When it comes to weddings. It’s only a white dress you should never wear. Now some brides do ask not to wear certain colors of clothing/dresses. Beige isn’t a color brides ask people not to wear, because of it being a neutral and makes the color white stand out.

“This top is objectively ugly….I’m gunna keep it” lol! Honestly girl I have such and eclectic wardrobe and mix and match and experiment most people would say my clothes are ugly! My step daughter told me once when she was young that I could work at a circus lol it’s all about what makes you happy as long as you wear it and you feel confident or fun or creative who cares if it’s objectively ugly!

White/cream/lighter colors are generally what you want to avoid wearing to weddings. Beige could fall into this depending on the style of your outfit bc the main factor I feel is combination of color & style. A usual go-to question to screen wedding outfits is: Is it obvious that you're not the bride even in this lighter color/style? Then probs okay to wear. Obviously this depends on location/level of formality/if the bride has a specific request -- understandably if going to a black tie wedding, don't wear a beige floor-length gown unless it's been okayed by the bride.
Edit: Just wanted to clarify in case of confusion -- your dress in question was perfectly okay bc the style itself doesn't scream bride!

This is ridiculous... If brides have an issue with anyone wearing a multitude of colors or shades of neutrals other than WHITE they can say something in the invitation. I have been to weddings where they asked women to wear darker colors and that was awesome to know. White is the tradition color for a wedding dress into the modern day for a multitude of reasons including it simplifies things. If people really want to stray from that cool, wear a simple or even short dress COOL but in that case you can’t get upset that someone else may be confused for the bride. It isn’t everyone else’s job to be a psychic about what is going on at every wedding they attend. If a bride is really upset that someone might confuse another person for the bride at her own wedding, due to dress color or style, she clearly has invited too many people that don’t actually know her... To the wedding. That or she is incredibly insecure and I’ve never been to a wedding for such a person.
@@edithtierce8209 I think it's just become the general courtesy/expectation to avoid complication with the color/confusion in traditional Western wedding culture. Of course like you pointed out it can be a case-by-case basis depending on the bride and situation. I've been to a more casual wedding where the bride encouraged people to wear lighter colors bc it fit the color scheme/mood and people showed up in shades of white/cream/beige and it was fine bc they also stuck to the dress code for the type of wedding -- it likely would have been a different story if then someone showed up in an evening gown that was also white. Trends and social/cultural norms have shifted a lot and will continue to evolve for the expectations associated -- pre-1940s it was actually encouraged for bridesmaids to also wear white bc of superstition. As we're shifting toward more modern brides opting to not do the traditional white dress, we may also steer away from the general accepted expectation that only the bride can wear white.
On the flipside, in a lot of other cultures there isn't that much of a social construct for guests to not wear white bc it isn't culturally significant. Sometimes the traditional wedding garb isn't a white dress but a colorful gown/ensemble with diff meanings specific to the culture (i.e. hanbok for Korean people, or ao dais for the Vietnamese.) Or other countries/people will just have a generally more relaxed stance on wedding culture and don't subscribe to these more Western precepts.
Totally agree that if a bride chooses to deviate from the norm, they should probs either specify what they want when inviting people, or be ready to just accept whatever comes.

Could you put your coats and jackets in another closet and then hang up your other clothes? Once hung up they need little to no ironing :) Amazingly, nice, matched hangers will make you love taking care of your clothes. Wire hangers are helpful when on a tight budget, but since some of your dresses are $200, or vintage, they deserve special treatment :)

I know of course all fast fashion is bad for the planet and everything but for what I always heard ,Zara of all other fast fashion companys is one of the most friendly place to work like one of the few companys thats doesn't explote their workers and actually have good work conditions, but maybe I missed something 🤔

Yeah the best trick is to make it fun and have a go at it. So I now listen to music to make it fun. Ever since I started listening to bands I'm currently into like Delta Parole instead of just turning on the radio the I'm done so fast (well almost hehe). XOXO

That’s amazing you don’t buy any fast fashion! I still shop it occasionally but try to be much more mindful of where I’m buying it from. Zara is pretty bad all around in their production processes, but I mainly boycott them because of the forced labour: remake.world/stories/news/free-uyghur-now-stop-zara-from-profiting-off-of-forced-labor/

I've posted some good quality affordable clothes on depop and I doubt anyone even saw my posts. Do I have to advertise elsewhere to get people to find my depop? Lol I can't sell anything on there
It’s actually super hard to sell stuff, I feel you hahaha. I recommend using searchable words like “vintage”, make sure you put the brand name in there too. If you have no luck try Poshmark or a local market too. But I’ve only sold about 5% of my Depop stuff x

When you boycott a brand that doesn’t really mean throw away everything you’ve ever bought from them donate it if you want it gone. Don’t be wasteful throwing clothes into a landfill isn’t great either just don’t buy from them anymore. I’d say boycott shein too tbh.
Hey, I totally agree with you. I never said or implied boycotting meant that and I definitely never said we should throw away all the clothes we own from those brands. I donated everything minus about 10 pieces I’m selling on Depop so I’m not being wasteful 😊 and agree, Shein is bad but I’ve never purchased from them which is why I mentioned Zara.
