I actually remember the Dynamo Duck and the Totally For Kids POVP bit. Can't believe it's been sooo long since I've seen these. I was a pre-teen during this time. I think I even entered that X-Men sweepstakes (was a BIG X-Men fan around that time).
14:54 - I bet this is how a lot of super villains start out, creating complex technology to steal their dad's waffles. Before you know it, the kid's up in his room, constructing a Doomsday Device.
These commercials are from a Dallas station although 33 is now a CW affiliate. I watched Fox 33 all the time and more than likely, I was watching this!
2:57 - Something tells me over 90% of the postcards they got said "Wolverine", as I seem to remember he was the one everyone loved. Except me. I was always more about Gambit.
I was the one kid in America who entered "Beast", and I actually got one of those VHS tapes. I always assumed it was because I actually had the balls NOT to pick Wolverine.
03:44, I remember one Aladdin commercial that I can never find online. It had a bunch of people in real life singing bits of "Friend Like Me", Including a group of servicemen overseas going, with a salute, "Mister Aladdin, SIR!"
I'm guessing that the reason the Genie is a plush toy among the dolls of the Aladdin characters is that the creators felt that the Genie would translate better as a plushie than a doll like the others.
I've never gotten the appeal of a toy that's a one-trick pony like the Puppy Surprise (I remember that commercial, though I never owned one). Once you know how many puppies there are, all that's left to do is play with it and 95% of the fun is gone. Same thing with Kinder Eggs, Finders Keepers, LOLs, any of those chocolates with toys inside (apart from the chocolate). I just see it becoming a garage sale/Goodwill donation within weeks or months.
Pop Tarts-the entire budget for this ad was probably spent on the "toaster UFO" Captain Planet-was a bit odd that one of the villains was called Duke Nukem..he wasnt as popular as the video game character of the same name Beetlejuice-looks like the live-action sequel is finally going to happen..
Guys at Sega: "Nintendo made an oversized light gun for their Super NES, let's make one as well". In all seriousness, you can the number of cartridges that used the Menacer on one hand.
@@MichaelMangi You can thank that for them looking as awkward as they do instead of being handguns. The larger form factors probably made them less appealing to use, but it's not like light guns were ever hugely popular.
If I was a kid in the 90s, sure I'd want to win free stuff, but I would have found that sweepstakes lame! I would already have had a T.V. and VCR by then, AND 2 NES consoles.
This weekend, I'm going to wake up around 7am, get a bowl of cereal, and watch a marathon of these FOX commercials and try to relive some nostalgia.
I play these videos while I'm getting ready for work in the morning. It puts my mind in a positive place to start my day.
9:30 I think that's Elisabeth Moss in the "Totally For Kids" PSA. She was a child actress who was in Picket Fences at the time.

Story of my life.
I was four years old when these commercials aired. I remember thinking Dynamo Duck was the funniest damn thing I'd ever seen in my short life.
2 days after my 10th birthday! I remember just about every single one of these! I think I still have my Aladdin dolls somewhere.
15:05 "I can move through the house undetected..." * Immediately greets his dad * Gee, I can't imagine how your cover got blown!
I was 11 about to be 12 that upcoming April. Haven't seen that fox kids pov bit in AGES. And I totally forgot about Dynamo lol
Cool to see the Dynamo Duck short, voiced by Dan Castellaneta! SHEESH!
My childhood. That terminator 2 game is something I want now.
I had T2 with the Menacer back then. It was kinda shit, tbh. :(
You should RoboCop vs Terminator on Genesis; such an amazing game that still holds up nicely.
It was terrible! I couldn't even get the target to stay on the screen! I had to take it back and (with the help of my friends) got a refund! :)
I think I just found all the prizes in that X-Men sweepstakes the other day at my Goodwill for $20, screw you contest I'm the winner now! Muahaha!
I miss being a kid.

Gambit was my favorite too. He was the Han Solo of the X-Men -- the funny, cool rebel who overestimated his romantic charms.

No matter how many post cards I sent I never receive a reply in the 90's
January 9 1993 fell on a Saturday same date as cops season 5 episode 19. And 1 day after leprechaun premired in theaters
Leprechaun...Jennifer Aniston's big break, I think.

You can thank the congressional freakout over "violence in video games" hearings that put an end to the Menacer and the Super Scope.
