🔎Today, we’re going to explore the 5 worst fruits for high blood pressure including a fruit you should be aware of if you’re taking ANY medication.
5. Canned fruit
Canned fruit is often packed in syrup, which is high in sugar and can lead to spikes in blood sugar levels. This can be especially problematic for people with diabetes or other conditions that affect blood sugar levels.
4. Ripe Bananas
Ripe bananas are high in sugar and can cause your blood pressure to spike.
Bananas are also high in potassium, which can be good for controlling high blood pressure as potassium dampens the impact of sodium. However, high-potassium foods can interfere with some blood pressure medication and heart medication, so talk to your doctor if need be.
3. Grapefruit
Grapefruit can interfere with the absorption of some medications, including statins and drugs given to people with high blood pressure and diabetes.
2. Some fruit Juices
When a fruit is juiced, it loses much of its fiber which could mean the sugar in juice is more quickly absorbed into your bloodstream, causing spikes in blood sugar levels.
1. Crystalized and Candied Fruit
Most candied or crystalized fruit contain a ton of added sugar or even worse, high fructose corn syrup.

The reason why this video exists is to ensure you never get off your blood pressure meds as grapefruit and grapefruit juice naturally lowers blood pressure. Swapping out regular table salt for Lite Salt by Morton’s or NuSalt is not based on Sodium/Chloride, but is Potassium/Chloride. We are vegetarians, this diet has gotten my husband off his BP meds, along with weight loss.
Another interesting thing about grapefruit, is that it also lowers cholesterol. As cholesterol can form plaques in the arteries, makes the arteries more stiff. So grapefruit is very healthy for you. When my husband was getting off his BP meds he went down to half of his BP pill. He did this with supervision by his VA nurse over the phone.
I still have him take his BP daily. Being at a BMi is ideal for a healthy heart and good BP. My husband is still over weight, I am at goal and am in weight maintenance. He does not seem to care if he loses the last 10-20 lbs. But it is important to do. Extra weight is not healthy for weight bearing joints, your spine and it increases the risk if stroke and heart disease.
We eat very low fat, as it helps weight loss. I eat the Starch Solution diet by Dr. John McDougall. I’ve lost 80 lbs. My BP was sometime elevated but I was never on BP meds. My cholesterol was high, but got it down by losing weight and walking daily and exercising.
Great video. I avoid dairy, fried food, salt and sugar. I have lost 25lbs I am off pressure medications for the last 8months and my pressure is now 107/73
What do you eat daily breakfast.dinner .tea i am struggling .
@@annelawson3682 sorry to hear, I blend Oats with oat milk, walnut, ripe banana, bkueberry, cinamon and nutmeg. Sometimes oats porridge. I pouch my eggs. Not all canned fruit are soaked in sugar. Some come in their own juices usually made from the juices from the peels or skins of the fruit. Best read the label.
And be sure toDrain the fruit very well!😉
Right on!
Some canned fruit in moderation is quite healthy.
@@herbbowler2461 Just eat fruit the way that Nature grows it. NOT out of a freaking Can! You seem to just want to justify your weak and unhealthy food addictions!?#UGH
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217
You are an asshole!
Eating whole foods natural is the best Of Course. But sometimes fresh fruit is not available. For those occasions. Canned fruit without added sugar or chemicals is perfectly healthy.
Also asshole. I am not addicted ti anything!

Drink more water and walk. That will lower your diastolic numbers
That's not high. Not everyone normally meet the standards which are lowered so doctors can put more people on meds.
Thank you very much for this very important information, it opens my eyes to the real truth of what are really we are getting from our indulgences of what we are eating. I learned so much and would be very careful now of what I eat, since most of them have a danger side effects. We should really find out the pros and the cons of what we eat.
Glad it was helpful!
Smile and the whole world smiles with you 🙂

Durian is very sweet. Should it be avoided too?
Thank you i have hygh blood pressure l did not now,i was eating grep fruit, i new greap fruit bad for colostrol medication.tanx again
Grapefruit counteracts against blood thinners.
Think you
Thank you for the video as a Community health work with graduate degree in Health education l know exactly what to eat to keep myself healthy mean away from diabetes and high blood pressure . But sometimes l cheat on banana and some candy fruits mixed with nuts when l am working Night Shift. But l keep a rural diet like a medium spoon of kernel rice a small bowl of fresh salad and a small bowl of mix broiled vegetables and a little piece of meat or fish every day . I cut out on orange juice another fancy cocktail juices that they sale on the supermarket I eat my avocado one orange or tangerine or a mango every day rarely l have a banana. Because l was warned that l was BP and sugar borderline 3 years ago. Since l practice this diet l my BP and Blood sugar become in their normal range. But l was still unable to get rid of the banana in my diet from now on l have to do so I am very scared to be on medication for diseases like HBP and diabetes.
I take blood pressure medicine, and watch what I eat,so far my blood pressure has been regulated.
Grapefruit is good for you, actually helps lower blood pressure, but they don’t tell you that because they would rather you take the medication. Flaxseed is also beneficial and helps lower blood pressure. Need to find the reason behind the high readings and not mask it with medication
Why is it, that . . with added salt. . . ? I thught, there will be a discussion of "" F R U I T S ??! "" only! Don't get off the original & reall subject? This informative tape is ruined, by the unnecessaryadded things!! This tape = 3 out of 5 ok! =
I've rejected taking bp medicine for the same reason, not wanting to mask the symptoms
I don't take meds.
I eat any raw fruit.
At 75. B. P. 105/62.
I have read that taking Grapefruit is bad for you if you suffer from High Blood Pressure, also not recommended
if you have Diabetes, I tend to think most of the information given by so called experts is not to be believed.🤔
@@StooFras-TheFiresofHell.
Grapefruit is bad for business if you're a doctor or pharmacist but good if you want health. There is nothing wrong eating grapefruit. Except it interacts with some medications.
In that case throw the meds. away and eat the grapefruit.
You will be better off.
Thanks a lot for being there for us as i have following your tips for last few months along with Drinking 1 cup of Arjun Tea of Daily Basis for the prevention of high blood pressure and i have some wonderful results
None of these are commonly eaten by Indians on a daily basis, yet it is the diabetes capital of the world. This is because of the consumption of syrupy Indian sweets that are often fried and/or soaked in sugar syrup. So the enemy across the world is sugar. It should be limited in cultivation. Cos sugarcane needs a lot of water while it’s growing that depletes ground water levels, and the consumption of sugar in excess causes all sorts of illnesses.
Avoid canned fruits, but all other fruits are good for high BP including overripe bananas !
Thank you doctor🙏❤️
Thanks Cranberry pineapple juice good or bad for highblood pressure?
Lemon juice, Apple cider vinegar, grapefruit agree for some, certain fruits cud be harmful for some people..Grains, green veggies, yougurt, pink salt suits for some...
This has nothing to do with the fruit itself, it's how the fruit is prepared with added sugar. Bananas are high in fiber which controls the levels of sugar going into the bloodstream.
Can we drink ordinary lemon juice or it will increase our blood pressure?
Yes we can drink lemon Water it detoxify 's our liver great for our skin alot more benefits
PLEASE comment on this question
Good information but please specify if the sweet gummy vitamins do any good to the health?
That would be good information to know. I would chew up 4 per day.
As a side note, canned fruit should be avoided and any food stored in tins/cans contain higher levels of salicylates too so should be avoided if you have a sensitivity to salicylates/intolerance or allergy to aspirin. Not linked to blood pressure but interesting info for anyone who reads this who it may affect. 🙂
Sugar also aids clotting of the blood / is a coagulant and encourages strokes and heart attacks.
As it studied sugar is a poison?

I always put things in plastic into glass! Good to know about cans! Now I will start when possible, putting can items in a glass container!
How about dried dates how high is the sugar
Hello
Thank you for your advise I love eating a lot of ripe banana, now that you have mentioned that it's one of the worst kind of fruit I will have to limit my intake, not that I have high BP just to be safe n healthy.
Thanks, Yahu from PNG.
If you want to lower your blood pressure, lower your weight. Leave the sugar out of your diet altogether.
I eat bananas every day n I hve HBP but its controlled thank u 4 sharing Shireen South Africa
What about carrots ginger garlic and beetroot juice
The part about bananas and grapefruit surprised me. Thank you.
Yes, it’s surprising! 👍
I have been making smoothies using a Vitamix for years, and my Cardiologist gave me a list to avoid. Five of your list made it with the exception of bananas. Been doing this for years, and feeling fine. I juice on occasion but not much, being aware of the sugar spikes and loss of pulp for fiber. Its nice to switch once and awhile and my doctor has no objection to it as long as it is infrequent, and as long as I avoid pre-made juices purchased in stores. Great video thank you for posting.
I buy pomegranate juice..it is extremely healthy..I do drink v8 juice..
Beet juice is another one I drink..
@@bjbo726:39 6:41
Don't drink smoothies you might as well be drinking sugar syrup. Stick to whole fruit
@@bjbo72 I get unsweetened orange juice with pulp, and V8 low sodium.
How about ripe mangoes?

Why do they add both sugar and high fructose corn syrup to the same foods?
