So I was looking for reference pics to possibly custom paint my own SS BB Shockwave and someone pointed out that Shockwave has an Autobot logo on his right forearm, and even the figure has it!
I love how this figure is essentially what we all asked Hasbro for when the core class came out; just upscale it to voyager or leader class. And they did it. Can’t wait to add this Shockwave to my BB movie collection
When I saw that scene of the movie in the theater, I heard him in my head commanding the troops in your voice. It made me laugh out loud when no one else was laughing.
The altmode would really benefit from some kind of panel to close up those gaps in the middle of the H between the robot mode arms, the robot mode legs, and the torso, kinda make the whole thing feel more solid and coherent. But that's really the domain of $200+ 3rd party figures and/or upgrade kits, not Hasbro, at least not in the mainline or Studio Series figures.
I don’t mind this figure as a whole my only complaints are I wish it used a darker shade of purple and the scuffing is a bit weirdly placed especially on the legs
Ahaaaaa we got our shockwaves from the same place. Mine arrived earlier today and I’m less than pleased with his articulation however upgrade kits are kinda nuts now so I’ll just be patient. Love the thumbnail reference and as always you are the best around.
I think like Megs he would have benefitted from being a leader class, get a slightly more interesting alt mode out of him or if nothing else some more involved engineering and bit better paint apps like the silvers hes missing, otherwise cool looking figure! Excited to get mine, still dont have a single Shockwave in my collection so he'll be a valued addition!
I would've liked to see a comparison with the TFP Shockwave since they have very similar design queues. Namely they layout of the tank mode and the fins off his back.
I love this figure. I want a Studio Series Transfomers: The Movie one (MAKE IT A GUN!) one so much. My cousin had this guy from G1 and I was so jealous.

Who wants to bet that if Hasbro shared the design notes for this figure like they did Pinpointer, that at some point he did have the bicep swivel but it got "budgeted out" so they could hollow out the upper arm pieces?
I still have my Dark of the Moon Voyager Class Shockwave figure that I bought at a discount in 2012, but I'm tempted to want this Studio Series Shockwave as well. He looks good and he towers over almost all of his fellow Decepticons. Pity that he has no bicep swivel, though.

Essentially, this Shockwave is an upscaled version of the core class version. Not opposed to it. Could have used bicep rotation though
