    So why did he switch from Sticks-It to Dope?

      The procedure he used in Part 1 was correct for nitrate dope; not for Stix-It. Stix-It is heat activated and only requires one coat on the wood and then you iron the covering onto the Stix-It. Nitrate dope is the traditional adhesive to attach linen, cotton and polyester fabrics to airframes. Koverall is a lightweight version of Ceconite which is a heat shrink polyester material. It's extremely strong when finished and is easy to use. One caution: Nitrate dope is extremely flammable even when it has dried. Don't get any open flame source or smoking material near nitrate dope even after it dries. Its chemical base is very similar to smokeless gunpowder.
