Keep a bin of the smaller clothes you love just in case in the basement! I FINALLY got rid of all my smaller clothes deciding i'd probably not be that size again.... a few months later I dropped 2 sizes.... and had to rebuy like all new pants. BIG REGRETS. This time I've just put the bigger sizes in the basement for now in cases I need them in the future. Mostly I just do this for more timeless pieces that will still likely be in trend a few years.

@@alliewillcott7279 haha I have a genetic condition that basically paralyzed my stomach so I couldn't tolerate/absorb any food. Had to be tube fed but luckily stop loosing weight and have been able to eat more again! I know weight and dieting can be tricky but if you're able to eat please be thankful for that and nourish your body
I've seen how Becky from the Sorry Girls is wearing the "maybe" pieces in her wardrobe. She hangs them and every day she takes the first piece in the rack and has to make an outfit for the day with it and if she likes it it's going to the end of the rack and if not it's getting donated. That seems like a resourceful way of decided what to keep 😊

I try and remind myself that if the piece was thrifted, it wasn’t as much of a waste of money as a new piece would have been! Thrifting is much better for the environment so theoretically you’d be able to cycle through your clothes more often as long as you donate what you’re removing from your closet 🖤

This is honestly my favorite closet clean out video. I love how you go in depth for each item. I'm a person who loves long videos that I can put on while doing something. One trick I do is to put the “maybe” clothes that I’m not sure about in a box or bag somewhere I don’t look all the time like in a hall closet or under the bed. If you don’t miss or think about those item at all in a whole year-GONE. Sometimes I decide to pull things back out that I’m glad I didn’t get rid of! But mostly I don’t and that stuff is out. I like the idea of my things having a new life with someone else who will actually get them out of the closet :)

I'm only 4 minutes in and i agree with every decision you have made so far. You're right, you're not a cardigan person, I'm exactly the same. (They age me by 10 years.) You're a jacket person. They sharpen your look. Love that light blue puffy one.

Same. 4mins in and I just don't feel like these jackets work for you. But I'm glad you went with the rule "If I don't ware it outside the house, I don't really love it." I started listening to this rule and throw out half my closet, but I got more complements on my outfits outside the house from doing this.

Take the Kibbe body type test, there are 14 body types. When you find yours, dressing will be much easier and everything you'll wear (as long as it in your kibbe ID's recommended lines and silhouettes) will look great on you and will harmonize with you and your bone structure and facial features. You dont have to religiously follow it but it's incredibly helpful when you have "nothing to wear".
When you said no to that long sleeve sage Princess Polly dress my jaw literally dropped LOL please keep that or give it another chance!!!! The color on you is so amazing and it’s so flattering! 😭

The reason some white colorways of things shrink more than colored versions of the same fabrics can be the way the fabric was treated (to make it evenly white) as it's often bleached or chemically brightened, then add in heat to a woven fabric like denim/cotton and you have shrinkage much quicker! You can, especially with knits/looser weaves restore them with a lot of cheap conditoner, a bucket, and lukewarm water. Soak the garment through, massage the cup of conditioner through by hand and slowly and gently massage and tug back into shape. Lay flat on a towel to dry while stretching. It will take a few passes usually, but many a cardigan/knit fabric in my wardrobe has been restored to the right size this way!

I often buy duplicates in different colours for things that are very basic and it's super common for fast fashion to have differences even with same style/size items!
Once I was unable to fit in the larger size of a skirt but the smaller one fit me. No clue what that was about
That is so bizarre?? Someone else commented that it’s the bleaching process with white pants - so random!?
I have this black pleated skirt from H&M I love and I wanted a white pleated skirt and I saw they had a white one at H&M too and I tried it on in the same size as my black one and it was really tight on me. My black one was a size 12 and it was too big for me so I ended up buying a size 10 which fitted perfectly but the white one in size 12 was too small for me. So in the black one I’m a size 10 and in the white one I guess I’m a size 14? It was weird trying on the skirt in a size I knew fit me perfectly and then it just didn’t fit me at all.

This is a really random comment, but I feel like something that would help your style journey is to look into kibble body typing. You are definitely more on the yang side, which is angular, which is why the softer materials and fabrics don't suit you as well. You look STUNNING in leather, stiff fabrics, straight lines and oversized details, so I would guess you are dramatic or natural. All the best! I hope this inspires you to check it out. I rmb u mentioned in one of ur videos that u love rectangular/ square necklines and I think that learning the kibbie style recommendations will allow u to figure out why certain clothes work on you.

I used to have a shopping/clothes problem aswell, id buy stuff and then never wear it. what really helped me is that whenever something had been unworn hanging in my closet for a long period of time, I'd ask myself: ''why don't I wear this?'' and figured that I like scoop neck lines, I dislike a certain color of grey, I like ribbed materials, dark navy suits me better than black, I don't wear denim jackets, I dislike anything with a graphic print on it or just a print in general. And the list goes on and on. I still often catch myself liking stuff on the model with one of the point I just mentioned and then I tell myself, you only like it on the model and not on yourself so don't buy it. which helped so much. maybe this could be of some help for you too in the future :)
this is genuinely such great advice, thank you! something i've also started doing is looking at clothes i love and asking the opposite question - "why do i love this?" and it's helped me understand which shapes, colours, patterns etc suit me. thanks for watching & for your thoughtful comment xx

Heyyy girl as always love those closest clean ups!!! I came across a Tiktok the other day where the girl showed an hack for your jeans that are a bit too snug apparently if you shower in them with hot water then hang a bit in them then let them airdry they will loosen up a lot ?!!! Didn’t tried it yet but it could help!! (Only works with denim) and don’t put them in the dryer haha !! xxx
I’ve tried this and can confirm it works! It works just as well to throw in washer on cold cycle and then just try on while they’re wet and move around a bunch for a few mins. I had a pair of shorts that were probably two sizes two small at the waist and that fixed them

i have the same princess polly tiger stripe dress + i love it, but i agree about the straps! wore it out on nye and i had to constantly adjust them the whole night (i wear a 34b for reference and got the dress in a US2)

I keep the pants that I really love, even if they get a bit too small.
I throw them out if they are worn, torn, no longer my style, or just so tight that there’s no feasible way I can fit into them again (e.g. before my hips widened to their current size, because my bones won’t shrink, or they’re too short). :)

from someone recovering from an ED, I have a lot of very negative memories attached to having items of clothing saved in my closet as a "goal dress" or such. Although I'm unsure whether or not you have struggled with disordered eating, having clothes that are smaller sizes for you to wear when you lose weight could easily make you feel bad or guilty if you can't fit in them when you expected to, and could also lead to using those clothing items as a guideline for what your body "should" look like. I love your positive and open-minded conversations about weight fluctuation and body types on your channel, and thus you know that weight naturally changes all the time, especially for women, and our bodies are constantly changing. Having "goal clothes", even if you aren't consciously considering them that, could end up hurting the way you see your body and your weight. This is just speaking from my experience. Much love

As someone who hasn’t suffered from an ED, sometimes I’ve bought clothes that turned out too small for me or I outgrew when I was younger but I divided to keep them because I liked them and hoped I would fit into them again one day. For me, this didn’t have any negative affect on me. It didn’t make me upset that I couldn’t fit into them yet but when I did finally lose weight (I was overweight so it was good I lost it) it made me really happy that I could fit into these items I loved. Especially because I was also sad that some clothes were now too big for me that I loved so it was good to have something to look forward to wearing instead. So it’s not always bad to keep clothes in different sizes. But I agree if you have problems with body image and stuff it’s probably not the best idea.

We have a very similar body shape. I recently did a mall trip and tries on a bunch of clothing to get my friends' opinions. Obviously you do you, but I think what looks best on our body shape is fitted but /stretchy/ material on top, tight at the waist to accentuate it, and loose on the bottom.
You’re 100% right, those are my absolute favourite outfits to wear! But I also love experimenting with different silhouettes for fun hehe 😌

I'm kind of doing the same thing. Only one day at a time-ish. I have such a hard time getting ready every morning. Because I'll put something on, and take it off because I don't like the way it fits, and on and on and on. I've decided each day to go in order in my closet and if i decide to put something back, very likely it's going to get donated. I'm pairing my clothes down only to what i love and is comfortable and that should make getting dressed easier.
I absolutely love this mentality!! I do the same thing and I’m so over not feeling comfortable in my clothes. Then again, some items I keep because I want to push myself out of my comfort zone. Proud of you ❤️

7 months too late but keep all your il-fitting clothing in a box somewhere.just pieces you love. you never know when u go down a size in a year time.
also. cascade velet hangers are a GOD SEND for space. was able to tripe my closet space. compare to using those regular bulky white hangers. BIG con with them. u save so much space, u want to buy more cloths to fill it XD

ngl i relate to this soo much. during the year, my size will fluctuate so much. so when i'm bigger i can't fit into the clothes i buy when i was smaller, and when i'm smaller i can't fit into the clothes i buy when i'm bigger.
