I love the two sayings, "Comparison is the thief of joy" and "There can be no joy without gratitude". If you can delay gratification and learn to be happy with what you have, then you're able to move on to paring down your life. Putting those blinders on and focusing on your finances brings so much more happiness. In my 20s I always thought if I got this, bought those, just had some of that, I'd then be happy. The contentment & piece of mind that I have being debt free and living a simpler life is wonderful. Whatever way you use to get there, I'd recommend that you try. Nice to see you again :)

Your videos have helped me stay on budget at university, and plan for the future (I'm currently saving up for a new phone, as my current one is 3 years old, but I'm hoping to keep it going for at least another 6 months so I can save a small amount each week towards it!)
It's great to see you looking great and talking so much common sense! One of my un-nieces says that I am so uncool that I'm cool (and her favourite 'auntie'). Pursuing my off trend interests is deeply interesting and satisfying to me, and certainly gets me into interesting conversations. My second hand Skoda runs economically and does everything I need and will be kept as long as it runs well and passes its MoT. My clothes are mostly from charity shops, and I love the serendipity of shopping that way. Old clothes get turned into patchwork, so that is additional life for each garment. I currently have a pile of scraps of baby girl clothes that are left over from making a quilt from a friend's daughter's first year clothes. These will be turned into a crazy quilt. There is another pile of dismantled silk ties to make into a gorgeous quilt that I have been hanging my nose over for years. Blankets are being crocheted for Christmas presents. The left overs from these will all be used up. Faith gives me freedom from the need to follow trends and be more conventional!
