this is such an awesome idea, and it's a ton of chaotic fun online!! Personally I think this is a great way to sorta "feel" the interest in F-Zero out a bit, and honestly positioning it as a more aggressive, battle-royal alternative to say something like Mario Kart might just give it that edge to cater to a larger audience!!
Why did people have any expectations for this to begin with? The leaks? Feels like complaining for the sake of complaining, not that Nintendo isn't deserving of it, I just can't wrap my head around where people are coming from.
If we had two F-Zero games revealed today, one traditional, the true sequel to F-Zero GX, and this too, we would be praising this. But after 19 years, this is what F-Zero fans get? Fans will get pissed and they are right to complain.
There's nothing wrong with complaining about there not being a true sequel to GX, but I feel like if you're going to direct that at _this game specifically_ then that's basically the equivalent of demanding that other people get paid less as opposed to demanding that you get paid more
Going back to this game to get the anniversary rewards, man, this game is so much fun, people definitely jumped the gun hating on it! This game is great!
I initially started playing this as a side game when i just wanted to play something for a short time but it's addictive and now find myself putting aside more time for a proper session. It's not mentioned in the trailer but there are also Mini Prix and Grand Prix where a number of cars get eliminated in each race with only 20 left in the final race. Plus you can practice the courses against ghost cars of each of the four cars.
I genuinely teared up when I saw this. Even to this day I still play F-Zero and even if it's not a sequal, something as chaotic as this is definitely going to be fun for me. I'm so happy they're doing this and I still cling onto the hope that they make a full on new F-Zero game someday.
I guess it's nice Nintendo at least acknowledged F-Zero exists though. If I was being optimistic I'd say it might even be that F-Zero 99 exists to gauge how much interest there is in the franchise for a potential future title. So, i guess i have to play this game now to support that idea...
Wow, F-Zero actually got something. Could this be a test a run for a future F-Zero game? Before the N64 released, I remember my little self loving the designs and music of F-Zero. Update: I just played F-Zero 99 for over eight hours today and this has to be one of the best things Nintendo has done for a while. It's complete chaos on those tracks!
Isn’t that kind of a loaded question though? “Oh, you enjoyed F-Zero GX and you want another game with that style of gameplay? Well, here’s a game from that franchise that only has some of that gameplay and it can only be played online, and if you don’t like it, then you will never get what you actually want.”
@@user-wb8iu1hl6i I’m not saying it was, but even a re-release of GX with online multiplayer would have been so much more well-received than what we got. I will do my duty as an F-Zero fan and play the heck out of this, but F-Zero deserves far more than this after all this time.
Not exactly what i was anticipating out of a new F-Zero game but I'll take this W anyways, it's like the Death Race in X but with SNES graphics and online with 99 people! Hopefully we can get a true sequel in the future if this does well
That's backwards. The audience who wants a new title isn't the same audience as the one who plays this. What makes more sense is that Nintendo uses this game as a marketing campaign and build some name recognition for when they release the next game, which is either a GX port or a brand new title.

@@Ray_2112 I guess the programmers loved that scene in the movie so much they brought It into F-zero. However, hopefully one day, we have an official racing game based on the tracks and characters of "Ready Player One", but with copyrights "BS" on the way it seems unlikely.
Metroid Prime Federation Force tier announcement.
I'm happy to see anything F-Zero, but man, this was a stab in the heart.
I can only hope this means a proper sequel in the future.
@@Adam-M-probably not, doesn't sound like a good business
I've never played an F Zero game in my life and even I felt that way.
@@magic2546It is well worth checking out. Especially if you can find a copy of F-Zero GX for the GameCube. The series is known for extremely fast racing and great music.
@@illfordF-Zero GX sold over one million copies. I think a remaster of that game would be the best option to release something refined without spending too much on development. Minimize that risk, and let the fans show their passion.
This is our chance to demostrate Nintendo that we are ready for future F-zero Games.
literally our only chance basically. the game's super fun, so i can see a lot of people who gave this a try coming back to this, especially when more stuff gets added into the game
might kms if Nintendo uses the dislikes on this video as an excuse to say "welp looks like people don't like this, guess we won't make a new f-zero"
I'm a fair F-Zero fan I'd say, but hopefully this game won't get shut down in 2025 cause it looks kinda fun
It won’t
Mario 35 moment
@@madnessarcade7447yeah it'll get shut down in 2024
The only 99 games to shut down were Mario 35, which was mentioned before it even came out that it would only be up for a limited time, and Pac-Man 99, which is owned by Bandai-Namco and thus subject to their decisions. Neither are an indicator that Nintendo likes to kill these games off. Tetris 99, the other one, not only is still up but recently got a Fire Emblem Engage theme update not too long ago, so its clear they plan to keep it going as long as possible.
Tetris 99 survived, so this should too.
Back to waiting for a *new* F-Zero.
Played this the first night it was out and had a blast! I love that the graphical aesthetic is still the same as the original game, just in higher res and widescreen
Played it for a few hours today and I'm hooked. The first F-Zero is one of my favorite games ever and I really like this battle royale spin on it.
It’s not what we wanted from F-Zero but it’s a start I truly believe F-Zero will return someday
Bruh, F-Zero X literally had a mode like this called Death Race mode.
That day is today, this game rules.
@@InFiNiTeO7 Your point?
I love F Zero 99. Im about 15 races in and I’m living this. The best 99 so far. I would love to see an F Zero X 99 or a new F Zero game. Super fun so far!!!
this is such an awesome idea, and it's a ton of chaotic fun online!! Personally I think this is a great way to sorta "feel" the interest in F-Zero out a bit, and honestly positioning it as a more aggressive, battle-royal alternative to say something like Mario Kart might just give it that edge to cater to a larger audience!!
I also played this game when I had free trial for the Nintendo Switch Online
This game is frickin dope AF
At least Nintendo remembered that F-Zero exists
For those judging the book by its cover, this game is addictingly fun. Try it.
This is the first F-Zero in decades!
In my day, it was called DEATH RACE lol
Either way, it’s great to see Nintendo acknowledging F-Zero exists
The most fun i ever had in a nintendo game in like a decade
I like to think that guy who bought his way into a Nintendo shareholders meeting to ask about F-Zero was, in part, responsible for this
Im genuinely excited for this! Hopefully this also shows that Fzero is a franchise worth making new games for :)
20 years of waiting for...this? Really Nintendo?
Why did people have any expectations for this to begin with? The leaks?
Feels like complaining for the sake of complaining, not that Nintendo isn't deserving of it, I just can't wrap my head around where people are coming from.
If we had two F-Zero games revealed today, one traditional, the true sequel to F-Zero GX, and this too, we would be praising this.
But after 19 years, this is what F-Zero fans get? Fans will get pissed and they are right to complain.
exactly
There's nothing wrong with complaining about there not being a true sequel to GX, but I feel like if you're going to direct that at _this game specifically_ then that's basically the equivalent of demanding that other people get paid less as opposed to demanding that you get paid more
Nintendo…this is not what I meant when I said I wanted a new fzero game…
Well Take what u can get
Deal with it
@@zaperator4449no

Going back to this game to get the anniversary rewards, man, this game is so much fun, people definitely jumped the gun hating on it! This game is great!
Feels like we F-Zero Fans getting a Half a slice of garlic bread, but without butter or garlic
My God, I wish they'd make a new F-Zero
They just did
It will sell so bad. The demand isn’t there for these niche games. Just a very vocal minority
@@prosoccer728yah sadly
@@madnessarcade7447He mean a REAL new F-Zero game, not some lazy remix of the first title made back in 1990.
@@prosoccer728if that was the case, you wouldn't have some mf paying millions in stock to ask nintendo about the state of f zero
I wrote so many letters to Nintendo as a kid asking for a proper F-Zero sequel. It’s about time.
I hope to see Mute city 4, big blue 2, sand storm all those from F-zero 2, and metal fort and forest
"I wish we had more F-Zero after 20 years of silence..."
**the monkey's paw curls a finger**
I initially started playing this as a side game when i just wanted to play something for a short time but it's addictive and now find myself putting aside more time for a proper session. It's not mentioned in the trailer but there are also Mini Prix and Grand Prix where a number of cars get eliminated in each race with only 20 left in the final race. Plus you can practice the courses against ghost cars of each of the four cars.
Never Played F-Zero Before but this is very fun
Glad that F-Zero’s getting some love now.
We need:
Legend of Zelda 99
Ninja Gaiden 99
Mega Man 99
River City Ransom 99
Double Dragon 99
DKC 99
Those are all terrible ideas
not work compared to Fzero 99 who is a REAL BATTLE ROYAL IN SAME TIME!
I genuinely teared up when I saw this. Even to this day I still play F-Zero and even if it's not a sequal, something as chaotic as this is definitely going to be fun for me. I'm so happy they're doing this and I still cling onto the hope that they make a full on new F-Zero game someday.
I was actually mad.
@ZertMcGert I'm a lil mad, but it's still fun and amazing. This could pave the way to more games in the future.
"This game will be available until March 31st, 2024."
This new trailer looks dope, cant wait to see release in 1990
Federation force moment
I’m mad at myself for not hearing about this till today, December 16.
Better late than never!
Game is tight with a large playerbase
I guess it's nice Nintendo at least acknowledged F-Zero exists though. If I was being optimistic I'd say it might even be that F-Zero 99 exists to gauge how much interest there is in the franchise for a potential future title.
So, i guess i have to play this game now to support that idea...
It's the most chaotic racing game on the Switch. And I love it.
This game is hella fun
Wow, F-Zero actually got something. Could this be a test a run for a future F-Zero game? Before the N64 released, I remember my little self loving the designs and music of F-Zero.
Update: I just played F-Zero 99 for over eight hours today and this has to be one of the best things Nintendo has done for a while. It's complete chaos on those tracks!
@frost8077 I'm going to tell you that this game existed in Japan for their SNES in the 90s and there's videos of it you can watch.
F-Zero finally gets its Metroid Prime Federation Force moment!! 😅
Honestly, I'm perfectly fine with Limbo Franchises going in this 99 approach, there's still a chance for me as a massive Star Fox fan!
Just tried this out and its super cool and fits with the theme of F-Zero as well. Awesome surprise!
@@astr0sauce I didn't watch the direct, so it caught me off guard when I opened the news feed and saw this. I hope people give it a chance!
Even if you don’t like it, you need to download and play this if you want a real new F-Zero game. This is how they gauge interest
@@MWilmottIt sucks, but thats how it is. It's not like the original F-Zero was a bad game either
In comparison to the 3d games? Or even the later GBA ones? yea, it kind of is. @@user-wb8iu1hl6i
@@user-wb8iu1hl6i I’m not saying it was, but even a re-release of GX with online multiplayer would have been so much more well-received than what we got. I will do my duty as an F-Zero fan and play the heck out of this, but F-Zero deserves far more than this after all this time.
I don´t play online so no, I´m not downloading it.
Not exactly what i was anticipating out of a new F-Zero game but I'll take this W anyways, it's like the Death Race in X but with SNES graphics and online with 99 people! Hopefully we can get a true sequel in the future if this does well
I hope we get GX with online play one day
Never played an F-ZERO game, but man this is so addictive and so much fun. I need to check out the other games in the franchise.

WOW F-ZERO, YESS!!! But honestly, i hope they do a squel for the Switch...
I thought it was a new F-Zero but when I saw the tons of vehicles I just laughed so much, It looks Chaotic Evil but in a funny way
They’re definitely testing the waters with this game. Hope it does well so we finally get a new full fledged F-Zero title
That's backwards. The audience who wants a new title isn't the same audience as the one who plays this. What makes more sense is that Nintendo uses this game as a marketing campaign and build some name recognition for when they release the next game, which is either a GX port or a brand new title.
@@Trazynn why would they begin work on the next game before seeing if there’s a demand for it? The F-Zero series was put on hiatus due to low sales and perceived lack of demand. This game is definitely to see if there’s an audience for the franchise to justify a new title
I wanna play the new F-Zero. I won't play this crap. Emotional blackmail isn't cool, Nintendo.
