Those HARMONICS 🤯 the entire performance was breathtaking
Absolutely terrific! Bravissimo! Greetings from Genova, the Paganini's city 👋
SLAY NICKKKK I MISS YOUU
I’m just mesmerized watching him play
Fantastic!!! Nicholas, is so well spoken and funny. Loved everything about this performance, which was written for a tiny violin with an EACG string set. A cello has an ADGC string set, similar to the viola. His bow arm must have ached for an hour after this. Bowing is so important in the technique of a stringed instrument that people often overlook it due to the precise fingering requirements (which are incredibly important in all pieces as well). My favorite part was the plucking and bowing switch off variation. (I don’t know Paginni’s 24th Caprice by musical notation as it is beyond my skill level). On a violin, that’s so intensive with the bow one note, then pizzicato the next and then bow the next and so forth. On a cello, I cannot imagine how much finger strength that took to pluck hard and fast enough to produce an audible note, then just as fast bow the next…. It makes my brain boggle.
Anyway, TL;dr - You are awesome, Nick! Bravissimo!
Left hand pizzicatto can be pretty intense on a cello, and that variation takes it to the extreme. Honestly, it was the only spot in the performance that wasn't ABSOLUTELY CRYSTAL CLEAR. I absolutely can't fault it though because this whole video was astounding.
This young man is just brilliant.
Impressive clear and pure harmonics. Wow. At 14 he has a definte professional career ahead of him.
I don't know much about cello, but his speed with those harmonics was EXTREME. Love it, great job!
His speech in the beginning is Frazier and Niles worthy. Terrific performance though 👍👏Amazing
