I apologize for the variation in resolution & frame rate in this video - I am unable to use my capture card right now, which means for GT Sport & GT7 I had to use old footage from my capture card, new footage from the low quality PS4 capture software, and footage from my friend's PS5. I usually try really hard to record everything in the highest resolution & frame rate that I can, but it wasn't possible this time. Regardless, I think the video turned out extremely well.

Gran Turismo 7 is a mixed bag of opinions. People absolutely love the game while others hate it because of the technical issues and microtransactions. The GT7 experience will very much on what type of initial mindset you have on the game. If you have expectations that the game will set the world on fire, then you'll be disappointed. On the other hand, if you expect the worst, then it may not be the case. I think it had the potential to be the best game of all time. Polyphony Digital had to deal with all of those development hurdles to try to make it work on both PS4 and PS5. Its mind boggling that I see reviews of all different extremes of the game. Some say its the best racing game they've played in a long time. Some GT fans who haven't played a GT game since Gran Turismo 4 say its a revival of the series. Some say that the game is terrible.

its not even microtransactions, with an update you can grind (wow) half an hour now for 800k cr. the ai is boring to race against and the "career" is so meaningless and super linear, while in other games you had the choice to buy a car, or do licenses and how you progress was up to you. also anything beyond the national a license is also pointless except the cars you re getting

The more I play it the more I appreciate what people are complaining about, but I’m having fun and would rather race a lap in GT7 than any other of the series. They just screwed up the grind, and the game feels half finished. There should be racing leagues for the group 1-4 cars with ib-s license requirements, and more high reward races for more laps like spa and le mans to give players more variety. Outside of that GT7 has better tracks, better physics, livery, cockpit mode, weather, a full field of race cars, it is an improvement on a lot of gran turismo’s core concepts. It also retains a bunch of its failures, like rubber banding, sinplified physics, mixed car races that don’t make sense, rolling starts.
The menu books though basically make you play the game the same way it’s always been played, I mean you’ve always had to get an fr car, then an ff, then a make, then a group/lm race car, etc. It hand holds you a bit and there isn’t the ‘beat the game only buying three cars’ route, but it’s a car collection game so what are people complaining about when it makes you collect cars?

Ngl I’ve been having a lot of fun recently just grinding to get very car possible. It’s also been fun to join multiplayer lobbies and race with whatever car and be able to change most of your driving mechanics by changing your cars settings. One thing I will say is that sometimes as the driver of the cars you don’t always get a real sense of the speeds your vehicles traveling. You’ll be going 280-300 and sometimes it visually looks like a nice stroll. Idk. Good game none the less

Gt 1 and 3 were my favorites. 4 was alright and the last I played. Micro transactions and ridiculous car prices coupled with laughable payouts along with the stupid chase starts are lame. Some grinding is OK but this is nuts. I liked qualifying or just starting at the back of the grid. No reason to replay any championships now with the way prize cars are done. Some of the vgt cars are cool but really take away from realism for me. They look like hot wheels cars. Also it's missing a ton of cars that I liked. I'm still playing though. Parts of it are enjoyable but I won't buy another in the series if there is one.

The thing is, it's basically gts with more content as in tracks n cars but still with a glorified campaign, gts campaign is arguably the same as gt7 campaign, it hasn't improved on that, nor did the sport online part evolve in any way, it's alot of nostalgia with none of the benefits, you're basically paying 80 bucks for gts with more content and some old gt nostalgia. The pricing is a big issue in game but i'd not have much problems if I'd be able to see clear improvement, either in campaign, or sport online mode, but neither is the case. And honestly won't change when they can't even be bothered to add any substantial amount of new events and things to do, plus half the cars aren't usable in the races.

  • @N7RiZe

I'm happy to have found the first video that describes GT7 to it's flaws perfectly! I've preached them for a whole year and nobody seems to get it, but here it is in video form.
One point I think was missed was the events, championships and tracks being in the same menu since GT4 seems to be what Polyphony was trying to go for. If GT7 had GT Sport's race menu as the main progression along with the surprise rewards, that'd fix half the game to me, and then the World Circuits can just be for Time Trials, Race Weekends, whatever. Other than that GT7 is just going to be GT Sport 2 in my eyes, and the fact that Kaz says updates will make GT7 `grow and evolve` says to me that the game isn't even at it's best now in the eyes of the developers.
When people complained about money, my response was: 'GT6 had microtransactions, they were never a scapegoat for issues because the game had the usual GT progression (albeit not as good as 3, 4 and 5), and GT7 doesn't have a GT mode/GT Leage events menu for you to go at as you please.' For some reason, most of the people I spoke to didn't understand why GT7 felt weird and they were happy to grind just to get cars they didn't own already (FOMO moment, or maybe these people don't have anything better to do).
I'm a life long fan of GT from 3 to 6 and I've tolorated Sport and 7. I'm impressed you can make this video without having a nostalgia for the old GT games. However, a new perspective into the GT series re-enforces the positives of the older games and the negatives of the new games.
    Well done!

How to fix GT7. Lost of changes.
1st. Get rit of roulette tickets or at least change them completely.
2nd. Driving events need to be more consistent.
3rd. Better payout. Make it so that payout is more related to time playing not the events.
4th. Engine swaps need to have a system to get each engine not the game deciding when to give you an engine.
5th. Sport mode needs to rotate tracks better. Not same few tracks over and over again.
There is more but this are just my main complaints.

I decently enjoyed Unbound, just made a video on my problems with it. I do like Horizon 5, I've only made more positive-leaning videos on it.
I can criticize things and still enjoy them, just because I make a video that critiques something doesn't mean I think there's nothing good or enjoyable about it. I don't see myself as the type who tends to dislike anything new. I'm quite against that mentality.

A good parent is the one that cares about their child not the one that neglects their problems. If Jake and likes of him put so many effort to make these critiques that's because they love racing games, a lot, and definitely more than the average player.
Now there is a point where a parent might feel naggy yet it's almost always better to have strict parents than neglecting ones. There is also the fact that when we enjoy things, we tend to keep it to ourselves because these experiences are intimate and less relatable.
To demonstrate my point, would you be willing to watch me driving back and forth through the coastal roads in FH2 in my beloved Sky Blue F12 Berlinetta for 20 straight minutes as I tell you about the car and the road and what makes them sooo special for me?

Play it in VR. Anybody into racing should pick up the psvr2. Its worth it for GT7 alone. It's a mind blowing experience and you will get hundreds and hundreds of hours of entertainment from it their is so much content in the game.
Playing in life sized scale, in side the car in full 3d with real spatial awareness makes your real life driving instincts kick in. You have to check the mirrors before maneuvering just like in real life and you can feel the change in elevation of the track. Being able to look into the corners with your head as you turn makes a subtle but notable difference. It's a revolutionary experience and if you have a real love of cars like me will make you grin from ear to ear everytime you sit inside ready for a new race. It really does feel almost like real life. If you get chance to give it a try dont pass up the chance, you wont regret it.

  • @leoleonvids
    @leoleonvids Год назад +1

I've only played GT7 briefly at someone's else's place... I can say it looks and feels great, but everything I've heard about the career kind of hurts. And I say that as someone whose favourite GT game is GT1, which I played back in 2016 in an emulator. I don't have any nostalgia for it, and it doesn't even have that much content, but its compact Simulation mode is still very fun to replay, and none of the later games match the same slightly arcadey and more visceral feel the first game gave me. Plus I like the overseas' version industrial and techno music more than fusion jazz.
It just feels like they got everything that was easy wrong - the career, seriously? I've seen people complain about the car list, but I think the focus on quality over quantity is a good thing, even though it can lead to diminishing returns. Even some of the premium PS3 models look somewhat crusty in the interior, and standard cars are... yeah. Cars take a long time to model and get data from and that's okay. I'm not sure about the track designs but I think I could get used to them. The HUD and music I could also overlook. Graphics still aren't the best I've seen (Driveclub still beats anything current-gen imo) but I don't really care about that, it still looks very realistic.
But the career? I could literally come up with a better career myself, just from copying what the earlier games did. It's the only aspect of the game that's not restricted by budget, possibly only time constraints - but Sport was 5 years old when it launched, and while I can't imagine PD was only focused on GT7 with how game development works nowadays, it just seems strange. GT2 had a good career and that game was super rushed.
And overall it feels like they ruined one of GT's best aspects by trying to expand on it - car collection. In GT7 any personal value from the cars you collect is gone. Like you said, it's about how open-ended it is. You can get some car from golding a license, or purchase some used car. From there you could maybe pour all your money into one car, or use a specific car for each event, or only use prize cars, then you can decide whether you want to fight fire with fire or say fuck it and bring a fully tuned RX-7 into the Sunday Cup. Or try to win the GT World Championship with a Civic Ferio. Or collect all the cars! That's part of what makes me love the cars in GT - the game just leaves them there, and lets you pick what you want to do with them. I'm guessing that's how a lot of people became car enthusiasts.
GT7 just turns that idea on its head. Now you have to get specific cars to progress through the menu books, basically forcing you to collect certain cars. Doesn't matter how you liked to play GT, you have to do it this way now. Not sure how much use each car has but it's still kind of a step back imo. Fine as a sidequest, not as the main career. And the way the game seems to try to teach you about the cars seems to be an attempt to make people learn to appreciate cars... which comes as overly pretentious to me and I think the old open-ended approach was far more effective. The used car dealership is also just weird. Real-time updates, cars you need are always there? What? Part of the fun of the UCD was grabbing cars you don't find for sale often when you wouldn't have used them otherwise. With the addition of FOMO that's kind of gone, I think they should've either kept the UCD like it was in earlier games, or went all-in on the "game as a service" aspect and let people sell their cars on the UCD... oh right, you can't sell in GT7.
I haven't played GT7, so I'll revise my thoughts if I ever get a chance to fully play through it but from what I've seen it still bothers me. There's a lot I could say about it rn, but I can't just judge a book by its cover - even if the cover is see-through. But what I've seen isn't promising.

    1. What's worse about the "always online" feature in GT7? That there's no manual save button to help you when offline.
    2. All races (except for the two of Clubman Cup Plus) have rolling starts only, where the opponents stray too far to catch them all. It's not the first time happening. GT Sport already had these starts. Something similar happened back in GT6, but there weren't over 12 cars on track to overtake, so it was fine. But numbers can become a problem.
    3. When you start a championship, you can't temporarily leave it at any time until you complete it - there's no option to do it except forcing the game closure while in the race menu and then starting it.
    4. A few racing cars in Gr.4 and Gr.2 classes/categories have you fight in an unfair race no matter how fast you go. The first class is where 4WD drive cars' acceleration speed exceeds the non-4WDs making it impossible not to fall behind if you are in a multiple turns circuit like Tsukuba - while in the Gr.2 class, there's the CLK-LM whose aerodynamic capabilities are far superior to the Super GT and gains an improper advantage on straights unless you have a car like the McLaren. The Balance of Performance is useless. Why did they put such cars without thinking about how much trouble they'd stir up?
Man, it's like they first announced the game, only to delay it because of COVID and take the chance to ruin it all!

I pre-ordered (stupid me, it was the digital edition, and it's not like they were going to run out) GT7 with all the fancy dlc cars and million credits and everything.
I hated it on the first week :(
I played GT5, GT6, and GT Sport. I can't Platinum 5 or 6, but I'm still working on Sport (I just need to get to level 50)
When I started 7, I was so, monumentally, absolutely disappointed. I was so disappointed at the roulette system. The "career" (menu books). The car dealership systems. And especially the game forcing music rally on you (who thought music rally was a good idea?)
I think it can kind of prove how out of touch corporate ties can get with their fans. Yeah, Yamauchi has an incredible passion for the automotive industry. But when you work on games, you hardly get the time to play them. You especially don't play them from the perspective of a gamer, or series fan. You simply play the games with the purpose of validation. Yes, the music rally works. Yes, the menu books work. Yes, the used car dealership functions as inded.
Yet they don't understand, these "features" ruin the game for legacy players.
I hated the menu books. I loved the previous campaign style. I enjoyed working my way to the top. Then I double enjoyed taking my fastest cars and shredding apart the AI in the slow poke races.
I enjoyed just going straight to the GT Auto and getting new paint, or oil changes, or car washes. They removed all that.
I enjoyed B-Spec even, although I hated the increase in race length.
The ticket/roulette system in GT7 is horrendous. When I played, I literally ONLY got parts FOR CARS I DID NOT HAVE. I ONLY ever got the minimum amount of credits on the spin. I got the worst cars on the spins.
The menu books could be an interesting side feature. But making them the main campaign was a HUUUUUGE fuck up.
I have seen that VR is finally compatible, but VR is simply too expensive to spend on a game like GT7.

I have another thing to say about GT7 that was not mentioned in this video, the cars on Brand Central that are locked via invitation required to purchase the car (eg. Porsche Carrera GT) is the worst invention ever and it should not be in the game in the first place, and it's only attainable via roulette tickets/gacha/rng which is extremely dumb even after you beat the main campaign and there's no way to get it other than wait for a day or until midnight so you can grind the tickets again to actually get an invitation. Up until now they never fixed this. It really turns me off from playing GT7 a lot because most of the replayability relies on creating liveries and Sport Mode. Game feels more like GT Sport 2.0 than a real GT7 to me. It's really saddening. I almost doze off and hit the wall in the track when I was grinding for credits for an hour and a half on Spa, Sardegna and Le Mans track, felt like a snoozefest to me. And coming back to play this game again for monthly dripfeed updates for new cars and tracks just won't help me either.

These are facts. Driving is great...best it has ever been in GT. Rest of the game sucks. Roulette system, engine swaps, invites to buy cars, and special parts locked behind very low % chance RNG sucks. 95% of the races and missions not being replayable sucks. "Campaign" sucks. Lack of circuit race types sucks. Not having races for over 50% of the cars sucks. Lack of endurance races sucks. No b-spec mode sucks. Terrible payouts on 95% of circuit races sucks. Legend car rotation sucks..looking at you Escudo and Roadster. Lack of HUD and FOV options suck. Their lack of any communication with customers sucks; not sure why they even have a Twitter. The misleading marketing sucks. dont care about multiplayer so I'll withhold comment. What REALLY sucks is I see no reason the majority of these can't be fixed easily and quickly. The only reason they won't is microtransactions.....that SUCKS.

It’s the most average game in every single area. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. The “story” is abysmal and linear, all freedom taken away, and you’re spoon fed the exact car you need for the next race you’ve just unlocked, that every other player will have done in the exact same order, because it’s LINEAR. The AI is crap and repetitive, you zoom past the first load of cars then spend the last lap or two racing your arse off to get to the car in first place. The force feedback is TERRIBLE. How on earth could someone call this game a simulator when it feels that poor on a steering wheel. There is absolutely no detail, no road feel, no times where the steering gets heavy or light, you can’t feel anything, it’s like you’re driving on polished marble. I’ve played games back in the early 2000s like Toca, that had more advanced force feedback than that. It’s lazy as hell. When going back to Assetto corsa, or even project cars, they’re worlds ahead. Not even comparable. Then game has f*ck all content. How could a game made in 2021 have less content than a game made in the early 2000s on a ps2? No selling of cars until you’re so far into the campaign that it doesn’t really matter anymore. There major tracks and cars missing, and most of the game is just copy and pasted from GT sport. The only good thing about the game is the graphics, but even then they’re not exactly groundbreaking because they decided to bring out the game and make it run on last gen. Polyphony digital should be bloody ashamed in themselves, spending all that time on nonsense like that stupid half hour intro it makes you sit through, and half arsed attempts at something interesting like the “cafe”, and not on actually producing a true, high quality game that we all were promised and had hoped for. I will never buy another gran turismo game again. I know this comment will probably get some hate because the majority of the gran turismo fanbase have their tongue stuck so far up PD’s arse, that they can literally release a half arsed attempt at a game, with most of its content missing and they’d still sit there praising it like it’s the greatest racing game to grace this earth.

i played gt7 and gt sport.
gt sport had a daily reward where you'd get a roulette of 5 cars where you get 1 randomly, due to that i had a large variety of race cars, lmp1 cars, road cars etc i ended up with over 600 cars and 20+ gt3 cars (some duplicates) in gran turismo 7 i had 1 lmp car, 1 gr3 car, 1 gr4 car. and also mabye just mabye people playing driving games to drive a large variety of cars when they want to without grinding for 40 hours a week. (like forza horizon) Gt7 felt like a waste of money. and all the menu's are crap so and the always online aspect can kiss my ass. for example with differant variety's of cars look at grid legends i played that game for ~25 ish hours and i have unlocked almost every single car from the most expensive to the cheapest which made it FUN, because one second i could drive a nascar the other second a gt4 car and then a porsche 911 gt3rs etc. (in grid legends when you complete certain races in the carreer you can get certain cars for free.)

It’s not really a true driving sim unlike pc’s counterparts. It’s more simcade, sod having to race to win credits to be to buy your dream car to race in. Everything on pc is unlocked for you to race in from the get go. Everything about gt7 is micro transactions trying to take your cash, which really takes away the real fun of actually racing. Still £60 on the ps store after a year? It is a joke!!!
