into madness and despair
THIS.
Emma seems like she just wants to sleep right there and then
I don’t know why but the cheerful Asian style music that plays when each onigiri is presented gets funny as those two are descending into misery from eating too much. 😂 Good stuff, I love watching Chris and Emma reviews. 👍
It was cracking me UP 😆
Has overtones of the perky, happy host explaining the rules of Battle Royale to the increasingly horrified schoolkids.
Chris seems almost suspiciously aware of what it would look like if you stick your finger in a blender and then put it in rice. Then again, after watching that last cooking video with him, maybe I shouldn't be surprised xP
Sounds like a "That's what he said" case, since he obviously still has all of his fingers
You sound suspiciously aware too! 😅
We haven´t seen Natsuki in a while 😨😱
@@HeavenlyCreature. oh no 😮
This moment, when you literally see on Chris' face the flashbacks from all the previous food videos he has done 😆
I love how, for all the flavours they HATE, there's a LOT of filling, and the ones they actually like have barely any xD
"I've got like a massive sausage"
-Chris Broad
Love the sibling type behaviour Emma and Chris have, they bounce off each other so well!
I am Japanese.
Onigiri, which recently comes in various variations, is originally a food where you enjoy the "rice flavor" with a small amount of strongly seasoned ingredients. There are also shio-musubi(salted onigiri) made with only salt.
It's a bit different from sandwiches or hamburgers.
Umeboshi(Salted plum) onigiri is soul food for Japanese people.
Mentaiko(cod roe) is also highly favored by Japanese people as a very basic onigiri ingredient.
For anyone who want to replicate these challenges without being stressed, or full from eating all on one go, and messes with the score, try making a tier list, eat two once a day, restrain from comparing with others that you eaten before.
Great idea!
That musical sting will ring in my head throughout the night and destroy my soul.
I know you all hated the sour plum but I would love that, and the inarizushi one with ginger as well. Watching Chris and Emma hang out always brightens my day, so thank you for another great video!
I totally agree. I feel like I’d probably find most of these at least decent (except the mentaiko… I’ve already had that at my local Japanese grocer, and it… it’s not for me). But yeah, I was surprised they hated almost everything. Lol I literally do wake up in the morning and crave umeboshi and red shiso. I make my ochazuke with it. I’m glad he liked the inari version, at least.
11:38 Chris Broad, eating an onigiri labeled as salmon sushi (サーモンの寿司): "it tastes a bit like umm... sushi. like a salmon sushi."
Yay! The 'sibling' duo!!
We actually tried most of them when we went to Japan this October. ☺️🍙 My husband and I liked tuna mayo the most and the only one we didn’t like was the one with plum. Our one year old absolutely fell in love with spicy cod roe and devoured one after another. 😂👌🏻
Natto one too? 😮
What is it with some kids and fish eggs 😆
My two were under 5 when we last went to Japan and they were absolutely obsessed with the ikura (salmon roe?). Their breath reeked of fishiness for most of our trip, they ate it every couple of days! 😵
@@aileen8492 oh yes, that one especially! 😍 But all of us were natto lovers even before coming to Japan.
@@carolithe haha, I feel you🤣
I miss onigiri!! Man, we feasted when we lived in Japan lol. We would go to 7eleven with 1,000 yen, grab a few salmon onigiri, cheese Doritos(I think they were a queso flavor??) and CC Lemon, and maybe a dorayaki, and go to the park for a picnic. This made me miss Japan hahahahah.
"Shit on traditional Japanese flavors for a half hour". 😅 For the ones with a really strong filling, the process is to take small nibbles at the center and eat it with more of the surrounding rice. You can control the mix with your bites. That's how I ate umeboshi onigiri when I was a kid, although when I was older, I started eating them plain when my mother would have them.
The way you both look so defeated at the end 🤣
I'm an adult child laughing at Chris's "that's what she said" jokes 😂
I absolutely love ginger since I went on a health kick for my GERDs. I'd love to try the ginger onigiri. I hope I get to be in Japan next year trying some onigiri!
My 6 year old’s favourite food is fish eggs. It was one of my kids first foods, cause it’s easy to eat and good for them. I always have to get fish egg sushi for my kids when we go out for dinner.
The D.A.R.E T-shirt is so nostalgic! I love it!
The new, limited Pokémon onigiri they have at 7-Eleven are actually really delicious. I’ve tried the great ball and ultraball so far.
Mentaiko is my favorite flavor. Definitely, a must-try before you judge.
Can you explain to me why you like it? I really don’t, but I’m always trying to see if I can change my palate and bring it around to like most (if not all) things. Worked for cilantro.
Anyway, might help if I had the perspective of someone who loves it. What is it? Texture, flavour? Get as detailed as you can, if you don’t mind. I’d genuinely love to hear it described.
@@LePetitNuageGris you don't have to like it. But the reason why I like it is because it has a spicy and salty taste that balances really well with rice. Regarding texture, It just melts in your mouth tbh.
IDK how to properly explain it sorry. If you don't like it but want to like it. You can buy the store bought mentaiko and control how much you put on rice or the onigiri. And see if you learn to like it from there.
I was expecting so many “that’s what she said” one liners in this episode. Did not disappoint.
Tuna with onion and pickled radish actually sounds really good
My favourite flavour was from that one NewDays store at Maihama station. I was waiting for Disneyland to open and had a quick breakfast of two onigiris and a bottle of coffee. They had this flavour of half boiled egg on rice and by God it was amazing.
Love Emma & Chris together! Thank you for the laughs.
Actually a really handy episode. I have my usual Onigrii faves, but now I get to vicariously explore the rest--thanks guys!
Onigiri was my favourite snack whilst travelling through Japan a few years ago! I really wish we had them here in The Netherlands!
I feel like I saw and bought one once at AH to Go a few years ago, but it was very dry
They look so awesome indeed! Not even the toko have them :( Than again, it would most likely just taste like disappointment, just like the supermarket sushi they have over here...
There are definitely places in Amsterdam that sell them, like OnigiriYa. Also the Amazing Oriental has them.
They have high standards for foods. I would have absorbed them all in one breath 😭
*Chris:* "I have a BIG SAUSAGE!"
*Sharla:* (watching from home) "Oh myyyy~"
Chris, you gotta be nice to Emma! Or else, they're gonna make you cook for her and Sharla for Xmas! (TC, make Chris cook for her and Sharla for Xmas!)
EDIT! OMG CHRIS! Pickled Plum Onigiri is exactly like a holiday in Brisbane, imo. Deeply uncomfortable, strangely damp and souring experience.
Spent the entire video waiting for Emma to use her earrings to attack Chris for every mentaiko onigiri she had to eat 😂
Whoever thought of the cut to the onigiri every time, with the little music is a genius. So funny and a great way to show off the actual product.
Right! Toward the end I was just laughing every time they did the cut because of the amazing contrast of their suffering.
You two are obviously McDonalds 3 times a day type of tourists.
Wondering why you didn't just cut them in half so that both of you could score the same Onigiri...
Chris is back to save the day
Always love when we get some good ol' Barry Chopsticks on the channel. Honestly, a solid _not shit_ out of ten.
I feel like we slowly got to watch Emma's spirit die from repeated mentaiko. :/ Rest up, Emma and Chris!!!
Chris nailed the "that's what she said" jokes :D
that's what she said
It’s so cool you are trying loads of jelly donuts
Chris that spicy cod roe is my favorite. I brought 4 back home and been missing it since
lol this episode was good, yall were funny and lethargic
at least judge them honestly rather than just giving 0/10 for everything and saying its bad.
Picky eaters can't do that.
Mentaiko is so good in the right context like spaghetti sauce or mentaiko pan but I don't like it when it's the whole egg sack at all
Thats right Emma! Don't judge Sarah's taste so harshly. Hehehe. Love the video Emma and Chris! Thanks Tokyo Creative for the fun video.
lmao I'm japanese and I love all the ones they hate: mentaiko, ume, natto... mentaiko is a delicacy! in general, I don't recommend the long cylindrical ones because the content is usually minced or blended and it doesn't taste great. I recommend any of the triangle ones with the seaweed and rice being separated with plastic. The fresh crispy seaweed tastes great. but if you're visiting don't waste a meal on this stuff (unless you're on a time crunch) - go to any restaurant!
You can totally tell Emma was taking all the worse options and Chris skated by haha
Emma wore her scary murder earrings to the shoot.
Emma rapping while Chris was dying of Ume poisoning 👍 LMAO 😂
25:55 was such a Avengers in the shoarma place moment
Everyone who collabs with Chris needs to make him eat one of every kind of a food
I miss Emma's red hair. It suits her so well. She glows with it.
Maybe they can cut items that are not in bite sized packets into 2 so that we can look inside and both hosts can take a bite if they want to.
Honestly, all the items except the mentaiko ones look edible to me. I would not eat an entire sour plum in a go though.
Love the convenience of these, but outside Japan, these things are seen as 'exotic food' and rather expensive.
they wanted to eat less
They're pretty cheap in Hawaii, I used to raid the onigiri section at 711 for breakfast, I could get the tube sized roll for like 1.25, they were so cheap and the quality was superb.
I love the sibling rapport you guys have. My favourite TC combo. We appreciate your pain for the content.
I love onigiri in Japanese conbinis so I was so excited to watch this. watching 2 people complain for 28 minutes about every single thing they eat was truly insufferable lol
Mentaiko is actually my favorite onigiri flavor lol
Chris always starts off by looking at the food like "ughhh Im not gonna eat all this, Im not excited at all" but as soon as they start eating hes downing it like air lol.
Edit: first one he goes imma gag, then goes in for more than one bite lol
I love these kind of videos, the only sad thing is the waste of food..
The sibling energy in these videos in insane
Australian "bushman" Malcolm Douglas made "shooshi" rolls with some fresh caught tuna. He got sick of making damper. Also a backpacker turned him down cold from getting a lift even though it was 300km into Broome and he was riding a bike. I wonder why? The actor who played Mick Taylor agreed with the backpacker.
I'm shocked Conner didn't try this xD he's done beer, crisps, coffee, and ramen.
Thanks for showing me the fish egg/ roe onigiri :) I actually love that stuff! Had no idea that was a thing so available in Japan.
100% popular on the entire country. I love it, but Japanese add spice or salt because the rice don't have taste.
This video has taught me how to instantly get into a fight with an Australian; call them "inoffensive"
"I'M GONNA JUDGE SARAH HARSHLY" got me wheezing.
I think when people are not used to eating Japanese food they’ll just have a lot of dislikes in Japanese food cuz their just not used to the flavors. Like, how anyone who is foreign to a certain countries food, we would have dislikes and likes. But me as a Japanese American, any Japanese food are so delicious.
Connor refused to do another food/drink video, so Tokyo Creative are carrying the torch.
Pickled plum is awesome
I cant believe Connor wasnt here for this given their track record of eating things together 🤣
I wanted to see him suffer
Even the thumbnail was the exact same as his lmao
16:20 love it when Emma turns on the accent
How could you hate karashi mentaiko? It's the best onigiri flavor :((((
Pickled plum is actually really good if you eat it with the rice and seaweed, all in one bite
Poor Chris and Emma, both need to do the Spartan race to recover from all that rice.
Thank goodness you made it through that food challenge! I was worried for y'all for a second there. Take care!
I really enjoyed Onigiri when I was in Japan.
I wish there was a list of each Onigiri they tried along with the rating they gave it!
I wish it was something I could buy where I live, it looks SO GOOD!
20:15 "Look at that little fella" "Look at that, a funny little character"
That jingle that comes on EVERY SINGLE TIME after a new onigiri had me dying 😂😂😂
This really made me miss onigiri. I used to eat the ume, seaweed and salted ones all the time when I lived in Japan.
I just love Chirs and Emma. Best combo.
朝仕事に行く途中、コンビニで梅と辛子明太子のおにぎりを買うのが好き。
ほうじ茶や玄米茶を飲みながら食べると美味しいよ。
Mentaiko is one of my favorites. I get it though, it's not for everybody.
0:52 i cannot unhear a squeaky anime dog singing 鳥 じゃない よ
Ebi mayo, tuna mayo, and teriyaki chicken are usually my go-to flavours🥰
I also find things like egg, pork, beef, cooked or smoked fish, and vegetable varieties pretty good❤
I can't stand fish eggs, or raw fish onigiri😒
"let's just take a bite" and then they proceed to take like 4 bites of the first one.
lol, Chicken of the Sea is a fairly popular brand that sells canned Tuna in the States.
Didn't anyone catch Chris's "ThATS WhAt ShE Said joke?!?!?" I'm liking this different Chris...
The 9s:
Negi Shio Pork Kalbi
Skirt Steak Harami
Ginger Inari
Stir Fried Rice, Pork, Egg, Onion
The 8s:
Chicken Lotus Root and Chili
Tsukune Meatball
Stir Fried Noodle and Pork
That's not abroad in Japan. That's obviously a bloke in Japan.
As someone who would eat pickled plums plain if it weren't for the salt content, I politely disagree on the pickled plum ones haha. But I'm glad to see this chaos unfold!
When I lived in Hong Kong I ate the cod roe flavour for breakfast every morning so it's kind of funny to see it be so hated
Salted rice is the best kind tho no distractions just the beauty of rice in mouth
Its okay to not like a lot of the fillings and flavors but can you guys at least be respectful? Its an affordable easy quick food people eat, the way u guys were behaving, making faces and noises are not very nice. U guys may think its just your opinion or its just to make it more entertaining but its disrespectful to ppl who eat those onigiris.
That's basic education since young, seems both of their parents failed.
Is hard to fix that in this rebel age.
Emma was matching Chris's energy in this one, haha. Chris is looking strong though, love to see it!
Emma wearin the dare shirt 🤣🤣🤣
Everyone's sabotaging Chris, they must be trying to cash in on the bet 😂
thanks for trying all those flavours, it give a nice idea of what I want to try and the ones that I won't. The level of energy going down in this video was quite fascinating to see!
