Nathan - Survive used to be mine. Now it's a few songs off the EP *(Fade Away / Escape the Mind)* & a few off of *XXI Century Blood* LP *(Show The Light / Shattered Heart).* When the 3rd album goes out. It might be a song like *Martirio* (that will be one of 12) or another. Ask me a month from now & I'll have other favorites.
Honestly it is my favorite too- mostly because it was my first The Warning performance to see. I have since gotten really into their cover of Hysteria from way back. Ale nails it on the bass at 10 years old!!! Here is the link to that performance if you have not seen it. ruclips.net/video/fU26wmlF3yg/видео.html
‘Don’t hold on...I surrender in my defeat’ may be the saddest line I’ve ever heard in a song, and I’m 52 years old. If that line doesn’t make you cry, I don’t know if you are human.
What Dani does seamlessly, better than most seasoned pros I've seen, is she plays rythem and lead at the same time. If you watch her hands, you'll start to hear the singular lead notes mixed in with the rythem she's playing. It just depends on the needs of the song. Then there are times when Ale picks up the lead notes while adding separate rythem notes. All three kill it!
Bands usually figure out dynamics midway through their careers. These three are already very adept at its use. Not everything should be loud. Not everything should be the same tempo. Songs can, and should ebb, flow and build upon the melody. They are masterful composers, as well as writers.
Ryan - Sometime when you do Survive, play this video of when The Warning opened for Def Leppard in October, 2017. Ale was only12 then. It's a good quality video. Funny story about it. Def Leppard's manager saw how young they were and thought they were just going to pretend to play to a backing track, or something. They were so impressed that, after the performance, they invited them on to their Guadalajara show and the band came out on the side of the stage to watch them. ruclips.net/video/rMyi69SXTHI/видео.html
TED Talk's Survive was the second song I heard from The Warning and that hooked me. Found them thanks to Ryan! If they ever come to Arizona I'm definitely seeing them.
When it comes to watching people's reaction to The Warning...most people, sorry, everyone who reacts to The Warning, in one way or another, makes a connection with the music. Almost immediately, you can see, first the surprise at what they are seeing, then as each member of the band does their thing, the padding of that impression, until finally the accolades start flowing out. I appreciate the impact that they are having on younger people.
And now it's time to play everyone's favorite game show: What Did Ryan Get Wrong?! 🤣 Sometimes you crack me up Ryan. Love that you guys have such a good time. Reminds me of the times with my brother.
They may not have heard of them at the beginning but they sure knew who they were at the end. just checkout the crowed response at the end. By the way I around the same age as you guys are, I turn 60yrs this year and have a normal voice😣. ☺
Love this combo of personalities! Great collaboration guys, really enjoy your commentary, silly repartee and analysis. Look forward to more, if I live to see it (seeing as how I'm 90+ years old! ;-)
Ryan, We are all old men/women with high voices... And yes I am only here for the Warning videos... I have watched ever single one you did on your original page, twice, and I gave you a thumbs up on every single one... Your work is announced the day it is posted on Patreon and Facebook by one of the members, if you do not appear in my RUclips home page... We love you for your content, just not all of it... Watching 3-5 Warning videos takes up most if our time... Thanks for being a great fan and bringing along Nathan into our rabbit hole... I hope when The Warning tour next y'all get a chance to met up and go see them ! I'd love to see the video and hear the stories !
I love Ryan's impression of us... So funny!!! But these are three powerful songs about topics that teenagers don't usually write songs about. Dany wrote When I'm Alone when The Warning went to Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2015, she was incredibly depressed about being home sick and having a song writing assignment that was due and not having any ideas for the song. Paulina wrote Black Holes about a family friend that was suffering from addiction issues and this was her observation when she was 13. Not all songs The Warning write are from personal experience they read a lot of fiction novels and watch a lot movies and get inspiration from there since none of the girls had suffered a traumatic break up they drew from what they read and watch to write Survive.
There is Warning video with a Q&A and Dani explains that "When I'm Alone" was written when they were at Berkley in Boston for 5 or 6 weeks on Ellen and Target's ticket ($10K each) and she was home sick. Pau explained that Black Holes was about addiction and she received many thanks from recovering addicts. How does a 14 year old (or younger) write a song that dark and deep?
I guess its because everyone loves the band, and are all amped as to how much attention they're deservedly getting, and I guess we are all watching a little bit of history in the making, especially when the new album drops.I first heard them 6 years ago and followed everything they've done, but it wasn't until last year,I couldn't bite my tongue any longer and had to comment. Its been a long but enjoyable ride so far,and is only gonna get better.
Heya Ryan, it's been a hot minute since I've seen you around.. and greetings Nathan! I see you're getting the VIP Warning-reaction-treatment, LOL!😆 I just wanted to throw this in really quick.. just an observation from watching multiple people react to 'Survive' from TedX. Most female reactors are the first ones to catch that Pau is drumming in heels, but they'll miss the broken stick shortly before (or they just don't mention it). OTOH, most male reactors will *ALWAYS* catch the broken stick, and don't see the clip that she's actually doing this in high heels (or they don't mention it).😉 Anyway, Survive has always been a crowd favorite, and probably one of the best 'bangers' that the Warning gals have ever written! At least the most memorable, although lately it seems Narcisista is holding a very close second. 🤘😎🤘 Interesting new channel. I just subbed to see what will happen next!🤣👍 *EDIT:* Incidentally, Pau's drumming style has changed a lot over the last few years, and she's become a lot more efficient (i.e. not as much movement, but the same or more volume as before), plus she was doing some deadly rim shots in this performance that will snap even really good sticks.😮 Ryan, you are absolutely spot on about the outro! *THAT* outro in *THIS* performance is what really got me wound up about these gals. I had seen them around before, and the appearance on the Ellen show, the Enter Sandman vid, etc., but this show, and *THIS* song sealed the deal!! Oh, and don't even get me started on Black Holes... best Rock Ballad ever, hands down.😁
Love the reactions! I have watched all 3 of those videos many, many times and Survive and Black Holes ALWAYS give me chills. These are absolutely my favorite versions of Survive and Black Holes. You will notice Pau smiling at the beginning of Black Holes. She is smiling because she hears people singing along with her... and when she smiles it's like the sun coming out! Love these ladies and really enjoyed your reaction videos. BTW- Would love to see your daughter singing Black Holes.
How much more Canadian can you two be. I love it. Greeting from BC. When Nathan decides to become an Patreon support (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). He should check out the girls reacting to themselves. It quite a ride.

I think Pau breaks alot of sticks because of the way the cymbals are tilted they look like they are tilted flat instead of at an angle and shes peobably chipping away at the stick with the edge.
No lessons to learn on the style of drumming. Ryan's got it. She's performing. Also, that's how Pau plays the drums. Signature, if you will. Sorry, got kinda butt hurt by that.
Pau is a true stage drummer. Attention draws to her. She is opposite to Nick Mason that is a fantastic drummer that is so smooth, so perfect..... but not a stage drummer.
Foro Didi sucks. Maybe it was a great show live but the video has the album sound overdubbed onto the live. Check out Lunario 2018 or the Whisky shows for a better live sound. Or some of Erick Alderete's shows he has uploaded for us to enjoy. Gracias, Erick.
Rock in front of a seated audience. Somehow that doesn't fit. The girls are great as always. I love Paulina's attitude. With her I always think she'll destroy the entire drum set.
Survive is quickly becoming my favourite song right now. ~ Nathan
Survive is my favorite Warning song. Just waiting for something on the new album to knock it out of it's top spot.👍

Black holes gives me goosebumps every time I hear it love how Pau sings it
When Pau is going nuts at the end on the drum, her ponytail is like a helicopter rotor whipping around and around
Yeah, I thought she might lift off that drummer chair.
Black Holes jumped directly into my heart of hearts even before I understood the depth of the lyrics meaning.
it's a vibe. Chills. 100%.

Everything I hear from them is so well written. I think the ones that cut deepest for me all come from "23." "A work of art that's no for me at all"
