    Remember if you shoot off of the shelf, use feather fletching. Vanes will jump off of the shelf. I think it's important to tell newer archers.

    • @Povsalex

      I ... Did not know that(im new). Ive not noticed the arrows jumping though. They still fly straight

    • @punjasandtyger4090
      @punjasandtyger4090 6 лет назад +15

      Plastic Vanes tend to not flex or smoosh down like feathers do. If you shoot off of a raised rest, your vanes should bypass the shelf of the bow, but if you just place your arrows on the shelf itself, the two vanes facing your bow tend to make the arrow slightly skip off of the riser.
      Your arrow will naturally straighten out on flight because of your vanes, but it becomes difficult to shoot consistently because of the added variable.

    • @mortenjacobsen5673
      @mortenjacobsen5673 6 лет назад +11

      I hardly notice any difference worth mentioning from vane to feathers , its more about the nock point and spine

      Morten Jacobsen, the beauty of archery is, like a golf swing or batting/pitching in baseball, there is a standard rule to form, but in the end, and long as your form is consistent, do what works for you.

    Have a lot of bows myself and finally ordered one of these Black Hunters to see how it will feel shooting it... matches one of my rifles as well so figured it will look good on display as well as shooting. Thank you for the video... ordered the same draw weight as you and seeing how you shoot it makes me more comfortable with the purchase... just now bought it... always worth checking out... for the price.

      I've got some questions to that bow because i also am seeking for a good beginner bow to start archery with:
      -Does it rather feel cheap or like good
      quality and confident?
      -Do you think you can shoot on trees
      etc with that?
      -and how do you get along with that bow? Is it good for beginners?Do you have a rather fast or slow learning progress

    • @jimmytechnologies
      @jimmytechnologies 6 лет назад +1

      Its a good quality bow for barebow shooting. Feels solid enough. Probably better off getting the lower draw weight for a beginner. Use feather fletchings if you are shooting off the shelf.

    Hi NUSensei, I've been loving your videos mate. And have seen your reviews of Mandarin Duck Phantom, Black Hunter and Strider ILF. I'm a beginner, pretty strong male. Might like the idea of a sight installed for accuracy but could turn a blind eye to one if not really needed. I was aiming for 35 pound draw weight and just using the one set up forever. Might you have a preference of those three bows or any other options you might recommend? I want to shoot target practice at a field or in semi-rural property, but would also like to be able to take it out in the field if ever needed (kind of hunting survival). Thanks for any thoughts you may be able to provide!

  • @McJaews

    It looks so compact with that short riser. I like the dark look of it, and the fact that it has those pins on it to keep the limbs from going on an angle. For $100 that's solid value.

    Hey NUSensei thank you for the video!.. I’m new to archery so I thought this would be a good bow to start with... I recently purchased the black hunter and am waiting for it to arrive, but it was only after I purchased it that I realized I ordered the 60” “longbow” version instead of the 58” “recurve” version because in the description the seller called it a “60 inch Recurve American Longbow” and I only now realized what some of the differences between the two are..... Would you be able to tell me what I can expect from the differences between the two as I originally meant to buy the recurve?? And whether or not i should cancel or keep the longbow and go with the recurve?? Target archery and eventual hunting is what I plan to focus on if that makes it easier to answer. Much Thanks in advance!!!

    From my understanding they have made an upgrade to the design. It looks like Armin received a new model riser (5/16 limb bolts) with old model limbs (1/4" holes). Apparently new model replacement or upgrade limbs (large hole) can be used on old model risers provided you sleeve the bolt hole with 5/16 OD nylon tube cut to length and bored out to 1/4" with a drill bit

    Got my Black Hunter off Amazon, love it as my first bow! Wanted to address the limb screw issue you touched on, as my upper limb screw wouldn't screw in smoothly, and I thought I would strip the threads if I tried any harder. I found that by re-adjusting the angle the screw went in by just a fraction, it finally found the threads and went in smoothly. If it's not fitting in at first, don't torque it down as again, you might strip your threads.

    • @DrSpas
      @DrSpas 2 месяца назад

      With machine type threaded crews I always turn backwards 1 turn until I feel the thread catch, then softly hand screw until hand tight, then tool to desired torque
      Good job using a little finesse there and not destroying the threads

I have this bow in 30 lbs, and shooting 18 yards, I have to aim low, such that the intended target is above the top of the sight window. I just wonder what strength to choose. My Samick was at first 36 pounds and I got 42 pounds limbs after a while when I got more trained. Maybe I start with 30 pounds. This bow is so cheap anyway, so I can buy another stronger after a while.

      Remember that the charts refer to optimal bow lengths for stability. You can use a shorter hunting-style bow, but it will stack more and feel less stable.

    Okay I need your help. Samick Sage or Mandarin Duck? I have some experience with shooting other bows, but this will be my first bow that I own. I’m just looking for something I can hit targets with it the backyard and on camping trips. I’m a 13 year old boy and want to buy a 30 pound bow, that will still deliver a powerful satisfying shot.
    Thanks.

    Is there a "is it still good" video for this bow?
    Or more direclty, I like the look and shape of the grip/ riser on this one, the mk2 has the arrow rest. The question being: the black hunter or sage to start?

    To those who is interesting in buying one.
    This prob be the best option if ur looking for a tradition take down with wood grip for beginner , not saying it is the best bow , but the tolerance it got is pretty friendly for one just get into archery , means even beginner can perform well with it , and the stacking is at a acceptable degree.
    It cost around 100~150 on amzon , but even cheaper if u can do a online purchase from China , it's like around 60~80 only.
    At the cost sooooo low and a decent performance (compare to others at the price around 300~500) , there's no doubt that this is the best option for rookie.

    I am tempted to purchase one. I own a compound bow. Although I have my hunting compound at the full 70 lbs it has 80% letoff. My draw lenght is 29.5". I am thinking of buying the 40 lb bow or even 35 lb version. I am not sure since i am a newbie.

    Curious, what spine arrows were you flinging? I have been shooting 500 off mine @ 50# and for the most part they are accurate. It’s been fairly hard for me to tell when it’s just form error when the shoot off center or if my shafts are too lightly spined

  • @GsyMoo

    I have one the same and absolutely love it.
    It's not my first bow otherwise I think it would have been impossible for me to draw fully.
    I'm quite a big guy so pull 31 inch. For me this bow in 50lb pulls 62lb.
    If you're thinking of getting 1, I'm a big guy, 6'3" 18st+, spent a lot of years in the gmn to get my weight up, but still my first bow was a 30lb (me pulling about 36lb) which seemed really heavy at first.
    In the gym your regular lifts and exercises are in the wrong direction for archery so start light and give your ligaments a chance and start light. You sing learn to cycle in top gear!
    Now I can go out and shoot until it gets dark and really enjoy this bow.
    I use vanes instead of feathers and shoot off the shelf with seal skin on shelf and plate and the cock feather to top which seems to work pretty well. I might convert to feather at some stage after seeing this though 👍

      How's the black hunter holding up? I've held off due to the multiple reviews of the bow splitting and the string breaking. It's such a good looking bow with seemingly a lot of potential, but I'm not interested in throwing away my money or smacking myself in the face on the draw...

    I've been looking at this bow quite a bit. However according to my measurements, I'm 6'1 tall with 71" arm span, putting me at draw length of 28.4 inch. Am I going to run into stacking problems?

    • @Balttizar
      @Balttizar 4 года назад

      I pull right at 28 and no stacking. I have 35# recurve and 40# longbow limbs. I like the longbow limbs better, but no stacking.

    • @Fe7Ace
      @Fe7Ace 4 года назад

      I did draw this bow to about 30", since I prefer an anchor behind my jaw bone, and didn't notice any stacking problems (on 50# limbs so I'd probably notice). The tip of one of my limbs snapped off though. I'm going to go for a different bow than this one because I'm concerned about the durability of this model now, and don't want to spend a bunch more on something that failed me (after only about 5 months). A few inches overdraw shouldn't mean snapping limbs, the little polymer(?) piece that's laminated on the end cracked where the string lays on it, where it is thinnest, just wasn't up to the job.

    • @NUSensei
      @NUSensei  6 лет назад

      I'm not using khatra - what you see is the result of back tension and expansion. It would make no sense to use khatra in this shooting style.

      @davidschwartz2398 6 лет назад

      Thanks for your reply. I asked because your bow arm consistently moved towards your left with the bow angled slightly away from you after each shot. Kathra with Turkish style bows, yes, but recurve bows I agree doesn't make sense.

    • @mortenjacobsen5673
      @mortenjacobsen5673 6 лет назад

      when you pull with the trapezius your elbow drops down and hand goes up into the glasses , not enough rotation around to the back with rhomboid contraction and or elbow behind the arrow .or maybe your entorhinal cortex need a connection to the smaller brain to create some decent motor skill and pathways. I assume you use muscles to shoot and not instinct

      @Brett Miller thanks, I tried shooting plastic fletching off the shelf on my $30 Poe Lang recurve from ebay.....yup I had some ugly groups until I put an arrow rest on the bow. Then the groups were just kind of ugly, like normal.

      AAE Trad vanes are designed to be shot off the shelf when shooting in wet weather. I haven’t tried them but they are supposedly much softer than normal plastic canes so fold like a feather. Unless you need them specifically, just use feather fletching.

    What did you think of the long bow limbs vs the recurve limbs ??

    • @tjj4lab
      @tjj4lab 5 лет назад +1

      I actually have this bow with both the longbow and recurve limbs. First off I have to say there isn’t a great deal of difference between them, I personally think the recurve limbs are better performance wise, but the longbow limbs are quieter.
      The longbow limbs also don’t feel much like traditional longbows I’ve shot before, I have a 68” longbow in 40lbs and when I shoot that I know I’ve shot a longbow, I get the longbow thud in the hand, while my Black Hunter 60” 40lb bow gives no such feeling when shooting, there isn’t any appreciable thud to the hand.
      I’m happy with both, but I have to say when I’m going for very accurate target shooting and I care about my score, I choose the recurve version, for me I just feel more confident and accurate with it for some reason. Same arrows, same poundage, same distance but I always get tighter groupings with the recurve model.
