3:09 Dude was THIIIIS close to having a bad day. Holy hell that gave me so much anxiety.
yes man, same here. you need an extra lip that extends the base a bit further so that the wheel doesnt shift the ramp like that.
Same thought here. It looked like he raced them up the ramp though. I go up the ramps much slower.
Whenever I drive my maserati up on ramps, I try to do it as fast as possible. If you ain't livin on the edge, ya ain't livin
3:08 my heart went out my ass😱
Bro has been living life with his heart hanging out his ass for 2 years now. What a brave survivor. 🫡
Pro tip, Do not stick anything in between the frame and the pan that holds the tire as its lifted up. If the jack fails, Youll lose your hand or whatever is in between it and the frame.
I just left the same comment before reading yours.
Surely the safety pin will stop it from dropping?
@usmanalinotlate in the video the guy should have put his hand in from underneath the frame to put the safety pin in. Not between the frame and pan. Because the hydraulic lift mechanism can fail at any point.
Safety Note: Whenever Driving a Car Up on Car Ramps Frontwards or Backwards to Raise the the Car you should always have the Drivers Door Open, then Hang out of the Door a Little Bit, this will allow you to "Visually See how far the Car is Going Up on the Ramps" helping you to see that the vehicle doesn't "Drive off the Ramps..!!!!.... As seen in the Video on the Passenger Side of his Car he "HE ALMOST DROVE THE CAR OFF THE CAR RAMP" which would have been "VERY UGLY"..!!!!!!!!
You could either weld an additional stabiliser at the end of the ramp or mark the front with wheel chocks so you don’t overshoot the ramp like you almost did there.
That’s a great idea cuz
Yeah I thought he was going over! 😂🤦♂️
6:00 6:00 6:00 6:00
I was in suspense for a second there myself.
This would be a little bit of work but cheap insurance.
Have a welding shop weld in some bolt down tabs on the corners, position the ramps in the garage, drill holes in the concrete, tap in some lag anchors and bolt these puppies down so the ramps never move.
You actually should release some pressure to rest the car on the metal pins after you get it where you want it. That way its less change to snap them in half since its already sitting on them.
I get an anxiety every time you put the pin in and pulled it out from the top part of the ramp frame 😂
don't be afraid, fear is nothing and he's the one that bleeds and dies... not us...
I got anxiety when he almost overshot and dropped the car on the ramp
Please pull pin from under the bar next time and take it easy going up the ramps. 🙏
@@Resist_JWO_1984. Wow ok there Mr. GrimReaper.
This is a great video. I didn't know that this type of jack existed until I did a search for "tall automotive ramps". Your detailing of how they work and what features they have, shows me what is an absolute must when buying them. Thank you!
Glad I could help, Wes!
Lol, glad I'm not the only one, I went on ebay and Typed "Tall Car ramps" because some guy down in town has some that are 4+ foot tall, and then I seen these.
Would be nice to see you drive front end onto ramp to see front bumper clear the ramp without binding
If it did bind the fix is extremely easy
awesome video and detail on the dimensions. Can you let me know what is the thickness of that steel used for this ramp? Thank you
Did you ever use these forwards ( low profile)…? Just thinking of buying these. Look great!
May I suggest you remove and replace the pins from the underside. The way you did it you risk getting your hands chopped off. Just saying. You loose your hands and you wont ever need the ramps again
That’s a very good point thanks for sharing
fantastic vid, thanks, any long term review?
Interesting never knew they had these.
Definitely gonna get this it’ll be useful for my manual swap
Awesome! Thanks!!!
Plastic drive ons are good for pickups.Never want nut on top. If it comes off bolt can drop. If nut fails on bottom bolt still in place albeit loose
I always have someone watch me drive up the ramps when possible. Love those ramps.
Looks like the design could be improved with the jack throw, reminds me of trying to untightening a bolt in a narrow place.
I agree. I prob would modify it at us a small floor jack
I agree, only I would modify it with 2 6inch 10 ton porta power cylinders. That way you could raise and lower them at the same time, by using a splitter off of the pump, wether it be manual or air powered.
Although in all honesty it would probably be cheaper and easier to buy a portable, or stationary drive on low rise lift for your garage.
Was there clearance for you to drive the front of the car up onto the ramp or did you have to use some wood to start the car on it?
I think you should also chock the front wheels when you are on so the car cannot go forwards at at.
Sweet Car!!! who's looking at the ramps!! okay, Thanks for using a car with big tires so I can get an idea how the tire sits on the landing... I think it will definitely work for a 2020 Highlander Platinum.... (You have to take a bunch of matting / covering off for an O/C)
How will they work with my 3 inch low profile 04 mustang GT my bumper always hits when I try to drive up on my ramp
Nice job getting the car on the ramps. I'm always scared that I might drive over the ramps.
This is why car mechanics are around
Can you help looking for SCOOP and LIMITATION of car Lift Ramp. Thank you🥰
Fantastic review 👍just bought a pair and don’t come with much instructions
Peter, this looks like a great product. I have a car, similar to yours that has a very low bumper in the front. My Question, do these ramps work for the front of the car? If not, any suggestions?
If not, ramp extensions.
Cool for oil change.
Question: How are you changing brakes rotors struts and things that requires the wheels to be off ?
Btw I'm asking cause I don't know.
Once you raise it up you can place a jack stand somewhere, then lower the ramp pad and remove the ramp. Don't need a floor jack.
@@SnapperHead714 Thank You👍
I can't seem to find 3. anybody give me a link where to buy them. Thanks
Gonna for sure get some of these got a exhaust leak in my 03 cavalier prob just replace the complete exhaust and then find me a welder to weld my muffler on for me
Wow! Never knew they had these
How do you change the wheels?
I notice you didn’t drive on forwards, is that because you don’t have enough clearance under the front spoiler to use them for the front of the car?
Probably you can just use a jack tho
You can use them to jack either end, but I'm still using jack stands as backup, I don't trust jacks
Hey man, Big kudos for getting a Maserati Sport coupe instead of one of those terrible 4-door/family models!
Peter von Panda, do you still have both arms attached? If so, a bit of advice to you.
Next time you do this, keep your arm in there after you pulled the pin out, then release jacks pressure with another arm. Keep the video rolling, don't screw it up, you only have one chance to record. Post new video on any gore sites.
So when you almost overshot the ramps, the ramps front part came off the ground. If your jacking the car up and it were to roll just a little further back, I would imagine the ramps would lift off the ground even higher and more than likely the car would slide off and defeat the purpose of working on your own vehicle (saving money). This is all IMO of course.
That's what can happen with the plastic rhino ramps also, if you go up a little too far the back raises and the whole ramp collapses. For plastic ramps, the Harbor Freight ones are probably better as they are more solid plastic whereas the Rhino Ramps are made to store inside each other, so hollower and will bend easier.
@@guestguide2544 I bought a pair of those Rhino Ramps, I really don't trust them, What could go wrong, made out of genuine plastic right? Trying to use them on our garage floor with rear wheel drive car, the damn things slide, just not good for me. I think I need to drill in some 1/2 inch bolts in the floor to bolt a 2x4 crosswise to the car and then rest a ramp in front of it, to help with sliding. These ramps look like they would work well as long as you dont overshoot the end .
Ordered a set of these off amazon, one of the jacks was leaking, the instructions were severely lacking, and they wanted to slide out from under the vehicle. To solve that I mounted a 2"X2"X4' long piece of angle on my concrete driveway that the back of the ramps will rest against. Amazon is sending me a replacement jack, but I have decided to not use the factory jacks, and instead use pneumatic jacks instead. I'll use a splitter on my air line, that way I will be able to raise/lower both jacks at once.
i am thinking about the air myself if i buy these, did you do it or how did it work out? thanks
@@stevenakn1 the ramps themselves work
Fine, my problem was with the jacks. I replaced the original bottle jacks with low profile pneumatic jacks, and they work wonderfully.
@syncronisity1 sounds like a good idea thank you.
Hmm, the problem I see is if you wanted to use this for any engine work, it's not going to happen on a car with how high those ramps are. There's no way the front lip could clear that, most barely (if at all) clear those gray plastic ramps, and these are quite a bit taller. You could stack 2x6's or whatever but that gets kinda tedious. Feel like it's fine if you have lots of ground clearance or an SUV or something, but not so much a sports car with a front lip.
You ever get a weight of each ramp?
could you use four and reverse the whole car up?
I would think these ramps could hold nearly any vehicle you drive, because when you think about it, it is not actually the entire weight of the vehicle you're supporting. It's only the part that's parked over the ramps, maybe half the weight. is this a good assumption?
I think that’s a good assumption depending on the weight bias
Haha, don't call them shear bolts, that's asking for trouble!
Lol
Considering purchasing these. But concerned about driving off the end. Any advice? If I do go ahead I want to use axle stands for safety in case of a dead fall.
Go slow and stop once you feel the tire in the bracket, open your door and make sure the stand is flush with the ground, these look super safe..use the safety pins also..Been working on cars for 45 years..
How height is ramp?
Any chance of a 3 year update on these ramps? I'm thinking of getting some and would like to see how they've held up over time. Great video!
I don't use them often, but I still have them and used them for my lawn mower this fall!
@@petervonpanda That's more my plan. Bought a new Zero Turn mower this year and these "look" like they'd do the job for getting to the underside of the deck.
So after posting this 3 yrs ago, do you still use them? How have they held up?
Yes. I want to know also.
new subscriber sir. whats the over all measurement sir?
Were did you buy them
How sturdy is the material used to construct the ramps? I wanna get one but the metal used looks too thin.
The metal is solid and very heavy. Might not look it but it’s beefy!
I don’t trust the gauge if the flat stock steel used, especially on the sides, I can see the whole ramp crush laterally like a parallelogram. Good idea, but needs square tubing before id buy it...
That would be a good enhancement.
@@petervonpanda Thanks for sharing this.
After several months, any updates or observations?
Also, are you able to drive the front end of a low clearance car onto the ramps?
Do this safeky you really need 2 pp and I'd still have jack stands under it for more piece of mind... i dont like the way you have to jack each side up separately.... they need a hose and fitting to combine the jacks and make them either electric or air with manual jack as backup.
Yeah, it's a pain to jump from side to side every few inches. It would be nice if you could pump both simultaneously.
in the uk the cheapest I found was 110 pounds a pair I think they are going to be really good
Where from?
@@squidgyblack3321 £179.00 on amazon for a pair...
@@squidgyblack3321 where from
Did your car scrape coming off
Super Pro tip. Never back your car into a car ramp. You almost wreck your car underneath. You always move forward into the ramp.
This brand cheaped out on the quality of the bottle jacks. takes probably 50 pumps to get that jack to be extended all of the way...
good concept, but they need to use higher quality components
These ramps look awesome ...only issue is, the platform is too narrow. I got 3 cars with 11 inch wide tires.
who cares about looks, IF they work is what matters..
@@zolitariglussey6302 WRONG ... if they look ugly, they dont get purchased. I dont give a shit what it does, if the cosmetics are not there, then they stay where they sit
You need 4 to do oil change for leveling
Bro how much are Ramps??
Put the pin in from underneath. If that ram gives way at the wrong time it'll take your hand off.
How much are those
not too sure about the extra heith thing, doesnt look too good, the ramp is great though.. it's a really bad design
I THINK THESE ARE A GREAT IDEA, BUT NEED IMPROVED DESIGN BY THOSE WHO HAVE ACTUALLY USED THEM..3.09 IS AN EXAMPLE, BUT MAINLY DRIVER ERROR..LOWER RISE AT THE FRONT..I NOTICED HE DIDNT DRIVE CAR ONTO THEM FORWARDS..AND YOU CAN STILL GET I THINK BOTTLE JACKS THAT SCREW UP, SO A DRILL/DRIVER WOULD HELP A LOT IN RAISING CAR ONCE ON..MMMMMM!!
They are very nice, but on the other hand… For $300 you can buy a monster jack with a crossbar and then wheel stands at Harbor freight for that much… Then you can actually do wheel work as well, Which you can’t do with ramps
I like that idea, but my wife has a Kia K900 and the darn thig is so low to the ground, I dont think that setup would work. I guess these ramps would help.
Seems like a low profile jack and Jack stands would be cheaper and faster... 🤷♂️
I can not for the life of me get the bolts the same way you did with the nut on top of the jack housing. the jack body is too close and there is no room.
Never reach over to pull the pin, go under
Peter are these low enough for a 2020 camaro on the front or would I still need to drive up on a 2x4 to start?thanks bud!
Do you think Peter knows high low or high your camaro is ..??
@@ACommenterOnRUclips dont know if he knows or not that's why I was asking
And ..normally ppl who drive or own sporty cars that sit lower have a general idea without actually measuring and I know nobody who has a set.not too hard to figure how to make it work was just asking a question
@@terragrappler1 thats a very specific question to a very specific car ... why would you think that he would know if it would fit under a car that he does not own ..?? Let alone know the height specs of a 2020 camaro ..??
its like me asking you what size tire goes on my 98 nissan 240sx ..??
@@terragrappler1 not ALL sporty cars sit at the same height from factory.
Me ... i would have done a search on the 2020 camaro and found out its ground height clearance, and not asked this guy because he does not own a 2020 camaro, let alone looks like the type that would know.
Look at how he drove up on those ramps at that speed and didnt even know what those jack lock pins were called ...
What computer do you use to edit?
iPhone
Peter von Panda you use your phone
3:09 oho no! what if he reverse a bit more the probably took alot of damage :(
Got pretty close. Luckily they have a lip on the rear edge
My heart stop for a few seconds at that point
@@petervonpanda They do, but you almost tipped the whole ramps.
Be VERY careful as could easily have totalled the car.
Very clever designed !
Save space for car repair!
Lol at the cig butt. Looks like a marlboro light sir.
I saw theses ramps for sale online from Lackt.. My question is, They cost 64.88 but does that include both ramps? Then I heard where you mention the price you paid.. Now I really wonder if I would get both for 64.88? It does state a set/pair
Lackt?
Will these ramps work on a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500?
Crew cab 5.3L V8
I can't say for sure, but I ran into a guy who had the same set, and he used them on his Ram pickup.
Found a pair of hydraulic jacks like these that holds up to 10,000 lbs for $205.00 on ebay. Definitely would hold that Silverado. Great review Panda
Yeah bro it's steel! U can always just throw a more heavy duty bottle jack to upgrade
Love it
I was hoping for it to be different than it is
you almost lost it when driving up the ramp....hahahahaha!
not a safe guy
Yeah man. That almost went south.
bad design also for the ramp, there should be support bars behind the ramp too
I started dying laughing when he almost launched it!!
that would destroy the Maserati for sure... but IF he has boat repair fiberglass in the garage he'll be fine..
A little reckless when you drove your car up there , thought it was going over and gunna scratch your fancy car .
Overshooting ramps is always the biggest PITA of the process.
you should have stuck that locking pin from below the platform, because if the hydraulics failed, your hand would be chopped off
Do you think you can use 4 on a car? For front and back?
yes. but put jack stands underneath.
about $200 on ebay,
NEVER STICK YOUR ARM TO SET PINS...
I thought Maserati owners got the butler to return the car to the dealer when work was needed. :o)
How high will it jack up?
Max Lift Height: 15 inches,Max Length of Bottom: 44.9 inches; Width of Bottom: 13.3 inches; Width of Top: 11.4 inches; Width of Platform: 9.4 inches;
At $300, one or two shop visits avoided pays for them!
So true!👍 I wasn't seeing it that way.
A good Jack and 4 six ton jack stands will lift the same height and you can work on wheel related things.
My man u got some many ghost spirits in the garage I swear ill send u a cleanse kit u needa use it plz.
3:09... well that was nearly a bad day
It almost became the video titled “I destroyed my car.”
I literally said gasped out loud when that happened like I was watching a horror movie!
any update review ?
I haven’t used it a lot but my neighbor borrowed it to work on his Xterra and it seemed to worked fine for him too
@@petervonpanda
Do the feel solid?
the thing i hate about ramps is that you can overshoot and fall off & the ramp damages the underside or wedges the car.
Especially with manual cars. Ramps always stress me out a bit.
How hard is it to work on Maseratis?
It's definitely harder than typical cars... not impossible, but a lot of things that are simple on many cars are a challenge. Like changing spark plugs often requires unique spark plug sockets, and on the older Quattroportes, I think you're supposed to lower the engine to get to the rear plugs.
@@petervonpanda good grief! 😮😲😲
Harder than Chinese arithmetic.
Dude!!! Get some sense and when inserting and removing the pin go under the frame and not between it. Or else your friends will start calling you nubs. Even new hydraulics fail and it happens more often than you'd like to think!

Anyone try these on a truck they say can hold 10,000lbs
Looks VERY unsafe. With the type of car you have, you should buy a 4 post or a quick jack. MUCH safer. Hydraulic jacks blow out on occasion.
Now if there was a hydraulic version on 110 with safety catches. Maybe. Also with your low car and mine the low plastic ones are better. I use a 2x10 on approach. Keep my bumper
that welding......🤬 its death trap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!☠
At your own risk, but, ..... If your drive wheels are going up the ramp (Front wheels for FWD, rear wheels for RWD) power brake your way up the ramp. (Rely on the brake, NOT the gas...) (apply brake, give it enough gas to get up the ramp while holding the brake, then lighly let of brake to climb the ramp, using the brake to stop instantly when needed.... WAY safer than using the gas alone to climb the ramp and hoping you hit the brake in time...) Somebody just about had a very bad day....
The guy should have put his hand in from underneath the frame to put the safety pin in. NOT between the frame and pan. Because the hydraulic lift mechanism can fail at any point.
I just built my ramps i feel feel like its better
