In actuality, Driveclub is still the hands down, best-looking racing game made to date. Nothing beats it in the visuals department. There are games that hit 120 FPS and look worse, and there are games that render at 8K and also look worse. The fact is, in all situations, Driveclub holds on to a realistic visual design that holds up 9 years after it launched. That is incredible. The real question is... why don't more racing games look at least this good? GT7 comes close, and GT7's car models are hands down better than Driveclub's, but Driveclub still has some pluses even with respect to this. For example, dashboards light up properly, showing in real time which driving assists are being used as they would in real life. When you lose traction, you have the little triangle light pop up with the car swerving inside it. That's shown in Driveclub, but not in any other racing game. Little things like that Driveclub has over GT7, but the overall quality of car models still goes to GT7. Overall visuals - how the entire image tends toward visual realism - that award still goes to Driveclub. FM23 doesn't even hold a candle to Driveclub in most of these situations. There is one nice thing about FM23, though. I'd say FM23's Tire smoke effects on tarmac look better and linger longer than they do in Driveclub... and that's about the only positive thing I can say about FM23's visual make-up when compared against Driveclub's. That isn't so good when we're talking about a game that came out 9 years later on HW from around 2 to around 50 times more powerful than a base model PS4.

The fact that new hardware from all systems are being compared to a fucking base model ps4 game speaks volumes for what Evolution studio brought us all those years ago. Just imagine this game running with a simple PS5 update lol
Drive Club was surely way ahead of it's time in terms of graphics and details during rainy weather conditions, but in my opinion, FM8 feels way much smoother if we talk about the frame rate and the gameplay. Turn 10 Studios made some major improvements between FM7 and FM8, in order to give the player a realistic feeling of the weight of the car and the adherence of the tire on the roads. But nonetheless, Drive Club will remain an incredible racing game, considering the time it came out. Shout out to the developers, whose achieved that level of graphics on a freaking console.
