Looking at Edison, this deck with no caius, triple diva, triple goblin, double mali, and return from dd would be one of the deadliest decks in the synchro era. Dear lord that’s a terrifying thought.
look up the teledad era of zombie with card of safe return. easily the nastiest version of it and surprised it wasnt more popular. x3 mezu, x3 plague, x2 safe return , 3 foolish, ccv, x3 reckless x3 reckless x3 burial x2 dad. you could end with 3/4 synchros easy with dad.
@@omglawton it’s what I played at my UDE day in 2008 with triple mali. It’s why I have max rarity zombies as my Edison deck and I truly think it’s the best deck of teledad format if you retro play it.
@@ma.2099 yeah that zombie deck is OP forsure. When I played it I couldnt get ddraw mali in. which is crazyyyyy to even think about. Looking back that gravekeeper deck and that zombie deck were easily the best decks!
@@omglawton I saw it first as a Japanese deck list. Played with triple goblin, triple mali, double krebons, double plague, triple mezuki, triple emergency teleport. I could not afford dark armed at the time but I had everything else and wow. Best deck I’ve ever played.

I actually really like this format. I've gone back and played this a bit and its a ton of fun. The games are usually fairly quick which some people don't enjoy but I like it. Twilight and Zombie are fun to pilot as well.
Great video as always. This is one of the most nostalgic decks in the game for me personally, with the Brionac-Mezuki-Gobzob combo being super iconic. I've been replaying this format recently and I've found it's a lot more difficult than I remember it being as a teenager - a lot of interaction happens in the battle phase, mainly Honest and Gorz/Trag, and games can swing on a dime as a result. Lightsworn is also just a really frustrating deck to play against sometimes, but I'm looking forward to the profile on that anyway. Thoughts on the HERO engine in this deck? It saw play at Columbus, though only in E-tele versions, but something modern Edison players love doing is adding Miracle Fusions to decks like this, and some modern players have even found success playing straight-up Diva HERO in this format as well.
I remember this time in yugioh. everything even remotely around this time frame was cool. I played synchro cat for 09 nats, I played infirnity 2010 nats. Won a couple money events here in socal during this time period with quickdraw and glads. I remember asking adam about burial cause I was getting two more and he convinced me to play one. He explained if your playing it you should be winning and there isnt a case where you need to which convinced me. He also played one foolish which he said his just a -1. I always played two best -1 one ever.
great videos I've been on a binging spree. I would love to see a Lightsworn deck (preferably Twilight) I've always favored chaos Lightsworn over pure. Also, ultra Lumina doesn't look bad. I actually sold my supers and replaced because I like the ultras and they match all of the over lv 4 Lightsworns in modern. I don't actually care about max rarity, just whatever version is aesthetically my favorite. The gold text fits the Lightsworn theme being heavenly and pairs well with ultimate rares like JD, Celestia, Lyla, Solar Recharge etc. The only decks I've ever played are chaos prior to Lightsworn release and Twilight. I've been modernizing the same deck for 20 years 😂 I only have 1 binder because I don't collect or play other decks, but my entire binder is just cards that have come in and out of my deck or potential side deck cards over the years and different extra deck monsters tailored for my chaos Lightsworn builds. It's pretty cool, it's like a time capsule of my deck's evolution. I have a modern version and I can craft any of the retro format versions 👍 curious which format / iteration you will choose for the first profile. looking forward to it
Something to note is that the canadians actually switched to diva after the columbus ycs after realizing it was much better (you could see this from old bellido deck profile videos where dale profiled lazaros diva zombie build near the end of this format).
Vayu was actually released right when this format began. Blackwings won the first SJC of the format (standard over turbo) - but LS/Zombie were really the solidified top two strategies as the format progressed.
There's no better way to close the year than to do it watching another great deck with Joe Giorlando!

I never actually played Pepe and I only sparingly played Zoo. I could try - but I wouldn't have the best insights!

I love Heroes too. I could see some justification for it.

Question for this format since you mentioned blackwing. Was vayu turbo not commonly played or is this profile from before ANPR?
