These gentlemen have the ability to help a learning guitarist by "switching on a light" for them to see how to play in new ways with new techniques that aren't that different from the ways they already know. So much of this is based upon Chet Atkins' years of "figuring out" how to play what he could hear in his head... and Chet was all about teaching since he was always learning!
Hands down three of the greatest guitarists (and humans) on planet Earth! Incredibly fun to watch and listen to you guys. Anyone who tuned into this video learned so much from this one hour at Rich's place, just think of what we'll learn at the camp! I'm so looking forward to joining you legends in August at RMGC! Thanks Richard, John, and Pat!
I remember Burt Weedon's play in a day tutorial. To get anywhere near these amazing virtuosos it's play all day for the rest of your life! Amazing musicians.
What I'd really like to see is the top 10 Chet stylists including these fellas, (and Jim Nichols), take some beautiful, well-known melodies and arrange & record them as they think Chet might have done. Things like Killing me Softly, River in the Rain, Silver Wings, Nikita, Rhapsody in Blue, a bossa nova song or two and "an original song I wrote that I think Chet would have liked". Then they'd all get together and listen to each others versions to compare notes. It would be a hoot and result in a ton of fine guitar picking.
The best of the best right there!
