Absolutely! I already use my Gear VR to watch movies and TV shows and the Quest is an upgrade in every respect from the Gear. I work an overnight shift and have a TON of downtime. Being able to fire up Hulu or Netflix is essential. My only gripe is that DirecTV Now's app doesn't work with Samsung Phonecast so I cannot watch live TV on the headset currently.
why cant i watch 3d movies that ive copied to the quest 2 in 3d ? is there a way to simply watch them in 3d on the quest 2 without streaming from pc and setting up servers and all that bollocks ??

@@antitrustanonyme6322 there will be cinemas that feel like you are sitting in a movie theater, with a huge screen in front of you, and things like big screen. It's really cool if you haven't experienced it in VR yet. It's pretty awesome!!

The quest will be nice just for the wireless convenience and being able to take it with you places easily, but the battery life is a concern for me as well. Luckily we will be able to use battery power banks with it to keep it going longer.
The reason 3d is better in VR is because the glasses you're looking at two images on one screen sperating by color with the glasses. While VR gets rid of that whole issue with using two separate screens. VR is actually the first actual 3d movie experience. So, as always, you are correct! :)
The advantage of 3D at the moment is only the perfect separation of the images, because there are really two images at once. No crosstalk. The picture quality on a TV or projector is much better. Only when VR has much higher resolutions there will be any depth of field at all.

Can you make the video player follow your head position? I think it can be pretty uncomfortable to have your head limited to a certain range of motion (rotation).
Your 360 video looks very clear and sharp. My main complaint with the Go is that 360 vids are kind of fuzzy. Does the quest really look that much better?

I have the same impression about watching 3D movies. In cinema watching a 3D movie kind of sucks. It leaves me with eyestrain, you need special glasses etc.. but in VR it's all part of the same virtual world 2D/3D/VR360. Totally seamless.

But file doesn't play, must need a aacs codec. Is there a blue-ray player for Android that might work? So much easier to just rent the movie and play it directly.

I must say I find the screen door effect quite disturbing when watchng movies . It is like watching a movie on a tube TV from a distance of 1 m. In games you do not see it that much but when watching movies it is extremly noticible and quite disturbing
i wanna know the resolution you actually see in there. when u watch a 2d movies does it look 720p to you? and 360 videos are they like 240p very blurry? 🤔
with gearVR and Rift i felt everything was 360p, but on the oculus go we definitely got an upgrade, felt more like 720p. Im sure Quest will be even nicer
in vr supersampling works for videos very well. i mean when the video is higher then your screen resolution the scaler will still use that high def video and you will still see it partially,, since you move your head a tiny bit all the time. the same way as supersampling in games removes flicker and blurriness in pc vr.

Thanks for the video ladies. In my opinion the main selling points for me would be comfort and licensing. Since the Quest is geared towards gaming I’m not so sure Oculus would purchase the license for NBA VR. I’m sure it will have Oculus Venues but maybe not. Comfort wise the GO is a clear winner. 100 grams lighter and more comfortable cushion and straps help especially after 2 hours of consuming media. As bad ass as the Quest is it’s not the most comfortable and it could use a better processor. I’m afraid the comfort factor will deter some people and those that buy may return the units. Especially when the GO is $199! I’ll keep an eye on you lovelies for more exciting VR videos. Thank you! ❤️
I feel the Go is more front heavy than the Quest because of the straps. Comfort very personal. But you are right that the Quest can be uncomfy after a while too. There is a solution to this though! We will make an accessory video on this soon.
Side loaded kodi with plex addon or virtual desktop on my go works perfect. Throw in the soft strap and light head set and I can lay down on the sofa and watch movies to the point where I often fall asleep. Also with it plugged in while laying down, 3 dof makes zero difference. Throw in the cheaper price and I'd take the go over the quest for movies. I am getting an S to replace my uncomfortable rift though
@@CasandChary I'm sure they have some reasoning behind shipping the USB-C->USB-C cable. I suppose it doesn't hurt to point out people like myself with a desktop covered in USB-A ports will need an adapter or a different cable. Perhaps they figured since this was a mobile headset people were more likely to connect it to a phone or a tablet for a media source.
Can you play a movie on the Quest while in darkness? (Laying in bed at night with the lights off). I’ve heard the Quest won’t operate without sufficient light in the room. Some people suggest it should switch to 3DOF mode which is fine for watching movies, but others say it doesn’t allow any apps to start (including media players) until there is sufficient light in the room.
After the dilema i had on choosing a monitor, now i have dilema on which oculus i should choose. I have a powerful computer that supports vr, so if i choose rift s i will be able to play more and better games but, i also like the freedom that oculus quest give. Please help!!! :)
If you own a VR ready PC. Rift S is still a better choice! Quest is great for what it can do but it has its limits comparing with PC VR. Would only recommend Quest if you are gonna use it on the road a lot.
Be aware, everyone, that as of this moment, you CANNOT watch videos on the Quest if you are in a darkened room. Without light, the Quest currently puts up a message complaining about low light, and you will not be able to go to the home screen and/or start any apps.
The price on the quest in Canada searching online seems to be ~1000 where the Go is on sale for 199 right now on Prime Day. I'm leaning to the Go because of this atm. The price on the quest is likely price gouging right now as there's no stock but it makes it considerably more expensive. At this price I will wait for better technology in future versions I think and get the Go now for video etc. while on the road in my RV
NMS Cafe Ka-Tet in America the quest is 400 but the go is terrible the go has 3 AOF and the quest has 6 AOF basically that means room to move around Oculus go: you cannot move around Oculus quest: you can move around as much as you want unless something is in your way

Besides I have a PSVR if I really want 6DOF and much better games anyways. I don't need 6DOF to watch media either so again why would pay an extra $800+?
That's one question she didn't mention if the cameras can track controls in pitch black dark. If it can't then the oculus go is the clear winner for watching media in vr

My main interests in these VR/AR headsets resolve around watching movies and tv shows such that it looks and feels like I'm viewing them in a large IMAX theater. In addition to Netflix and Hulu, I'd like to be able to connect my PLEX account and perhaps even an Amazon Prime app.

Does having a display so close to your eyes cause eye strain? I know that smartphones and computers can cause eye fatigue over time because we are not meant to focus our eyes so close over long periods of time, but I don't know to which degree this problem exists with VR devices.
No it doesn’t since they are oled displays. Plus there is a nightlight option so it will make the screen warmer for no eye strain. The quest is wonderful
I wish you focused more on software, games, apps for pc vr than hardware...maybe new released games reviews? Some top lists of specific games? That would be nice
Seeing that the quest is new and coming out this month i think a lot of people including myself have questions before buying. So these are very helpful for us!

Wait, the Quest doesn't play 5K videos, even including Oculus' own 5K version of Henry for example? I'm pretty sure the Go can do 5K videos so I don't see any reason why this wouldn't b something the Quest could do. Actually polarized light is used in 3D movies to show 2 images. The glasses have a vertical and horizontal polarized lens.

Yes! But it will resort back to a 3DoF mode (basically like the Oculus Go) when in total darkness

Hi Cas nice video! I just received my Oculus Quest and I'm facing a problem with blurry scenes and the low-resolution environment! I have set up the RUclips VR as well and the quality is horrible even when you set it to Highest! Can you please tell us how do you get such sharp 360 videos and content on the Quest!
I must say I find the screen door effect quite disturbing when watchng movies . It is like watching a movie on a tube TV from a distance of 1 m. In games you do not see it that much but when watching movies it is extremly noticible and quite disturbing
i wanna know the resolution you actually see in there. when u watch a 2d movies does it look 720p to you? and 360 videos are they like 240p very blurry? 🤔
with gearVR and Rift i felt everything was 360p, but on the oculus go we definitely got an upgrade, felt more like 720p. Im sure Quest will be even nicer

in vr supersampling works for videos very well. i mean when the video is higher then your screen resolution the scaler will still use that high def video and you will still see it partially,, since you move your head a tiny bit all the time.
the same way as supersampling in games removes flicker and blurriness in pc vr.
It looked sharper than the Go to me! So I guess it looked kinda full HD.
Thanks for your video! I have an Oculus Go (mostly just to watch videos), and I've been desperately wanting to know about the improved viewing experience on the Quest. Can you PLEASE tell me the video resolution and bit rate that successfully worked on the Quest - in your demonstration. And also, what video resolution, bit rate, and codec of the 5k video that didn't work on the Quest.
I'm eager to know, is there a way I can watch video files that I have imported from my computer in theater mode or at least with the surrounding all black?
I noticed I currently can't and haven't find a way to do make it happen.
I want to be able to watch movies I imported, in the same fashion of watching a RUclips video in full screen mode or any video on the internet.

Thanks for the video ladies. In my opinion the main selling points for me would be comfort and licensing. Since the Quest is geared towards gaming I’m not so sure Oculus would purchase the license for NBA VR. I’m sure it will have Oculus Venues but maybe not. Comfort wise the GO is a clear winner. 100 grams lighter and more comfortable cushion and straps help especially after 2 hours of consuming media. As bad ass as the Quest is it’s not the most comfortable and it could use a better processor. I’m afraid the comfort factor will deter some people and those that buy may return the units. Especially when the GO is $199! I’ll keep an eye on you lovelies for more exciting VR videos. Thank you! ❤️
I feel the Go is more front heavy than the Quest because of the straps. Comfort very personal. But you are right that the Quest can be uncomfy after a while too. There is a solution to this though! We will make an accessory video on this soon.

Side loaded kodi with plex addon or virtual desktop on my go works perfect. Throw in the soft strap and light head set and I can lay down on the sofa and watch movies to the point where I often fall asleep. Also with it plugged in while laying down, 3 dof makes zero difference. Throw in the cheaper price and I'd take the go over the quest for movies.

2:24 It should be USB-C on one side and USB-A on the other. If not you can get one of those cables essentially anywhere.
You can get it with your Android smartphone
The cable itself is actually USB-C to USB-C. But yes you can buy a USB-A to C cable or adapter. Works fine.
@@CasandChary I'm sure they have some reasoning behind shipping the USB-C->USB-C cable. I suppose it doesn't hurt to point out people like myself with a desktop covered in USB-A ports will need an adapter or a different cable. Perhaps they figured since this was a mobile headset people were more likely to connect it to a phone or a tablet for a media source.

Can you play a movie on the Quest while in darkness? (Laying in bed at night with the lights off). I’ve heard the Quest won’t operate without sufficient light in the room. Some people suggest it should switch to 3DOF mode which is fine for watching movies, but others say it doesn’t allow any apps to start (including media players) until there is sufficient light in the room.
How did you get that microphone on your oculus quest? ( Hoe kreeg je die microfoon op je oculus quest?)
The Modmic wireless uses magnet that I stuck at the side of the headset.

Can you stream what you are seeing to a tv or pc? I see you are doing it...but what do you use?
OK. Plugged in the cable to the pc and to the VR headset but it doesn't come up as a Quest drive on the PC.

After the dilema i had on choosing a monitor, now i have dilema on which oculus i should choose.
I have a powerful computer that supports vr, so if i choose rift s i will be able to play more and better games but, i also like the freedom that oculus quest give.

I went for the Rift S due to more game selection on the oculus store, and you also get access to SteamVR games

If you own a VR ready PC. Rift S is still a better choice! Quest is great for what it can do but it has its limits comparing with PC VR. Would only recommend Quest if you are gonna use it on the road a lot.

Be aware, everyone, that as of this moment, you CANNOT watch videos on the Quest if you are in a darkened room. Without light, the Quest currently puts up a message complaining about low light, and you will not be able to go to the home screen and/or start any apps.

Movies in the Oculus make you feel like you are wathing them in the theatre. I like to watch Netflix movies while I travel.

The price on the quest in Canada searching online seems to be ~1000 where the Go is on sale for 199 right now on Prime Day. I'm leaning to the Go because of this atm. The price on the quest is likely price gouging right now as there's no stock but it makes it considerably more expensive. At this price I will wait for better technology in future versions I think and get the Go now for video etc. while on the road in my RV
NMS Cafe Ka-Tet in America the quest is 400 but the go is terrible the go has 3 AOF and the quest has 6 AOF basically that means room to move around
Oculus go: you cannot move around
Oculus quest: you can move around as much as you want unless something is in your way
@@KleptocracyCagedLiberty Thanks that changes nothing of what I said though. The price difference for us is significantly more as I mentioned then it is for you and I think you mean DOF. Besides I have a PSVR if I really want 6DOF and much better games anyways. I don't need 6DOF to watch media either so again why would pay an extra $800+?

That's one question she didn't mention if the cameras can track controls in pitch black dark. If it can't then the oculus go is the clear winner for watching media in vr
@@Ascendancy- can't watch it like in bed with the lights off that would be lame I'm sure they can fix that though like you don't need tracking they can just turn it off during that case if you want I hope. Like make three degrees of freedom instead of six during night time

Can't use it well in the dark. Haven't tried ONLY watching movies though. Good question. I'll test it out for our review.
My main interests in these VR/AR headsets resolve around watching movies and tv shows such that it looks and feels like I'm viewing them in a large IMAX theater. In addition to Netflix and Hulu, I'd like to be able to connect my PLEX account and perhaps even an Amazon Prime app.

Mike vom Mars It's an Android device just like any other. Depends on the app. Skybox, for instance, can definitely do it.
Does having a display so close to your eyes cause eye strain? I know that smartphones and computers can cause eye fatigue over time because we are not meant to focus our eyes so close over long periods of time, but I don't know to which degree this problem exists with VR devices.
No it doesn’t since they are oled displays. Plus there is a nightlight option so it will make the screen warmer for no eye strain. The quest is wonderful

I wish you focused more on software, games, apps for pc vr than hardware...maybe new released games reviews? Some top lists of specific games? That would be nice
Seeing that the quest is new and coming out this month i think a lot of people including myself have questions before buying. So these are very helpful for us!

@@matulostyle i feel this video is not entirely comparing the two it is more informative on how to get your videos onto the quest and her opinion on how they look. I agree one video would be enough, if one video covered everything people want to know which i have not seen one video talking about this subject so i found it very helpful. After the quest is released and more people have their hands on it to make videos im sure she will move on to other things! :)
@@matulostyle We hear you. We are just preparing for our Quest review and while researching the Quest we want to share our thoughts beforehand too. It's just a very trendy topic right now with a lot of new first timers coming to VR atm that we'd like to cater as our goal has always been to get more people into VR. However, we won't forget about VR enthusiasts like you either as you are who we do it for, so videos on the Index, new VR games and older VR headsets are all coming again. Promise :-)
Wait, the Quest doesn't play 5K videos, even including Oculus' own 5K version of Henry for example? I'm pretty sure the Go can do 5K videos so I don't see any reason why this wouldn't b something the Quest could do. Is it maybe just a feature that Oculus will included shortly after the Quest launches or something?
