I'm still surprised mark millar and Brian k vaughans swamp thing books haven't been collected. Even a Rick V. OHC and one for Andy diggle too. Swamp thing has so many great runs .
I read these issues when they came out, and even though I loved the extreme horror in Snyders run, Soules run blew my mind. I cried during the last issue, and i had never done that before with a comicbook. The ending is so beautiful and almost poëtic.
I LOVED the entire New 52 Swamp Thing. In fact, I would be hard-pressed to read a Swamp Thing story that I'm not able to find enjoyment in. However, "ABSOLUTELY NOT! HELL NO!" was the precise right answer to "Is this as good as Alan Moore's Swamp Thing?"
Nice. I have had this on pre-order forever. In case anyone missed it, you can also now pre-order Absolute Swamp Thing Volume 3 (at least on Amazon - my only option). Lastly, if anyone is on the fence about the Nancy Collins Omnibus 1) is it a truly beautiful and quality book, 2) it is very under rated in its quality of story telling. It is one of the best Swamp Thing runs, maybe geared towards adults a bit more because of the pacing and topics, but it is very well done. All of them are worth the premium coin.
@@DrDoomPool yeah. I had already read everything prior to his stuff before getting dcui, and as much as Moore's run can be read as it's own thing, having the knowledge of what the series was beforehand enhances the experience a lot. I think Veitch carries that forward pretty well
Awesome dude. I recently filled out my Swamp Thing collection with singles so I have everything up to this new 52 stuff, so this will be a must buy for me. Ive only read the Alan Moore stuff and just started reading my Bronze age omni earlier this week. So far, it is pretty cool and the art is fantastic.
Never read any swamp thing before mainly cause I never really understood who or what it was.. well I loved this video the artwork is amazing. I just went on OPB and ordered this book and the 3 absolute swamp thing volumes by Alan Moore! Can’t wait to jump in

Dang I said I was not going to upgrade my trade paperbacks, but I am really getting in to omnis, I think it is because of this channel, lol. Also it was a great run, it desereves to be collected in the best format.

Always wondered when Charles Soule's Swampy would get a deluxe hardcover. I kinda regret buyin' the Scott Snyder book now. This omni looks super good though. I'm still disappointed that Batwoman's big HC is taking forever to come out. Greg Rucka's Wonder Woman also deserves the omnibus treatment.
I just picked this up off Amazon, I've not started it yet because I'm reading the Masters of the Universe Marvel omnibus. But the point of my comment is in the Masters of the Universe/Injustice comic, Swamp Thing comes to Eternia to kidnap Heman. Well I mean you see him first and the Batman and so on.
Definitely picking it up. Haven’t read yet so I’m looking forward to that as well. I know Charles Soule was super happy about him getting an omnibus, way for DC to disrespect him. Sad.
Just finished this book last night. Soule’s run is stronger. But in Snyder’s run, there’s an interesting plot device he invented which destroys a timeline but push forward the continuity nonetheless . This is way ahead of the time when HoX/PoX started.
So puzzling that Charles Soule was omitted from the cover credits! I have the Snyder OHC but still on the fence with this one with so many omnis on the horizon. Great binding though!
Already pre-ordered on Amazon. I'm hyped cause Scott Snyder's run hasn't been collected here in Brazil, only Charles Soules' run, which I now have upgraded to this Omnibus. That leaves only Brian K Vaughan's run out of my collected Swamp Thing collection, hope they release a deluxe edition since it's only two paperbacks, and they're impossible to find.
Once I finish collecting all the Hellblazer trades I'm gonna give Swamp Thing a try. If the Bronze Age omnibus is still available I'll try that out, if not I'll get this.

Looking forward to this omni because i sold my trades. I don´t understand why Soule´s name isn´t on the cover,he even wrote a couple of issues more if i´m not mistaken. I liked his run more than Snyder´s,it was a bit more´sophisticated´
I'd love to upgrade my paperbacks, but I really don't love HUGE omnis. If they had split this into two volumes I'm 99% sure I'd have upgraded. With the size though I'll be debating with myself until it releases I'm sure. I share your sadness about Soule not being named the dust jacket. Met him at MegaCon one year, he's a great guy and a fantastic author.
Hello Omar. Can you include miss printing errors on your reviews? For example, the superman omnibus by grant morrisson has a lot of problems, pages without text, error on the credits name, pages without numbering. Etc?
I went over the credits and missing page numbers on my overview. I hadn’t reread anything past the first issue of Morrison’s animal in omnibus format and it was issue 2 that had the missing word bubbles on one page.

I agree with much of what you've said. Charles > Scott in this Swamp Thing run. Also, I think it is quite unfair to compare Alan's work on ST with anyone else since his work on the character was so groundbreaking that writers after him use that as their template. I really enjoy watching your reviews. I'm discovering a lot comics I should give a try based on your recommendation seeing that we basically have the same tastes on stories.

Great overview, thanks Omar. Got my copy already, can’t wait to read it. The art is awesome throughout, Paquette draws a great Superman in the early issues. Odd that Soule doesn’t get credit on the cover though, I think that’s poor form from DC.
Vertigo was not a different Earth, it was an imprint with titles aimed at mature audiences. It had creator-owned titles (like Preacher, for example) which were each set in their own independent reality; but it also had titles that offered a more "mature" take on established DC characters. These DC characters were still part of the DC Universe and even appeared in non-Vertigo DC titles from time to time (like Swamp Thing, who attended Hal Jordan's funeral in the aftermath of the The Final Night crossover). Come on Omar, you know this.

As usual, DC makes weird design choices with the New 52 thing on the spine. It's not even surprising anymore Also, i miss that there's not Table of Content, i like those
Batman was in the Alan Moore Swamp thing run and he played a HUGE role in one of the stories toward the end of that run, and Swamp Thing also appeared in Batman 522 from the 90s, so having Superman in a Swamp Thing comic really isn't that shocking.
DC killing it with their recent omnibuses. Justice League, Superman Tomassi and Flashpoint still to come. Empyre and All New Wolverine are all Marvel have for the rest of the year.
So I’m about to commit sacrilege. I really hate this art. I’m about 10 issues in, and while it’s beautiful and vibrant, it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to tell if a page is a one page or two page spread. Most of the pages run over each other and have matching transition colors and panels that would make you think it’s a full page spread but it isn’t. So it’s really unnatural to read because I’m constantly spending too much time figuring out the panel reading order.
Awesomeness! I started with the Bronze Age Omnibus (which was mostly very, very good). Then I of course had to read Alan Moore's run again, because of the Absolute Editions (and your video's!). I'm now on #81 and have both the Nancy Collins & New 52 Omnibus waiting to be read on my shelf. It's all really good stuff, but I've been sidetracked by 'Invasion' because #81 is a tie-in! Another cool video, thanks!

Sadly I think they will use the Absolute files for the Omnibus when that comes out. Which means new colors.

Character has Absolutes, Deluxe editions, a new monthly, variety of TPBs, movies, a TV show...hardly underappreciated.

DC’s lack of uniformity with collected editions, is killing me. That company is a disaster.
As usual, DC makes weird design choices with the New 52 thing on the spine. It's not even surprising anymore

Batman was in the Alan Moore Swamp thing run and he played a HUGE role in one of the stories toward the end of that run, and Swamp Thing also appeared in Batman 522 from the 90s, so having Superman in a Swamp Thing comic really isn't that shocking.

So I’m about to commit sacrilege. I really hate this art. I’m about 10 issues in, and while it’s beautiful and vibrant, it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to tell if a page is a one page or two page spread. Most of the pages run over each other and have matching transition colors and panels that would make you think it’s a full page spread but it isn’t. So it’s really unnatural to read because I’m constantly spending too much time figuring out the panel reading order.

Alan moores swamp thing is overrated. This new 52 run is god tier.
Awesomeness! I started with the Bronze Age Omnibus (which was mostly very, very good). Then I of course had to read Alan Moore's run again, because of the Absolute Editions (and your video's!). I'm now on #81 and have both the Nancy Collins & New 52 Omnibus waiting to be read on my shelf. It's all really good stuff, but I've been sidetracked by 'Invasion' because #81 is a tie-in! Another cool video, thanks!
