    This is my favorit deck/format of all time, build my own years ago, with all 1st edition original print.

    I love these cards. Yugioh's had a lot of formats, but I'll always remember the first few years the most fondly.

    Great video! Also it's insane that Torrential was at 3 and was only a side deck choice.

    Pharaonic guardian doesn’t get enough love for being an insane set. Also hard to believe spy wasn’t a three of in this format.

    This format is underrated, a lot of people think it's tier 0 but there's actually a lot of competent strategies

    Show this to anyone that says that old yugioh wasn't broken.

    • @UTgohan
      @UTgohan Год назад +3

      Yeah it was broken but at least back then turns didn’t take 15 min, it wasn’t all about building a board while playing solitaire and hoping your opppnent couldn’t break your board. Back then it also wasn’t about who went first in most cases lol like it is today. Yata is at 3 now and doesn’t do a thing, that’s how broken modern yugioh is but you probably weren’t even born around old school yugioh so makes sense

    • @sallas09
      @sallas09 Год назад +2

      I don't think anyone would really argue that early YuGiOh wasn't broken. It was just a different flavor of broken. Yeah every player had access to a full suite of spells that can end the game by themselves, which no one can deny was problematic. Imperial Order was a problem, for sure. But an individual turn rarely took a quarter the time that most turns in the modern game do. Cards weren't absolutely bloated with multiple effects and full text boxes of small-font text; it was easy to understand what our cards did. There's less need to worry about keeping track of lingering effects or quick effects that can come from literally anywhere. Because turns were so short, both players got to take more turns more often, so you have what many would consider an actual back-and-forth game. Yeah, the ability to potentially blow out your opponent with power spells at any time is very strong, and also not terribly different from locking your opponent out of the game with a board full of negates or interruptions, and Yata-Lock was really the original 'the goal of the game is to make your opponent unable to play,' but something about the pace of the early game made it feel more fair, I guess? Like there were more chances to fight back if things weren't going your way?

    Love the Yata era. I'd be interested to see your take on pre-WC Yugioh formats.

      I did pick up a play set of super Cannon Soliders to showcase some of the early Ultimate Offering Sangan/Witch decks from
      the OCG. I’ll see how things go!

    Yet another great Yugioh history watch! I really enjoyed you going over the reasoning over some of the cards as well as detailing what you might have excluded, such as white magical hat. I also think something like electric snake is a rather niche card and that you should have sided for a slightly different game plan rather than hand control games 2 and 3 when your opponent would side to beat the hand destruction cards. However, that might just be a little too advanced back in 2003 when these people have only played the game for around 1 year haha. Nonetheless I always enjoy looking at the high rarity cards you have to profile and listening to the reasoning and thoughts that went into these players' minds back in the day.
    Hopefully I'll see you at the 250th! Are you doing commentary again?

      By the way, I've been enjoying the march 2012 duel videos you posted. Are there any plans to post more matches, either remote/irl if you do ever get the opportunity or DB when you can deeply go into the plays to the audience and we get to understand why certain plays are made/not made. Definitely was great to see the match vs based loli playing wind-ups and you on rabbit/heroes!
