If men had to do what women had to do as the character Durga, we would have broken down a long time ago. Prayaana labs brings out the truth that women are MUCH more able to do but are either not taking the chance to boldly inch like Durga or are severely oppressed under the shameful patriarchy. If the husband and wife really decide how to run their home and raise their children at the same time, it can be win win for the family and thereby the society. CV and team, I wish that you all make more such paradigm challenging short films and Oscar winning movies. No dream is too small and no woman/man is too weak to achieve. Cheers and God bless!!

What if she doesn't have any passion worth selling or monetizing?? I think she still deserves respect...be it this short film or movies like English Vinglish/how old are you or serials like Kudumbavilaku....everywhere the usually ignored protagonist homemaker follows her passion and succeeds and earns everyone's respect...I think even if she is not ambitious or passionate she need her me time and people at home need to share the load and respect her as an individual....Infact every person at hope be it children or grandparents or homemaker.. everyone deserves unconditional love and respect....ones money/good marks in exam/successful career...these should never matter...democracy and equality should be practiced at home as well
Even those who earn are not getting the respect they deserve in our society! Atleast financial independence will help the women to be bolder ! Society will continue to disrespect women for atleast next one hundred yrs. That's what the gender studies prove. 👍🏼 Also, the whole msg of the movie is that a woman's identity is beyond the four walls of her house.
Since it is not practiced in indian homes to respect everyone and treat everyone equally, we women have to try the harder way, that is to earn money and earn respect. It's unfortunate but still powerful way.

Thank you, this is exactly what I say and sorry for my lengthy comment and any grammatical mistakes. This should be applied for dowry cases too. One of my friends told me that she or their family shouldn't have to give a huge dowry because her parents paid for her master's in the US. And I asked her, what about girls/women who couldn't study because of any reason or couldn't afford to get a degree in the US? What about them? Should they have to give a huge amount of dowry? How is that fair?
It's annoying to think that higher education is now used as a bargaining thing for dowry. Which demeans the entire process. The bargain here is, if she has a good higher degree, she can go to work after marriage and any money she earns would go to the guy's family. So, technically instead of dowry, the woman will work and give her salary (dowry). What if the girl doesn't want to work after marriage? This applies to men too. What if the guy doesn't want to work for a living? Shouldn't women take responsibility? There are few things that men have it unfair but since the context is not about men's issues, I am not going to talk about those.
One of my relatives (affluent family) gave a huge amount of jewelery, cash and other things to their girl for her wedding... The girl's mom was saying that the guy's side (also affluent) should do this and this, and treat her like this and this, because, they are giving her this much, and she is not going empty-handed. I couldn't say anything to their face (didn't want to ruin their moments) but was thinking, does it mean that the guy's family can treat the girl however they want if she or her family couldn't afford riches as dowry??!?!
One interesting and sad thing is, they both were women and their thoughts were like that. I pray and wish for the generations to come, to realize that, not everything has to be dependent on men wants.
This movie can be a great awakening for many women who are talented yet not found their true calling because of living life like a domestic loop. A great effort by Dr. CeeVee. Congratulations to all team members. I've had the privilege of talking to career aspirants at Prayaana during the pandemic. I was amazed to see the energy and how India can benefit from these initiatives. At the moment, only 6% of urban women are part of workforce in India.

I think its funny how in the end the kids and dad are in the kitchen still talking about hopeless upuma and the mom is busy in class.. The ending was very realistic there wasnt like an apology, there were just actions BECAUSE BROWN FAMILIES ARE LIKE THAT. We dont apologise we ask food edukate 😭😂
Truly inspiring and something many women might be able to relate, especially the ones who Are in a dilemma if to bounce back to their professional lives..
