As creators, we shouldn't need to worry and have to deal with that kind of stuff...Come on Maxon, get your sh*t together.

Totally agree. You'd think they'd actually it before releasing it to the public, right?

Thanks from Kazakhstan. I work in blender but face the same problems. Your video helped solve them!

Thanks. Its pain because then you have different game engines using different type of importers and shaders so some might use special parameter for reflection. Some might not use bump textures at all. Some might interpret ambient and diffuse lightning differently. The roughness and metallic might not be supported so in the end I think its best to stick with one tool and one custom made databank. I dont see any other way around unfortunately.

What a mess - great overview ;). Did you know that you can export Redshift Textures/nodes with the RS Proxy exporter? At least in older RS versions it allowed you to transfer your Shader 100 Correctly to another DCC which supports RS...

Ikd why but when I export obj file in C4D 2023 , in my .mtl file there no even the map of texture. This lines of text, (where we have .jpg at the end) do not exist. Could you please help me to know why? Maybe I should change some settings when I export the obj file . Thank you

Maybe you're using the texture in the wrong slot? OBJs don't support reflectance based materials so if you're using that workflow you won't see anything in the .mtl file.Try using the regular cinema 4D standard material (color channel, normal channel etc) and see how that works out for you.
Either way though even if you don't see the texture path in your .mtl file you can still add it manually.
Just type in the normal commands for the different channels (map_Kd, norm, map_Pr) along with the path of the texture - as you see in the video - and you're good to go.

Nice tutorial! But, the question is how to open MTL files generated by other programs into the C4D?

Not much is different. Just make sure the paths on the .mtl file are setup correctly. If not, edit them accordingly. Just go through the video once more to see how to adjust the paths.

I have a problem similar in Blender. When I try to export my project to OBJ. format the textures simply don't want to show up, and the worst path is I can't find any solution online for this inconvenience :( .
