Lovely video! Regardless of which version of DQX you commit to, the DQX worldwide discord is an amazing resource with all the people responsible for the clarity project. I started playing on the 9th of October and just cleared 1.0 not too long ago. It's so so good. DQX Offline ends with 2.0 which from what I've read is a decent stopping point but the narrative of DQX isn't really concluded there. The english guild (they're called teams for some reason) is super helpful and always game to tackle content so if you ever have the hankering the discord is a great place to be. Cheers mate
Dragon Quest 11 made me "get" JRPGs, but even since playing it I have tried other games in the genre and none have stuck. Dragon Quest's elegant simplicity is so so good
Slight corrections at around 12:05 You actually can keep playing the game for as long as you want, even if you reach your level caps and such. You can play up until the near end of Version 2 but are required to sub to complete it which sucks imo, but you're still allowed to log in and play the game as much as you'd like. Your level cap is actually level 80 for non-subbers. DQX is EXTREMELY generous in that regard actually!
I’ve always seen stuff about this game but never tried it but it does look interesting for sure. My first dragon quest was 9 sentinels of the starry skies for the DS. I randomly got it one day when I was younger because I loved dragon ball and the artwork was the same and man I’m glad I did i loved it. It’s about time I replay it soon it’s been years now. I’m excited for the dragon quest hd-2d remakes coming out soon also.
Been studying Japanese for two years and decided to pick this up finally for the practice. Still understand very little😅, but I'm amazed how well this fits the MMORPG I've always been wanting. Hope y'all enjoy 🐲
DQ X Online did get a short run in Korea and Taiwan, so it did leave Japan for a bit. They were able to use the localization for Online to provide the Southeast Asia version of Offline for those markets (plus mainline China.) So this is why they did a Southeast Asia release for Offline and we still haven't yet seen any western release yet despite being the slam dunk you, I, and everyone else outside of SquareEnix realizes it is. Most amazing fact about all this: SquareEnix has localized to at least English (if not many other European languages) every console and PC game they've released in Japan since mid-2019 except 3. * Ketsugou Danshi: Elements with Emotions (you probably never heard of this, and probably don't care) * Dragon Quest X Online (versions 5.x, 6.x, and 7.x) * Dragon Quest X Offline SquareEnix can't tell us this isn't a gigantic problem. They can't tell us that it was more important to translate games like The Centennial Case, Various Daylife, The Portopia Serial Murder Case, or three different Voice of Cards games more than a Dragon Quest mainline title.
Please cover more DQX. I would love to see you get into the later versions, though they are full-length games in themselves. I'm curious if you ever played FFXI or have taken an interest in it?
FF XI is the (Non Mud) game that made me get MMO's, but the one I've wanted to player ever since I heard about it around launch was DQ10. God I hope it releases in the west some day.
Everytime I hear people mention Dragon Quest V they always hype it up to be one of the greatest games ever and I always get curious to know if it is that good. I guess this just goes with a bigger problem of not a lot of the DQ games being available on modern systems so hopefully the remakes will change that,
DQV was pretty revolutionary. Multiple branching paths and a story that follows you from childhood to adulthood hadn't really been done in such a compelling way if even at all. To be fair all of these games were really cheap till 11 blew the series up, hopefully we'll see remakes of 4,5,6 and ports of 7-8.
Yeah man, hopefully they just make a version of DQX Offline for the West and simply call it DQX. It'd be a great Switch / PS5 game for sure. I don't really care that much because most people haven't even played all the others, and we have 12 on the horizon. I still need to work through 5, and finish 11, and then I got all those Monster / Joker games too. There's - a - plenty.
The audio on this video seems much higher than most other videos I'm watching today. Even checking back compared to some of your other wavelengths posts. Thought my speakers were having an issue at first.
Annoying fact check, but Pokemon was in development before DQV and other games that are often cited as its inspiration. Its just that Red and Blue were stuck in development hell for so long.
DQXI S having the little blue ghosts be less mysterious (because of the tockington fuckers looking identical) still makes me want to cry, NOT a definitive edition

I've been learning Japanese for the past 10 months and I'm a huge fan of DQ11S (my first JRPG) 😏

I am playing one of them
Is Ganondorf back there standing on a PS Vita?

Is the demon swordsman class from the DLC in offline? If so I might play this fs.

The first Megami Tensei game was still earlier.
Also DQV was probably also in development right after DQIV was released in 1990.

also the original versions of VI and VII are just as good if not better than the remakes so uh, more games on the pile?
