@@lambchopstomb Pretty good :) I am practicing some music for Christmas, there is some kind of "Concert" coming up from the music school and I am looking forward to "performing" :) I've learned "Approach of the Swans" quite ok, so my daughters can danc Ballett to it. All in all I am happy with my Progress considering the time I can invest into it :) Thank you so much for asking :D
If you find the right instructor and you dedicate some time to it you will advance far. ive played for 1 and a half year ish, and my ongoing project is practicing Waltz 2 by Shostakovich. you got this!
Man, I am just unable to understand why do you have just this small number of subscribers, views and likes !!! You are an amazing cellist and that is really unfair 😔
Thank you for posting this phenomenal recording. I am a violinist and know how challenging this piece is in its original violin version. Viola arrangement is for a few virtuosos only. This is first time I heard it played on cello so beautifully. Incredible.
Thank you so much for your kind comment! Glad to hear this from a violinist. I always hoped that violinists don't feel offended, but understand my arrangements as an homage to their instrument and repertoire. All the best!
Bravo, bravo, bravo... What perfection, seeing you playing stimulates me to study more and more every day. The artificial harmonics were very sharp 🎵🎶😮😮
I got goosebumps at 3:35 as well as the beautiful c string resonance at 4:46, it was cool to see the different techniques and sounds that can be achieved on cello. I’m only finishing up my 1st year of cello and it’ll take a long time to reach this mastery, but I’m glad I’m able to appreciate your approach to Paganini caprice 24. Well done 😊
@@timothy.hopkins_cellist nah, I’m for real.. Pag is my guy! I’ve heard this piece played many many times on violin and a few on cello.. I’m honest, that performance was the best! AMAZING !
Bravo, bravo! That's so difficult to learn. Can you give suggestions on how to approach? I'm an advanced player in many ways who would love to have the facility with upper registers and double stops as you do. Again, bravo- maestro.
Thanks for the comment! I would suggest to incorporate any sort of exercises into your daily practice routine that help the hand understand and remember the system or the "geography" as Starker called it. Pick a few exercises and repeat them every day, e.g. start with a one octave scale up and down plucking down two strings with the thumb and then repeat this while chromatically moving upwards. Thus explore the fingerboard systematically. Make sure you focus on a healthy posture and good sound first and then on intonation. I hope this helps.
Sorry for the late response! Each variation needs an own kind of technique, so I would recommend to develop your own exercises to work on the specific challenges as systematically as you can. Do allow yourself some time! Good luck!
@@timothy.hopkins_cellistunfortunately I have to give up on the piece for my solo concert. It’s in one month and I’ve barely started comprehending the positions, high notes, harmonics, and triple stops. I’ve got most of the variations down but not enough for a concert in one month 😅 so I’m gonna just learn it for fun and play good ol Bach prelude #1 for my concert
As adult Cello Beginner, I am fully aware that I won't be around long enough to get to that Level of Mastery. Mad respect
Same here
how's your cello journey coming along 4 months later?

Wow those false harmonics at 3:33 are some of the cleanest I've ever heard
Happy you liked it! Thank you very much!
Playing this on cello seems like such a flex.

Maybe it is because it takes me decades to answer my comments 😅 Very very kind of you! Belated thanks for your feedback!
Nice playing. I love the studio.

Gorgeous playing, bravo!
Beautiful tone, excellent bow technique, what's your cello and set up?
Thanks for the comment!! It is an unknown French cello from around 1900. That day I had Larsen strings on A, D, C and a gut core (Passione) on G
Bravo!!!
Thank you!!
Amazing job! Is there anyway to get scores ?
For most variations, I used the arrangement by Luigi Silva, which you can find on imslp
holy crap
Very Well ❤️ thanks for the performance
Thank you! Happy you liked it!
how would you recommend practicing this piece? and how long did it take you to get it to this level?
Bravo, bravo!

I’m trying to perform this piece for my capstone project (fine art seal for hs) any advice for me to learn this and perform it as well as you have?

I can probably play the first ten seconds of the piece at most💀
Wow, this piece looks so physically demanding on Cello 😅
how was the cello tuned?
Normal ;)
Yo quite impressive that you still respond to a year old video. Good on you
Bravo!
Thank you :)
