Idk im not trying to validate smoking but honestly when I have gotten high and talk to god I become more vulnerable and get closer to god
It’s nothing wrong with it. If you spirit pulls you in right but you don’t indulge I honestly feel it’s okay to smoke. Just don’t let it master you. For God is the master of us and Jesus Christ has allow the sins we commit to be forgiven.
You gatta understand bro drunkness is any form of toxication from a substance for personal pleasure. And God is strictly clear drunkness is a sin. To be vulnerable with God is not through a substance bc your character is built a certain way when your sober. It’s a relationship that you deepen and as you go you realize he knows all things. He loves you bro and doesn’t want you in that. I have a demonic attack while smoking and was changed by the renewing of the mind bro. Trust me bro when the spirit of God touches you bro you don’t need substance bro you need Jesus
@@thelegendofsceeby7911 but aren’t we all built different. I don’t think it’s a sin to smoke or drink. But drinking does not allow you to control your thoughts. I’ve seen the smoking still allows people to be capable like via driving a car or riding a bike. Overall if your spirit does accept it don’t do it but if you tried and you can handle it rather than letting it master you that’s sounds better than giving one someone else’s experience rather than their own.
@ aye bro nice response bro and I’m actually definitely wanna answer this bro ! Tbh honest bro think about it this way, God says we are the temple of God and anyone who defiles it God will destroy. So for example, we have lunges made to breath air and nothing else, now we have medicine ofc but for purpose not recreational use. So when you inhale and exhale there’s something happening that’s not breathing. Now it’s defiling bc you’re doing something God didn’t intend you to be made for.
Honestly the reason why people still smoke or drink and not be convicted bc there not building and understanding what God wants. Surrendering and accepting what the word of God says and believing in the son bro. Once these things come to factor not from the mouth but from the heart then the eyes will open about smoking and drinking bro. You know bro I would say bro brining it to Christ Jesus in faith and pray and ask him about it bro ! Trust me the word of God is a double edge sword and I’m here just doing some apologetic work so the true gospel can be spread that Jesus died for our sins and rose out the grave and now we have the advocate who leads us in spirit and truth !
George is not ready to let go of weed that’s why he will always put an excuse and be sympathetic about his condition. Addiction does that to an individual. I always knew it was bad in Gods eyes but never denied. Was always convicted of it. Praise Jesus I’m completely sober. No drinking no smoking weed.
I'm in the other camp. I'm a devout Christian (Roman Catholic) and I smoke marijuana daily. It is different for everybody. How 2 joints affects me vs. how 2 puffs affect someone else is not synonymous with alcohols intoxicating effects. My archdiocese currently takes the view that Marijuana is an instant intoxicant, therefore unlike alcohol cannot be had at all because it's affects cannot be tapered. This statement is untrue, and coming from decades of prejudice against the plant, it's affects (which differ greatly user to user, unlike alcohol; yes i understand some can ''hold their liquor'' better than others, but again attempting to compare apples to oranges here) Marijuana, for me personally, as I can only speak from my own experience, does not intoxicate me whatsoever. The physical affects are that of relaxation, a lightening of stress cerebrally (like weight lifted, hence the term ''high'' for me) and a slight dry mouth. My patience for challenges in life increases, my desire for the world to slow down (the term ''stop and smell the roses'' comes to mind, to take time to take in all that god created for us and to take time to stop, block out the distractions in life, and connect with the Lord) increases, and life becomes more simple. I understand this is not the affect for most users, and that my circumstance/tolerance to the affects of the plant is unique. I am able to perform at a high level in a profession that requires a uniquely high-level of attention to detail, I am able to maintain positive social relationships, and I am able to prioritize my family ( wife and 2 beautiful children ) and their needs/desires, without any hinderance in any of these arenas of my life. Law enforcement does not like policing marijuana for the very reason of people like myself. With Alcohol, officers know exactly where you are on the spectrum. With our christian based angle of i'll cut myself off before intoxication, it matters not to the law. They can (with breath, hair, and blood tests) say you are a .12 BAC, or a .20, and deem you intoxicated. They have a system in place and can police that system well. With marijuana on the other hand, a person like myself (see car and driver 1980's closed-course marijuana intoxication and driving experiment with 3 different level marijuana users and 3 very different results) can function on a similar, arguably better level than sober(again more patience being the driving force in that claim).
I would implore the Catholic church to start over on their approach to Marijuana. To not go off of the mainstream, negative narrative that hippie counter culture gave the plant, but rather to look at how all civilizations have interacted with the plant for the last few centuries, and come at the issue with an open mind as to not try to correlate marijuana and alcohols affects and nature hand in hand, but to view them individually and see for themselves the multitudes of good that can come to some (not all) who may benefit from the affects of this plant.
Genesis 1:29 ''Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (I interpret this as to use what we were graced with, to our benefit, not to abuse, and not to our, or humanities demise, and to do so in a way god would approve, aka still living in his way/image.)
God Bless Everyone, Jesus is Risen, he is the only truth, the lamb of god, our savior, The Redeemer.
I think what your archdiocese was trying to convey, referring to weed being an instant intoxicant, is that one beer or glass of wine is controllable. I'll attempt to give an example, I haven't drank alcohol in 8 years, so if I start drinking a beer with no tolerance to alcohol and start feeling like I'm getting drunk I can stop drinking. Where as if I take a hit off a , God be with am high instantly, there is no way for me to tapper off and control the affects. I don't know if that makes since. Your elder is just trying to look out for your best interest in the long run. I'm not trying to attack you when I say this next part so please be patient and forgiving with me, my brother. The way I interpreted your comment was that you felt attacked by the answer you were given by your religious elder and you are doing a type of mental gymnastics to work smoking in your favor and that implies to me that you have a type of subconscious guilt about smoking and being a catholic, not just that there's already a stigma attached to it. Please don't take that the wrong way brother, I'm not trying to make you angry and honestly I do not know if it is sinful or not and I know that different substances affect everyone differently. Like how adhd medicine can either calm a person that needs it down or if they don't it has the same affects as coke. Sorry my response is long and it might now make sense, I don't like typing, talking is the best way to convey a point. Last thing though, the Bible talks about pharmakeia, which you might already know, but if not the word has multiple meanings; drugs use for pagan worship, as an addiction, or a poison used to kill, manipulate or control. You have to answer this for yourself, do you think that an evil spirit could be manipulating you into thinking it's ok to smoke? There are stories of young orthodox monks being tricked into thinking they were in communion with Christ but it it was accually satan and it was the older wiser priest that knew the tricks of the devil and saved them. Read Galatians 5:16-26 for a better outlook of flesh vs the spirit. Christ be with you.
@l.-._.-._.-._.-._.-.l I have been waiting for a response from a person of faith and you are the first to respond thank you for engaging me on this topic. I appreciate the long-winded response and I agree within some of your takes. We have to boil down the issue even more when you say you can't taper the effects what if the side effects aren't even an "intoxicating" effect to some? I'm not saying you don't feel something when you use marijuana but I don't agree with the term intoxified. You can't for me personally take the effects of alcohol's intoxication versus the effects of marijuana and put them in the same camp. We have to look at the definition of the word intoxicate. **Intoxicated of alcoholic drink or a drug) cause (someone) to lose control of their faculties or behavior.**
Only one of the products ingested fits that definition for me and it is alcohol. I can be honest with myself and say that alcohol does intoxicate me and I lose physical and mental control. But more importantly than a worded definition is whether or not the act or substance separates one from God and makes them act in a sinful way or in a way that is not Christ like. And again, I realize I have in my own camp but others have to realize marijuana unlike alcohol cannot be put on a spectrum like society, and the church? Does with alcohol it is on a case-by-case individual basis. It's effects and whether or not it separates you from God or acts as an intoxicant in your life. For me personally marijuana does not intoxicate me. I feel it's effects, but it does not meet the definition of the word intoxicated and it does not pull me further from God in my heart. To be truly honest with myself marijuana's drawback for me is it can pull from my memory. It can be a distractant in life the same way anything else you put on a pedestal can be. The key then becomes moderation.
Returning to the definition of intoxication , being intoxicated causes one to lose their faculties or negatively effects their behavior. I would ask the church to be honest with themselves and ask this question: Do more people come to reconciliation for doing something wrong or sinful on alcohol, and being unable to control their inhibitions meaning beat their wife or cheat on their spouse or heaven forbid crash your car into an innocent family intoxicated? Where I can say for me again personally, marijuana not being an intoxicant in the defined sense of the word for me does not cause me to lose my inhibitions or control over my body. I have never beat anybody or crashed a vehicle Under the influence of marijuana. I choose my words carefully here because I do concede that I am under the influence of a foreign substance when i use marijuana, but I do not concede that I am intoxicated in the classic sense of the word the church views intoxication. Don't do things that seperate you from God.
Ideally in a perfect world in the world God wants there would be no need for an intoxicant or foreign substance to help cope with life I understand that people say and the book says Andreas says everything you need can be provided through Christ. And that also is one of my internal dilemmas. Even if everything were perfect in my life and there were not a need for the substance, I still have an affinity for the plant, it's flavor, it's relaxing effect, it's properties, the social aspect. Part of my affinity for it is also is I grow the plant from seed, harvest and care for the plant.
Thank you again for engaging me on this conversation I appreciate our interaction as a brother in Christ. God bless you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and to yours.
@l.-._.-._.-._.-._.-.l and yes the part where you said I feel guilty about being catholic and using marijuana is Very true. The whole reason I prompted this discussion. The mental gymnastics of trying to justify it. I agree with you coming at me in that way and challenging me but again I would challenge back that we are comparing apples and oranges. Once a month at my church we have men's night where we have beers brots and brotherhood. The Catholic Church puts out a cooler of beers for the guys to enjoy with a meal and brotherhood. I can only speak for myself but I can say one of those cans of beer I can feel its effects and toxicating effects before I finish the can. And those effects and how I feel the definition of intoxication. I could sit and smoke marijuana that whole evening and personally not fit the definition of intoxicated. I would be feeling it's a fact but I would not be any further separated from God in my mind and I would still be able to protect myself if someone were to attack me or stand up for somebody if they were being wronged. I can honestly say I would not have the confidence to do the same intoxicated on alcohol. That is why I want the Catholic Church to re-evaluate its position on the plant and intoxication in general. That are they need to change their definitions Of intoxication and what fits that bill. But even then I feel I would find a different way to defend the plant. When used properlee and by those who can tolerate it which is different for everybody it leaves the arena of intoxication and fits the second definition of intolocation for me which is " to excite or exhilarated one". When I get intoxicated in that sense yes I smoke marijuana and am excited and exhilarated to study the Bible and its message, With a patient's inefficiety toward the subject matter I would not have Not having interacted with the plant
he said Strychnine poisoning is healthier than alcohol poisoning, lol sin is that which you do that you know you should not. simple.
Alcohol isn't a sin, alcoholism is. Trying to distort your senses and get away from reality is.
Getting high is part of that. Wether you like it or not.
alcohol distort your senses, thats the truth if you like it or not
Wouldn't you apply that same logic to marijuana? If alcohol isn't a sin but alcoholism is, then what's the difference between smoking one bowl from drinking one beer? Plus marijuana is a natural plant alcohol is man made.
Alcohol literally distorts your reality and lets what you keep in your head “intrusive thoughts” 9/10 spurt out of you no you don’t have control when your drunk no matter how much convincing you try to tell yourself those are most likely evil spirits anyways trying to convince you (that they are known for), that it’s ok….
@@NikShizzy weed is way healthier than alcohol, proven fact. Don't let these people think they know something they don't. Way better to smoke weed than drink
George, as the older man in this conversation why did you treat him like this? The example made sense to me and it was funny but not to the point where I could sit and let him finish what he was saying. Help me understand and forgive me because I'm more flawed than you
Im conflicted because of what the church taught me, and when i ask God he usually tells me, like i was conflicted when i first started studying my Bible about whether or not being gay was a sin, and when i asked him he showed me that night with a demon, it woke me up an hour after i fell asleep and that shook me because absolutely nothing can wake me before 3 hours at least. I think its the same as drinking, we are allowed but we shouldnt be getting greened out and completely stoned, unless you need that medically. Can anyone help me understand better.
The fact that the Bible isn’t abundantly clear about this & many other things is extremely off putting. Because of that, Christians will be debating this topic & many others until the end of time with no clear conclusion.
I believe I've seen Emmanuel smoking a cigar in a pic or a video, not sure if I imagined that
indeed you have. Cigars >>> Weed
@@LazyIntellectuals Make more of your cigar videos. Suits you.
If you can truly can say and believe in your heart when you ask yourself and ask god if its okay and your indulging isn't purely for glutinous pleasure, I believe you will arrive at the correct answer.
I don't agree with George about the seaworld story being a weird or crazy example.. I thought it made sense
Honor your Mother and your Father, are they ok with you smoking weed?
GENESIS GOD GAVE YOU ALL SEED BEARING PLANTS AND SAID IT WAS GOOD
So Marijuana now is plant with seed?
I heard idk if it's true, but they are now making it more potent/addictive so it's not natural anymore unless you grow it but idk
like poppy
@@RaptureCatcher7do you stay from poppy seed muffins
For constructive use not recreational. It’s like saying food was made for us so it’s completely good and now you’re going off your own terms and becoming a glutton. It doesn’t work that way. The word of God says anyone who defiles the temple God will DESTROY ! Meaning if you use your lungs for something other than breathing it’s wrong. Bc God knew what he was doing when he made your lunges to breath in air not smoke.
