Without their help, the U.S would’ve never become an independent nation. 2) Spain possessed all the Pacific Northwest coastline. Captain Martinez even seized a British vessel along with its entire crew and sent them to Mexico City for trial. 3) Spain actually had settlements all across the continent whereas English and French only had small trading posts
