2010 may be one of the most important years in Yugioh's history that's a bit slept on by the playerbase. Yes, Frog FTK winning worlds is a big thing and Edison as a retro format is probably 2nd only to GOAT, with amazing merits to become 1st. But there is 1 particular set that it is DUEA before DUEA was a thing, and since I am making that statement, for me it is the 4th most important set of all time in Yugioh: The Shining Darkness. There is a reason why Edison ended there. The set that taught Yugioh designers "not once per turn" shouldn't be printed on cards. The set that enabled Frog FTK and solidified the Frog engine for years to come. The set that created the multi-negate board with Infernity. These are the main reason why I think The Shining Darkness is such an important set for the history of the game.
I was one of those players that actually loved Gemini after Warrior's Strike dropped. It wasn't meta in any way but it no longer fully sucked thanks to Featherizer and Soldier actually allowing the deck to do things.
you completely left out synchro cat . That deck was legit the reason Dark strike got banned and rescue cat and summoner monk got limited. I remember when synchro cat got nerfed it made me quit yugioh for 5 years lol
At this point in time, EU data was not readily reported due to the SJC circuit being primarily a North American circuit. This will change starting in 2010 with the beginnings of the YCS circuit.
