That was when commercials didn't go all loud when they came on, not like today when the minute they come on the volume raises way up to capture our attention.

They kept trying to outdo themselves thankfully. Most TV's didn't have remotes, so you were forced to watch/listen to these over and over again.
Does anybody remember those TV Guide commercials with the futuristic background music? They ran from about 1972 to 1980. Back in the days when 4 out of 5 houses had a TV Guide on their coffee table. They were 15 cents in those days.
I remember that as soon as my mom would come home from food shopping, the first thing that I took was the TV Guide and read it from cover to cover. Checked out the sports and movies and they usually had some good celebrity stories. Really miss those days....
I really don't know. Now with the internet and tv having a large majority of show information readily available would make me think not bein printed these days.
You're right. But, I still laugh sometimes at the Farmers Insurance ads starring Oscar-winning actor J.K.Simmons. I love the insurance ads that show stuff like cars dropping on people.... it reminds me of the Three Stooges' humor.
Mamma mia that's a spicy meat ball ! You can wash it down with coffee made from Folgers crystals. If you mess the sik, you can clean up with Scrubbing bubbles. I remember these commercials quite well from when i was a kid.

I was 21 in 1970 and these commercials bring back such warm and happy memories of a bygone era, although the television broadcasts were not that blurred. It has to do with the equipment we had at the time and running it now with modern equipment.
I grew up in the 1970s. I can't remember to many of those commercials. Great seeing Riy Schieder from the Jaws movies in the coffee commercial. Vic Taback that Mel in the show Alice, in that pantyhose commercial. Thanks for posting this 👍. Great memories.
That Alka Selzter commercial is so funny! The woman in the Camay commercial is very attractive. Imagine how nice she looks in real life. The Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet is such a beautiful composition!
The spicy meatball for Alka-Seltzer is the funniest commercial I have ever seen. And, as to Ann Miller what can one say? Positively wonderful! One expensive commercial..... also, Bing Crosby did another minute maid commercial where he ended it by saying, ‘When it’s Minutemaid, there’s no doubt about it’, in his special low voice. And, is there a better ad to define the 70’s than The Teaberry Shuffle? SHADES OF Burt Bacharach and Herb Alpert?
"Heeeyyyy, what is that?" (looking at sparkling coffee grounds) "It's new instant Folger's coffee crystals with real broken glass!" "See, it sparkles!"
The Camay commercial at 7:00 features Avery Schreiber and Reva Rose. I remember him fondly from those hilarious "yeah-huh-yeah-huh" skits he did with Jack Burns. I remember her fondly from the sitcom "Temperatures Rising".
The great Reva Rose in the Camay commercial!!! She originated the role of "Lucy" in "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown," when it first ran off-Broadway. A real talent. Shame we didn't get to see more of her.
The great Ann Miller dancing for a soup commercial? She deserved way better. She was a Hollywood Star starting in her teens. Total class, amazing dancing talent. Kids need to see this instead of the garbage they are presented to as talent on music videos. This IS great because she must have been in her late 40's if this is indeed from 1970 on, don't know. But in one minute she knocks it out of the park at that age with energy like she's in her 20's. Amazing.
These were all great. Being a kid in the 1970's, I remember most of these. I enjoyed the Alka Seltzer ad, Great American Soup Company and the Clark's Gum commercial.
Dig how the Hai Karate ad "clearly demonstrates how the product is used". Bottle over palm, shake out, rub together, rub on face. Love it. Nice and clear. ....and FUN!

The Camay spot: my gosh, that was the first place I had ever heard the famous love theme adapted from Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet" ballet score. Imagine, commercials teaching kids about music. Almost choked when I saw this -- first time since it was a current ad.
