My dad bought one just like this new off the showroom floor. 383, Carter Four barrel, hipo exhaust manifolds factory dual exhaust......for a station wagon it hauled ass !!
These Classic Wagons are getting popular again because more and more people are driving for vacations again. I live in the Southwest Triangle (Northwest Arizona/Southern Nevada/Southeast California and I've seen ALOT more Classic wagons with Mom, Dad, and kids than I have in the 8 years I've lived here during the summer/ school breaks ever.
It's great to see you making progress on this car. And, I have to say, this must be one of the most highly optioned '68 Town and Country wagons I've ever seen.
I had a `68 wagon and the exhaust shop bent the tailpipe over the axle too short so the pipe was too close to the floor. Went for an extended drive to find the horsehair? padding under the carpet on fire behind the passenger seat.
That red idiot light on the dash is an oil pressure indicator.. not an oil level indicator. Make sure you've got oil pressure otherwise new oil pump and priming time which is actually not a big job on a Chrysler big block.. it's accessible and externally mounted on the bottom drivers side of the engine
Thats a very loaded wagon! power seat, windows and even wing/vent windows. Not sure if you know this but your car also has telescopic steering column! If you turn that ribbed looking chrome ring counter clockwise it will unlock the telescopic part and you can push the steering wheel toward or away from you until you get a desired position. Then rotate the ring clockwise firmly to lock it, My 66 Toronado has a similar set up and I once didnt lock it enough and the steering wheel sprung towards me when I floored it! Scared the crap out of me. LOLOLOL
What a beauty! Parents of a friend had one. I got to drive it once. Love Chrysler wagons!

Never seen one with power vent window option

Ok thanks
I remember my aunt had a ford station wagon in the early 70s and all the kids would pile in the back.

After adjusting the idle and mending the inoperative reversing lights, I'd want to road trip this wagon. Hope you enjoy it.
That would be cool!
Actually, you SHOULD check the oil level when it is warm and not after it has all drained out of the engine and into the pan.
Thanks i'll give it a try
Are you in the rust belt? I'm surprised its lasted this long
