My dad threw a Mk2 Escort off the side of a mountain in New Zealand 40 years ago. The one thing he was adamant on was a fully seam welded chassis and the best quality roll cage there was, thicker by a lot than the requirement for the races and he was pretty happy to crawl out of a car that was 4 inches narrower and survived rolling down a mountain and through the tops of the trees to the ground, and he had no broken bones apart from the co-driver who I think had a broken wrist. A good cage will save your life for sure, never skimp out
My dad rolled his mk2 off the Dublin mountains 5 lads in it they all got thrown out it went so far down dad never seen it again but his brother got to it and said it was the size of a fridge the engine got ejected they never found it
Guy that i knew when i first got my licence used to rally wrx's (was a v2 i believe). Some how between him and his co driver, somoene fucked up and they missed a hairpin and went straight..... of a cliff. good cage and seat saved them.
@lockjawjak, my dad was rallying mid 70's in NZ for Toyota (Toyota Levin), and was first on the scene of accidents more than he would have liked. And some of those scenes were not pretty even with a roll cage. Props to those who build them well.
11 rolls means official wolrd record for a car rolled on camera. Before it was the Aston Martin DBS 7 times roll from Casino Royale, that held that record.

Happy to see Mick survived with no major or permanent injuries from the crash, unfortunate for the car as R33 GTR's are getting more expensive & rare as time goes on as does any JDM icon. Also good to see that the boys salvaged every part they could off it as well so it won't go to complete waste plus there is memories attached to the parts as well. Not sure if Mick or any of his mates ever see or notice anything to do with the number "11" or the time "11:11" as I have in many circumstances for a lot of years now - caught my attention to the fact the car had rolled 11 times & later mentioned that the ambulance took 11 minutes to arrive.

Those GT-R’s are crazy units & super impressive. Hope everything works out for you, family & crew. I know the emotions your experiencing as my ole man rolled 9 times with a trap of 171mph. Take your time strapping back in, there’s no shame in being hesitant or lifting, none whatsoever & don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. It still upsets me to think back so I truely wish you, your family & crew all the best in moving forward. Thanks for taking the time to educate us all. Great video man, honestly… Stay safe!!!

It's great to have good people around who are there for u and I'm sure u there for them. Wish I had good people around me but only ever had people who I give everything but don't get the same back.
@16:15 - the REAL problem is the difficulty keeping full street rego with a weld in 6 point cage (which is a bare minimum for a cage imo)... Our rego authorities need to ease up on this because there are forcing us to choose between being safe at the track or being able to cruise our cars on the street... Andrew, the whole community needs help around this issue. We need leadership on this matter and lobby for change
Holy Fack ! His spidey sense’s were telling him, before the run. But when we are in the moment you can’t stop your own momentum. This is a massive friendly reminder, what ever harness’s you have, put ‘em on ! Don’t fool around when it comes to safety protection, this good lad did it the right way in a horrible shituation. Nobody is to cool when it comes to defying death.
WOW!! What a wild ride Mick. Glad you're still with us after that. Good to hear you're itching to get back on the bike. Would've been interesting to see some pics the wreck you walked away from. But I gather there's reasons you didn't post any in the video. Here's hoping you've still got the bug to go faster than ever, and the accident hasn't dampened that bug.
When the car is getting out of control; do you ever think about lifting off the throttle in an attempt to save the car? You can tell 2-3 seconds before it went sideways the car was already losing control. You arent even racing anyone in this video. So why not save the car and potentially your life?
He literally said that’s one his problem he won’t lift he’s legs off no matter what and he wouldn’t have gotten the numbers he’s been getting if he was lifting his legs off if everytime the car was going side ways a little
My car was always going to be caged but was going to be getting engine parts first. The roller will be going straight for a full cage now. This is an incredible story i wish i never had to hear. Much love from Michigan!

Dude, thank you for sharing about car safety and everybody's dedication to the sport. Best regards mate! 🤘👌👏
I ride bikes and never cared about safety gear cost. What's the point of saving money on gear if you don't live or can't walk to enjoy it? Glade you okay Bro 👊 wild ride for sure
Great video, guy is a driver and builds amazing cars. Humble and thankful for all the people who are there for him when he needed. It's great to have good people around who are there for u and I'm sure u there for them. Wish I had good people around me but only ever had people who I give everything but don't get the same back.
My new hero What a great attitude
Glad you walked Away mate and on a good ole R33 my most favorite skyline of all
Top bloke, take nothing for granted, safety first.
Awesome video, awesome community, can’t wait to see what they do next.
If you crash on the street with a cage without a helmet, you’re going to crack your skull I guarantee. The laws aren’t there for no reason mate.
Don't use racecars on the street then. If your car is bulletproof without crumple zones you will terminate the guy driving the corolla

What a gentleman! Glad you’re all good Mick!
I mean he was there to send it
Glad your still with us Mick 👌👌 very lucky mate
Good bloke
Good vibes
Good outcome for such a bad situation
Good work boys 👌🏼
Bro shatterd for the gtr but you are alive and the make 2 build will be even better 👌
Glad you're still with us Mick
Awesome video mate. Can't agree more. Really Hope you're doing well. Safety first. Don't street race boys and girls
Worst survived crash I’ve seen in a while. Good stuff mate, glad you’re still keeping at it

Check this one out!
thats crazy you had that gut feeling and went against its. I've done the same and it didn't end well for me either
Mick, glad to see you healthy and keeping your positive attitude. Big respect from your fan boys from Germany. Keep it up !
Much love from Michigan!
bless you Mick
Whew! I bet it was hard to sleep for a few nights after this. Anytime I have been in a wreck, its the only thing I see replaying in my mind every time I would close my eyes. Glad you're safe.
Did he have a Hans device? Love this guy's attitude and spirit. Can't wait to see the red car. It would look better white but red is good too.
