It’s like people think that voice actors have to be super serious and sound their best ALL THE TIME. It’s clear that these three, especially Mr. Smith and Thorton are simply having fun with this, and aren’t taking any of it seriously. This isn’t the same as them doing work for a video game, and Shadow sounds A LOT better in Forces. It’s all about the right direction, and these guys were literally just having some laid back fun here. Give them a break. Plus, it’s clear that Thortorn is hamming it up for maximum, edgelord meme effect.

Disagree with a lot of comments here, I think Kirk has really improved as Shadow. Compared to his lines in Generations, I think he's gotten much better. Hasn't really been in too many games to find his feet with the character either so I'm quite impressed. I like Roger's Sonic, and I think everyone unanimously loves Mike's Eggman.
I agree with you. Yes while I still need to get used kirks delivery of Shadow. Watching these a couple of times made me really notice that the direction they've taken Shadows writing is off. I mean in like the actual lines they give to Kirk. It's something about it, it's not what it used to be. The Shadow before just wouldn't care about anything he wouldn't go on a tangent about darkness and using words like "purpose". It's just a very different take on Shadow. But I mean we've heard so little of the current voice cast aside from main characters in Sonic Boom. That's why Forces is gonna to matter a lot in what people think about this current cast. One more thing on Shadow is in Episode Shadow I think we will be able to hear kirks vocal range with him because I'm sure he will be fighting and stuff. I've also seen some people complaining about Rodger as Sonic but honestly I don't see why. Sure it was a little iffy in colors and generations but he's definitely picked it up recently and has actually become one of my favorite sonic voices. But I can see where everyone's coming from with what they are saying I'm just putting in my 2 cents.
He probably needed time to improve in the role. Generations was the only time Shadow had appeared for a while, so I guess he honed the voice doing Sonic Boom or something.
Richard Ford Kirk thorton is garbage as shadow, I think he has some good lines in Forces but in this video he doesn't have a voice director so hes awful. He makes shadow way too raspy, shadow isn't supposed to sound raspy unless he's yelling, he never has been raspy, until he screams.

It’s like people think that voice actors have to be super serious and sound their best ALL THE TIME. It’s clear that these three, especially Mr. Smith and Thorton are simply having fun with this, and aren’t taking any of it seriously. The inspiration for both is literally just the fact that they have similar color schemes and are edgy
Especially because their backstory is quite similar since ryuko wanted revenge for her father's murder and shadow wanted revenge for maria's murder

Disagree with a lot of comments here, I think Kirk has really improved as Shadow. Compared to his lines in Generations, I think he's gotten much better. Hasn't really been in too many games to find his feet with the character either so I'm quite impressed. I like Roger's Sonic, and I think everyone unanimously loves Mike's Eggman.
I agree with you. Yes while I still need to get used kirks delivery of Shadow. Watching these a couple of times made me really notice that the direction they've taken Shadows writing is off. I mean in like the actual lines they give to Kirk. It's something about it, it's not what it used to be. The Shadow before just wouldn't care about anything he wouldn't go on a tangent about darkness and using words like "purpose". It's just a very different take on Shadow. But I mean we've heard so little of the current voice cast aside from main characters in Sonic Boom. That's why Forces is gonna to matter a lot in what people think about this current cast. One more thing on Shadow is in Episode Shadow I think we will be able to hear kirks vocal range with him because I'm sure he will be fighting and stuff. I've also seen some people complaining about Rodger as Sonic but honestly I don't see why. Sure it was a little iffy in colors and generations but he's definitely picked it up recently and has actually become one of my favorite sonic voices. But I can see where everyone's coming from with what they are saying I'm just putting in my 2 cents.

He probably needed time to improve in the role. Generations was the only time Shadow had appeared for a while, so I guess he honed the voice doing Sonic Boom or something.
Richard Ford Kirk thorton is garbage as shadow, I think he has some good lines in Forces but in this video he doesn't have a voice director so hes awful. He makes shadow way too raspy, shadow isn't supposed to sound raspy unless he's yelling, he never has been raspy, until he screams.
