Tamiya Hornet Vs. Tamiya Grasshopper 2 - RC RWD Buggy Rally Head to Head 07 - 'Hopping Battle!'

'Hornet Racing ' take on 'Team Hoppers" again. After beating the original Grasshopper can the Hornet hold off the newer Grasshopper 2?
Three stages each with three laps on ad hoc stages -The fastest overall time over the three stages .....wins!
For anyone who cares i’ve added a league table to keep track of results .
Points awarded thus :
1st place - 9pts
2nd place - 4pts
3rd place - 1pt ( if applicable)
Please note - These races are by no means definitive.
Both are running in Tamiya Torque Tuned motors

Wow, i didn't see that coming! The speed difference surprised me but I could see the traction problems the Hornet was having! Great entertainment all the same, Dom! Cheers! 🍻😎👍

thanks mate . i think ultimately it was the lack of traction / this fishtailing which killed off the hornets race

Another great head to head of a couple bouncy and sometimes very unpredictable buggies! LOL!! They are both fun to drive but those hoppers like to dart off into nowhere in the blink of an eye! Good job keeping them reined in enough to complete the laps!

Nice Dom! That Hornet seemed to really struggle in the sand. Grasshopper 2 was impressive . Those CVAs help 🙌🏻

Awesome. I correct me if I'm wrong. The GH2 is the newer car. So it should be better, but it did a bigger gap on the Hornet than on the original Grasshopper. Which is lower powered than te Hornet. This challenge is teally suprising with every episode.

Hornet Vs the Grasshopper 2, the GH2 with oil shocks really makes it closer the the GH2-Super G. The GH2 did perform well over the Hornet.

GH2 was surprisingly faster than I thought. Softer rear springs were definitely the way to go. Great match up! 👍🍻

Fun run Dom!
The results are not surprising, as the GH2 is an evolution over the original hornet, and therefore in theory should be better!
As for looks.... The hornet takes that award all day long!
Got to give both buggies credit for even managing to get through that thick dry sand really mate.
A most interesting league table is starting to form.... with some unusual results for sure, although we have also been finding similar with our fig 8 time trials..... some of the cheaper, more basic Tamiyas are out performing some of the cars that are on paper heaps better!
Will you be considering entering the sand viper into Peter smiths speed challenge mate? 🤔
