Here's what I've learned in recent years: When Nintendo is involved, anything is possible. If Minecraft, Zelda and Sora can be in the same game, then Nintendo can make an Avengers-level film franchise. If a live-action Pokemon movie can earn $400+ at the box office, then more Nintendo films can work too. If they can sell literal cardboard cutouts for $80, then they can invent the perfect model for a CYOA movie.

Just a quick correction: the Witcher show is actually not following the video games but is actually using the books as source material. So it's not really a TV adaptation of a video game but more of a TV adaption of a book series.
And correction #2: The Witcher show is... Entertaining and all, but it's a loose follow at best. It changes TONS of things from the source material, and most of these changes are for the worse.

One thing that should be point out with Dynamo Pictures is that they were originally founded by Nintendo and some other Studios for the purpose of making the CGI stuff for games (notably Metroid: Other M), so this might as well just be an easy purchase to have a studio that makes CGI Cutscenes and Trailers for their future games (since a lot of times, they have to outsource that right now).
The purchase agreement did say to purchase 100% of outstanding shares, meaning Nintendo already has a stake in the company. It was already partly owned by them. the other companies were willing to relinquesh their shares for whatever reason and Nintendo acquired it excepting Treasury Shares basically Nintendo owns it outright. Yeah they'll do the movies but more likely to also do all the CGI works, motion capture works and anything else needed.

I got chills reading this and imagining the song in my head. I want this so badly now. Legend of Zelda is the lteral perfect IP for movies or TV shows
Honestly, if Nintendo would ever go through with a Zelda movie or TV show they should adapt the original Zelda game on the NES. It would be the perfect way to introduce new non-videogame audiences to the world of Hyrule and its lore. Oh and it NEEDS to be animated, no live action.
I think the biggest thing you didn't mention is that Nintendo has already worked with Dynamo pictures alot.they actually make nearly all of the super smash bros trailers.

I think the more likely explanation is that Nintendo bought a production company primarily for animated or interactive theme park attractions, since the Nintendo stuff in Universal Studios etc is really picking up
That and it allows them to branch out into other things. The studio they bought did make a gorgeous final fantasy movie. It looked like a video game cutscene but more quality like a movie. I'd say Nintendo would head this way while giving them a chance with true VR. Motion controls, a portable console, and now a company that specializes in interactive 3D programing. The pieces are all fitting in. Not to mention what they would do with their dabble in AR.

Even so, what's stopping them from also entering the film industry? Matt isn't exactly wrong because while your suggestion is valid so is his, the Mario movie is alr evidence that they do want to somewhat enter this market.
I'm interested in what this means for cutscenes for some games. I could see a future Zelda title opening with a much more complicated, intricately animated sequence.

Reviewing the data ... I don't think this means they're making a movie studio.

I was surprised how you just realized that since we all knew it would happen ever since the first Super Smash Bros. game came out and Subspace Embassy was released as part of Story Mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. To make a long story short, not only did I watch the Super Mario Bros. movie I love it so much that I want to watch it repeatedly just because of how much I enjoyed it. Now I just have to wait for the new Donkey Kong movie to come out and I would be super happy if they're going to make a Kirby movie. That being said, pretty sure Game Freak already made all the Pokemon movies to begin with. So maybe the next one after the new Donkey Kong movie, there would be a Kirby movie or better yet a Splatoon movie based off of the Splatoon comics.
Imagine a Mother Movie. That would blow my mind. I'd probably want to see Mother 1 if they did make a movie

It's themes are wildly different to most Nintendo IPs and it could really cement itself as Nintendos "More Serious Storytelling" genre in their whole Movie biz. Theory idea:
In terraria, a new liquid got added, which has properties that let you phase through blocks, deconstruct items, etc. would this have any weird reactions if we applied real world physics to it?
I would love a long form Metroid series, really expand that world. And get a chance to see all the little tricks and things from the games used in neat ways to tell a story.

They could also use this studio as a support team for their more animation heavy projects. Best example being the smash trailers that use either 2d or 3d animation for their reveal or xenoblade-ish projects. Either that or some animations for mobile games cuz those are big af here in japan, theres a reason things like uma musume, bang dream and twisted wonderland are popular.

Maybe they could finally explain the random appearances of the final bosses of the Smash Bros games. They always were just kinda... there for me. Tabuu _literally_ shows up out of nowhere, and Galeem/Darkhon starts off the antagonist like its Golbez from FF4, only to have Darkhon show up later and it becomes a Tug-of-War, with VERY VERY little explained at all as to the why.

For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted a Star Fox, Metroid and Legend of Zelda film, so this news of what Nintendo has done is possibly the most hyped I’ve been since I saw the trailer for Smash Ultimate “everyone is here”
a Metroid movie would be amazing, especially because its consistently darker and more mature than most other Nintendo titles. i personally think some combination of the Prime games would be the coolest to see on the big screen, those games naturally have an incredible atmosphere

I went to the Super Nintendo World in USJ but it was really really fun. Like it was a fun interaction movie. I totally can feel like being in the Mario World then. So I think they also learned something from the Universal Studios too and gotten more comfortable making something related to movies.

Nintendo might not know how to make movies, but they definitely know how to make great stories. Stuff like Splatoon, Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Nintendo has some of the best video game stories ever

Honestly, I just want that Nintendo land they keep talking about to have some kind of 3rd party plaza. I want to walk through the wastelands of Fallout, hide in fear from splicers in Bioshock, and maybe (just maybe) an immersive Animus Assassins Creed VR experience.

Before even finishing the video I have to say that I'm glad that you didn't put Arcane on the List of bad adaptations. I'm not a big fan of LoL, but I think Arcane is a great series ("so far", because I'm only at episode 7) :D.
I really hope that game-to-screen-adaptations (Tell me if you know a better word to combine movies and tv series!) stay on Arcanes level, especially when they start to make something that's based on Zelda or Kingdom Hearts!
I’ve been expecting this to come ever since Sora joined the Smash Ultimate roster. At that point Nintendo and the MCU became distant relatives through a blissful union.

I think I get where he's coming from. The power boots, to make Mario "JUMP" like in the game. The bombomb, a lot of little odd bits and pieces that, while amusing, might have gotten in the way of the story, to try to make it more like the game.
The bits that still make me smile the most, are some of the bits furthest from the game mechanics... goombahs in the elevator anybody?
