It makes me so happy that companies like Tamiya and Associated are still in business after 40ish years. I still have an original Midnight Pumpkin and Wild Willy from my dad :)
not to split hairs, but those companies are a fair bit older. tamiya is almost 80 years in business (and manufactures rc cars since '76), asso over 60. even losi was founded over and traxxas almost 40 years ago. :-)
@@powderriver2424It warms my heart to read your comment! I'm 57 now, and way back I also had a Grasshopper and a Frog! They were a blast back then, and this new thing doesn't seem light years ahead of the Frog! My last buggy was an R/C-10 Associated, and that was fun! Long time ago.

Great review. Wasn't initially interested by this kit however it looks like Tamiya has a clear direction and contemporary market understanding. A stock class with this chassis would be awesome to see going around the track.
I am glad to see a full on kit. I miss the true depth of the RC hobby. When I seen this new buggy became very excited this appears to be an awesome buggy.
Yeah, the RTR craze has made the hobby less fun. People dont seem to want to build RC cars anymore, Arrma even had trouble selling their rollers, because people rather bought the RTRs.
Looks really good and great to see Tamiya starting to finally make new chassis vs just constantly re-releasing old designs. I used to be a massive tamiya collector till I moved to lego but now I am getting out of lego this might get me back into tamiya rc.

Great job on the review, especially all the detail pics during the building process. And I agree that gives a nod to the Tamiya Super Champ...it is like a modern version of the SC.
Excellent review on this, thanks for putting it together, and answers a lot of questions that are floating around about it. I wasn't to bothered about it on it's initial announcement but seeing it in a real world environment, definitely one to consider now. Having always been a fan of the classic SRB's from Tamiya this a great step forward to offer something more in line with what Kyosho have done with their legendary series by updating them to accept more modern electronics. You have also picked a fantastic colour as well, I think I prefer it to the blue to be honest, top job 👍🏻
Surely Tamiya are on to a winner with this one! They are finally back to doing what they do best. I wonder if they will offer a single tyre and wheel to go on the back as an option or whether they will make you buy a set of 4?
My lovely wife has just bought me one of these for my birthday. First new RC for 12 years! Can’t believe it but I have to wait for end of the month to open it 😢😂

Arrma had the Raider XL and honestly, I don’t know why it isn’t more popular than what it was because I own one, and it’s very fun to drive. I’m glad Tamiya is bringing Vintage back too.
I love the softer long travel suspension setup! Gives me that Kyosho Rampage Pro truck vibe, hope Tamiya introduces a chalanger to it based on this buggy.
Finally! I've been waiting for so long to see a review of the BBX since it was announced. I'll be waiting to hear long term reviews of this buggy but so far it's looking so good. Well done tamiya!
