    It's always freaked me out how violins have no frets yet violinists can find the right notes. I can't even fathom trying to play a double bass.

    • @charliee_asf

      nah bro you get used to it

    • @iammatt06
      @iammatt06 5 лет назад +49

      Yeah so basically we start with stickers kn our lower notes and then as we learn higher notes we develop an intonation of sorts and then we can stay in tune and as we play longer we remove those stickers and tapes until you don’t have anything on your instrument. As you start to take of those tapes you develop a muscle memory and it becomes easy usually takes about 2 or 3 years. We can’t have frets because each instruments notes doesn’t have the same place so let’s say we did have frets we would be out of tune 24/7. So we have individual tapes on each note placement and you can put a tape across all 4 strings as the spacing across all strings are usually all consistent. Now that you know that think of how easy it is to get notes as somebody who has played for decades and that’s what you get.

    • @E_MZ_
      @E_MZ_ 5 лет назад +12

      エッジJ •matt • i Never used tapes. Don’t ask me why. I thought I was too good for them 🙄🙄 but yeah, it still took about 2 years to get it down. Then after that it’s a combo of muscle memory and actively using your ears to make adjustments to find the right pitch.

      Man, I dont ubderstand some people who say that cello and double bass are harder than violin for their size. I thibk that is bullshit, brcause a violin player gets used w its size, same for cello and any instrument. So it is impossible to say that there is "the most hard instrument in thr world"

    • @devyysk
      @devyysk 5 лет назад +3

      エッジJ it’s just practice. you don’t need to look at your fingerboard anyways when you read sheet music so

    Great version of Paganini 24. Wagner writes variations specific to the bass but still utilises the original violin variations when possible. If you have not seen solo classical bass playing before, this is good stuff. The performance is excellent and the recording quality makes the bass sound like it is in your living room. I would buy the sheet music but my solo chops are not up to it.
