Without much mincing words she is my favorite Tamiya 4wd. When I heard about the release I ordered it as soon as possible, it was a wish to have it and I made it happen. Congratulations for the channel, for the preparation and for the passion you dedicate to this hobby.
Great review Greg. I've got one backordered. I just got my Boomerang and it's awesome. It's so fun building these, painting and decaling them. I love it. It just makes you have fun and laugh. Thanks for sharing.
I had the original 1980s version, initially the futuristic wedge shaped silver styling attracted me over the traditional buggy styling of the other models. I enjoyed the build process and driving it, over the years it got put away in my garage and forgotten about.... Found again, recommissioned driven briefly but I didn't feel that same draw, so sadly I sold it Huge regrets...⚠️😔 Looking at it now I feel it was years ahead of it's time and I wish I still had it. So much so I've had to buy another not so vintage RC buggy to restore. 😁👍
got one of these on a trip to Japan back in the early 90's and never saw another one here in the states. Was a super cool buggy and I loved it but nobody had parts for it back then so waiting for parts from Japan when it broke sucked but cool to see it back again.
Can’t wait to get one, awesome vintage rerelease. I’ll need to buy a ball bearing set & a Tamiya BZ super stock motor, a little more performance. Great Video 👍🏻
Very cool, I had a few old tamiyas yrs ago including a frog. Fun memories! Toss in a brushless setup and a lipo and make it a sleeper! The suspension and set up wouldn't handle it great but it's all in fun!!
I really appreciated the fact that you didn't use it on the large ramp, because being a model from the 80s it is not suitable for the track, unfortunately there are model makers who use them badly with the risk of breaking them.
Yes, I agree about the sound of the transmission, it is beautiful and very characteristic. On mine I inserted the 17 steel pinion combined with the classic silver can, but I would like to get a torque tuned or at most a sport tuned one, I won't go any further because having the differentials exposed I don't see it suitable for overly powerful engines. greetings, bye. 😁
My first hobby grade RC! And that I still have (!), minus the body (replacing with a TBG repro that fits ok) Of course I started a restoration (with the help of JB plastic weld on the ancient and well-loved ABS) on it 2 weeks before news of the re-re. But it will be nice to have my 35 year old Super Sabre back in action!
Awesome, I want one. I'm fine with the vinzage technology and it looks sharp. One thing which pushed it downwards my project list, is the body. Cutted and drilled is fine, but I wanted a custom paint, so I'm hoping that they bring out the spare body vefy quick.
I have a question in regards to the spacers used for the gear mesh. I am getting ready to build the Tamiya Boomerang which shares a lot of the same parts as the super sabre. I'm just wondering if the spacing for the gear mesh would apply to the Boomerang as well.
I have a love/hate relationship with Tamiyas. I wish they would include full bearing set and would upgrade the plastic to a glass/nylon mix and just update battery bays to a rectangular lipo shape. Other than that hard to beat the detail Tamiya puts in their body kits.
This was my 1st real grade RC back in the day. Blackfoot and then the Clodbuster. So happy Tamiya re released it.
Same here! And I still have my Clod from back then too, albeit modded a bit.
Awesome collection to have back in the golden age of RC
It was one of my favorites back in the day. Very cool!!
A friend had one back in the day. We raced each other a lot. The Super Sabre always ran away from my Kyosho Raider. Good times and the best memories!
Great vintage 4wd
I love it! I'm going to have to add one to my collection for sure. The body on the Super Sabre is just soooo cool!
It was My first Rc 😍
I have had one on order as soon as I found out we were getting it again, can't wait to build this on Christmas
Still looks futuristic!!
The Boomerang and hot shot was the boys back then

These Tamiya kits are really cool. I will have to build at least one this winter. Oh and Hey Southern Vermont here so might run into some day.
Kool didnt know they were reissuing these. I still have my Original Tamiya Thunder Dragon which is pretty much the same as that one
For me this is the Best Locking RC car Ever.
Really cool to see and hear this ripping around.

The first buggy I raced in the 80s.

@@snigs5T5 i planned metallic cand red😁
@@RCBirds check out the TBG repro body. fit is pretty good but takes some work.
@@snigs5T5 thanks for the tip.
Handles surprisingly well.
Had an OG Boomerang. Think I may need to revisit my childhood. Did you have a video review of the Boomerang?
Want one today!
Nice review!
Love it!
Asplenia.
Nice 👍🤩 Cool that it's precut, as it's not the easiest to cut 🥴
I have a Tamiya Falcon, it's a shame that parts are no longer available.
Nice review. Does the super sabre use any of the same parts that are used for the Hotshot?
I still have my Quick Drive Super Sabre. Still fun to drive. Can anyone recommend a modern day alternative to the original QD's?
Are your rear tires hard to turn when the gear cases are screwed together?
I have a question in regards to the spacers used for the gear mesh. I am getting ready to build the Tamiya Boomerang which shares a lot of the same parts as the super sabre. I'm just wondering if the spacing for the gear mesh would apply to the Boomerang as well.
Hi do you know to to switch band on these Tamiya radio control? Thank You'
Radio shack the white tiger
Still fun why Not ?
Top speed??
The Canadian Tamiya distributor does not include speed controls with their kits. 😒
Trick or Treat........no candy..😔 il take the arrma outcast 4s. .😊
I was so pumped for this but after seeing your run video I’m suddenly not and it’s kind of depressing 🤷🏻♂️😅

Did you see the new bt01 from tamiya?
