If there is any way you can recover some old on-board GT1 footage from the Aston Martin DBR9 and the Maserati GT1, it is a shame there are not more than a few that you can find on youtube atm.

Some of those cars were meant for endurance racing. So for reliability reason they top them around 9k rpm (787B, IMSA GTO and this one the 792-P). There is a video online of this car topping the rev limiter, in long beach IIRC

I wonder one thing, how much sound insulation material they put that it caught fire? From what i read one place, it seems IMSA used to (or still have) noise regulation limit at certain decibel at certain distance

Listening again with headphones on this time i can hear the engine still dropping revs like it normally would. It does still look and sound a bit odd. Could be just the way he drives or something with the car. Somebody with more knowledge of the era might know.
rotary engines rev up super fast so any throttle input makes it go crazy. On downshifts they heel toe and using the side of your foot to blip isn't easy to make it sound good especially for that engine. He's not exactly meaning to do that but it just happens.
that taco is annoying and he was being too friendly, rotas need to be driven harder, all or nothing with that engine, needs a decent 3 stage shift light in prerifial vision

why did the rev gauge keep dropping down to zero most times he came off the gas? why not just a heel and toe blip
first couple thousand rpm aren't indicated. seems common in this era of cars.
