    Congratulations for keeping these vehicles roadworthy, brilliant. Each one has character whereas today majority are all the same and too complicated. Please keep this for many more generations. Bet the London air quality did not change either. All barking up the wrong tree!

    London to Brighton Run has got to be one of the greatest ever British traditions.

    • @CEng-ge6sw
      @CEng-ge6sw Месяц назад

      Yes, but hardly a British car taking part because we lagged behind in motorcar
      manufacture and development. The French, Germans and Americans being well ahead.

    • @OCCUPIEDNATION
      @OCCUPIEDNATION Месяц назад

      @@CEng-ge6sw Not sure I agree entirely - early Vauxhalls were pretty awesome. And obviously Austin and Morris were making them in volume. I think the biggest factors in there not being many British cars present was the rust inducing climate and also the lack of space to store old cars - I remember one of my Uncle's leaving his beloved Austin 7 on his garage roof in the 1970s. But he was an exception.

    when i lived with my parents (many years ago) this used to go past my house, it was in kennington road just past lambeth north station. always amused me that several used to break down there, this was when it started (i believe) just over the north side of westminster bridge

      I did, thanks to your tip-off. "Genevieve" the 1953 film must be just about the most iconic British films of all time.

      @@brianevans4200 Definitely so! I saw her for the first time at last year's run (2023), which was the 70th anniversary of the memorable film. They ran the Spyker too and both were allowed to cross the finish line together, along Madeira Drive.

      @@bobmarshall1066 That's great news. I have seen the film loads of times, yet I was convinced Genevieve was red. I had to check the film to find I was wrong. How memory plays tricks. When John Gregson was driving along the roads, the crew had to keep a lookout for both him and the police as he couldn't drive.
