🔎Today, we’re going to explore the 5 worst fruits for high blood pressure including a fruit you should be aware of if you’re taking ANY medication.
    5. Canned fruit
Canned fruit is often packed in syrup, which is high in sugar and can lead to spikes in blood sugar levels. This can be especially problematic for people with diabetes or other conditions that affect blood sugar levels.
    4. Ripe Bananas
Ripe bananas are high in sugar and can cause your blood pressure to spike.
Bananas are also high in potassium, which can be good for controlling high blood pressure as potassium dampens the impact of sodium. However, high-potassium foods can interfere with some blood pressure medication and heart medication, so talk to your doctor if need be.
    3. Grapefruit
Grapefruit can interfere with the absorption of some medications, including statins and drugs given to people with high blood pressure and diabetes.
    2. Some fruit Juices
When a fruit is juiced, it loses much of its fiber which could mean the sugar in juice is more quickly absorbed into your bloodstream, causing spikes in blood sugar levels.
    1. Crystalized and Candied Fruit
Most candied or crystalized fruit contain a ton of added sugar or even worse, high fructose corn syrup.

The reason why this video exists is to ensure you never get off your blood pressure meds as grapefruit and grapefruit juice naturally lowers blood pressure. Swapping out regular table salt for Lite Salt by Morton’s or NuSalt is not based on Sodium/Chloride, but is Potassium/Chloride. We are vegetarians, this diet has gotten my husband off his BP meds, along with weight loss.
Another interesting thing about grapefruit, is that it also lowers cholesterol. As cholesterol can form plaques in the arteries, makes the arteries more stiff. So grapefruit is very healthy for you. When my husband was getting off his BP meds he went down to half of his BP pill. He did this with supervision by his VA nurse over the phone.
I still have him take his BP daily. Being at a BMi is ideal for a healthy heart and good BP. My husband is still over weight, I am at goal and am in weight maintenance. He does not seem to care if he loses the last 10-20 lbs. But it is important to do. Extra weight is not healthy for weight bearing joints, your spine and it increases the risk if stroke and heart disease.
We eat very low fat, as it helps weight loss. I eat the Starch Solution diet by Dr. John McDougall. I’ve lost 80 lbs. My BP was sometime elevated but I was never on BP meds. My cholesterol was high, but got it down by losing weight and walking daily and exercising.

None of these are commonly eaten by Indians on a daily basis, yet it is the diabetes capital of the world. This is because of the consumption of syrupy Indian sweets that are often fried and/or soaked in sugar syrup. So the enemy across the world is sugar. It should be limited in cultivation. Cos sugarcane needs a lot of water while it’s growing that depletes ground water levels, and the consumption of sugar in excess causes all sorts of illnesses.

That would be good information to know. I would chew up 4 per day.

As a side note, canned fruit should be avoided and any food stored in tins/cans contain higher levels of salicylates too so should be avoided if you have a sensitivity to salicylates/intolerance or allergy to aspirin. Not linked to blood pressure but interesting info for anyone who reads this who it may affect. 🙂
Sugar also aids clotting of the blood / is a coagulant and encourages strokes and heart attacks.

I always put things in plastic into glass! Good to know about cans! Now I will start when possible, putting can items in a glass container!

    Hello
Thank you for your advise I love eating a lot of ripe banana, now that you have mentioned that it's one of the worst kind of fruit I will have to limit my intake, not that I have high BP just to be safe n healthy.
    Thanks, Yahu from PNG.

I have been making smoothies using a Vitamix for years, and my Cardiologist gave me a list to avoid. Five of your list made it with the exception of bananas. Been doing this for years, and feeling fine. I juice on occasion but not much, being aware of the sugar spikes and loss of pulp for fiber. Its nice to switch once and awhile and my doctor has no objection to it as long as it is infrequent, and as long as I avoid pre-made juices purchased in stores. Great video thank you for posting.
