The fact that Link's Awakening DX, both Oracle games, AND Minish Cap are coming makes me so happy. I was worried it would never happen.
Now they just need to add Four Swords Anniversary Edition from DSiWare and we’re made in the shade. And sure, why not, the Freshly Picked Tingle and Ripened Tingle games too!
I recently bought them on the Wii U and 3DS as a safe guard. I feel dumb about it now but I guess you can't blame me for being paranoid.

Nintendo takes their sweet time with making older games available on new platforms but they DO eventually do so. Unlike others, they take pride in their history and know these old games still hold up.

Good to see Golden Sun getting recognised by Nintendo and will be playable in the future on the switch.

I really want more of the younger generation to experience the absolute masterpieces that are Golden Sun and Golden Sun The Lost Age.

This is why I like Nintendo adding old systems to their online service. I have no interest in subbing myself but I like that it will get young people to try out old games that I played as a kid.

I'm honestly glad that you're doing this, I think it's an important part of your history and shouldn't be left in the past to die. Short, simple and sweet, that's what games used to be and they have an audience. Bring back Pokemon and offer online trading/battles, I think you'll blow the roof off of this project.

The moment Minish Cap showed and the live chat was flooded by appreciation for the game made me realize I could die in peace. The game truly deserves all the love and I can't wait to play it forever again. This was one of the ultimate best directs, Nintendo💖

Sucks that you have to have the expansion pack to play gba games and it's weird not seeing a mainline pokemon game on there (unless Nintendo plans on talking about them in the pokemon presents later this month). Other than that, it's great these games are finally coming to switch online and I wonder if GameCube is next for September's direct

Considering they brought older titles to the 3ds and now there is official gba emulation, I think there is a solid chance they can discuss it on Pokémon day. We’ll see though

I'm 43 and I've been gaming since my toddler years on my late father's Atari 2600... and never looked back. The first game I beat was a Game Boy game (Super Mario Land). My heart will always be with the NES, Game Boy and SNES.
This was the highlight of the Direct for me. As soon as this was available I played Super Mario Land 2, Kirby's Dream Land and Gargoyle's Quest (truly a hidden gem is Gargoyle's Quest). What a trip back through time. I have 2 words for Nintendo: THANK YOU!!!
I love that they're bringing back Zelda: Link's Awakening as one of the first games, despite the remake also being on the console

I remember buying a GBC as my first new system in stores. Bought Wario Land 3 with it and played the crap out of that game. True nostalgia there for me. All the GBA games bring back sooo many memories too. Especially Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga. Amazing game.

I'm really hoping mother 3 will eventually be added to the list of GBA games. Even though it's extremely unlikely. The moment mother 3 is announced, I'll buy the expansion pass.
It really is baffling how many people have wanted Mother 3 for years, but Nintendo doesn't want their money.
What I have learnt is that if you believe in something enough eventually it happens
Have they ever released it outside of Japan? IIRC no so they'd need to translate it
@@OCV102 they released Puyo Puyo and Psycho Dream on the emulators, so I don't think that would be a problem. Even if it is just raw, untranslated game play, it's still the game.
@@bluebaron6811 Those two games have very little text to work with and are not text dependent, so anyone can get into them easily. Mother 3 has a lot of text, so a foreigner who knows no Japanese will be doing a lot of guesswork.
An entire year passed and we still miss key titles like
- Wario Land 4
- Metroid Zero Mission
- Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland
- A Link to the Past + Four Swords (pls let people play this amazing game again!!!)
Also special mention goes out to these titles:
- Wario Ware Twisted (Tilt'n'Tumble worked and this on did NOT release in Europe)
- F-ZERO Climax (The Best GBA F-ZERO Game and it never released outside of Japan)
I know the Retro Titles are not the main focus of the Company!
But it just hurts to know that the WiiU Library had so many more games

Inasmuch as I'd love the main series to be a part of the service, if they do appear on the Switch, I believe they be released as standalone games to be purchased. They were constantly the top selling title in the 3DS VC, so that way would make them more money (and Pokemon Bank compatible). Sadly, money usually wins. But $10 or $12 to play LeafGreen on the go and transfer my Pokémon to Violet? I'd pay for it in a heart beat

3:20 FINALLY Nintendo remembers that Golden Sun exists and was one of their best selling GBA titles.
I’m literally only here for Superstar Saga’s. That will always have a special place in my heart. I was watching and hoping it would be added to the list. It’s so crazy. Last week I was reading about it cause I caught wind of it being ported on the Switch but people wrote it was never gonna happen or a remake would never happen, etc! And now look! I purchased the Retroid Pocket 2, about two years ago (it is a portable emulator.) and I downloaded the game on there but when I would make certain movements off screen, it would crash. I suffered through it by saving the game with the emulator short cuts EVERY second I made in that game and I got really far, until the crash finally got me to a point when I tried to load the game every time I would get a black screen. I was so sad and gave up on it. But now I can finally complete the game. I have unfinished business with it!! ❤
Seeing as Golden Sun will be added, i really hope it has a built in file transfer feature with The Lost Age.

Wow Super Mario Land 2 was one of the very first games I played. What a nostalgia trip.
So, my mom had a gameboy as a kid and used to let me play on it. I always played super Mario land 2 on it every time. I absolutely loved that game, I went through so much nostalgia playing it again. That game is so fun and the music is amazing.
This is the perfect moment for mother 3 to be released

Both the American and Japanese version of the trailer didn't show Mother 3 at all, it's possible if it were to happen it would release at the same time in it's own announcement
Will they include Pokémon Red or Blue? Also, I hope in the future we get DS,.Wii, and Game Cube games. I also hope they continue to expand these libraries!

@90sNath Sad and true in some ways. The Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy temp drop is proof of concept that first party Nintendo GameCube titles can port outside of a remaster. Other titles from the GameCube library have no such guarantees.
As a Mother 3 enthusiast I must inform you that we may never rest until we finally receive our beloved.
You can play it on an emulator (modded with english) on your phone but you want nintendo to acknowledge it because otherwise youwill never get mother 4 ?
@@monkeygameplay5455 99.9% of people that want Mother 3 don't want Mother 4, Mother 3 is the ending of the trilogy. We want it on the switch because it's an amazing game that should be acknowledged, so that more people that don't know about it get to play it. Also, playing it with delay on your phones small screen is much more different than playing it on your TV.

I remembered playing the Mario and Luigi: SuperStar Saga and the Mario Kart Super Circuit games from the GameBoy Advance series since I was little kid, growing up at New York A.K.A the Big Apple from my old childhood moments and memories!! 🤩😭😁
I just wish we could buy individual titles on this lineup and what comes to it in the future 😭

I will never complain about having access to Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games in 2023. Also loving the fact that Golden Sun and Fire Emblem Blazing Blade are on there. Wonder if that means we can expect Golden Sun Lost age and Fire Emblem Sacred Stones? Bonus points if we get an official English translation for Binding Blade!

Glad to see GBA is FINALLY here, I'm especially happy it was a shadow drop. It's good to see them confirm this right before I was about to do one last buying spree of GBA games on the Wii U lol. I assume FE8 is coming further down the road, but it's kinda disappointing it wasn't flat out confirmed here.
Also I really hope the inevitable Pokemon Presents later this month confirms RBY, GSC, RSE, and FrLg coming to this.

I suppose the switch's limit is gba and n64 games for emulation, nds games perhaps too.
I imagine that for switch 2 they'll space out the additions and more powerful hardware could allow for Gamecube, nds and 3ds, maybe even wii, making nintendo switch online a library of sorts.

Nothing they've put on this service before has enticed me to get it, but the Zelda Oracle games and Golden Sun just might do it. Playing those again in a handheld format would be amazing.

Golden Sun! Incredible games!
How cool to see a form of gameplay like game & watch that is simple and creative and we are left wanting to know what takes creativity to the next level with something so simple.
Donkey Kong from game & watch what a cool little game and Tetris makes us want to make as many different lines as possible from the popular mini games of the time.
So glad we’re getting Golden Sun!!!

I am stoked to play the Minish Cap again and the Oracle games. Been waiting for rereleases/remasters for those since Link's Awakening. I hope this pushes Sega to add the Sonic Advance trilogy and Sonic Battle (or rerelease them separately). Also if Nintendo/Gamefreak adds gen 1-3 Pokemon???

Well. This was certainly an unexpected very welcomed surprise… I hope Pokémon games show up because being able to play not only gen 1 but maybe even 2 and 3 with gold/silver and emerald/ruby/sapphire. This is enough to subside, but GameCube would be very welcomed and highly received

Paying $60 a year just to have access to the games in the entire library is just insane. They don't give the option to purchase the game you like separately. $10-$20 should be the going rate for some of those games.
@@renkomon.8312 Those games separately cost you more than 60-120 dollars even now, all nes, snes, smd, gb, gba, n64 games added cost more than 1000+ bucks and u get them to play for some 60 bucks a year
@@alexalexius2688 I know that these games cost way too much giving the age of all those games. They have sold the old red blue yellow pokemon games on the 3ds eshop for like $10. And that is just the digital versions not physical copies. I do see the good side of paying just $60 a year for these games. I just wish to purchase the games I would like to play and always have access to them once the subscription period ends.
