The day when I have to sin games that I've already sinned is finally here. At least that game is Resident Evil 4, one of my favorite games of all time, but a game I can easily find things wrong with because the original wore them on its sleeve. Resident Evil 4 remake may have rolled those sleeves up a bit but the same issues are still there, plus a few new ones.

The original RE 4 actually explains why Leon was sent to Europe alone with a file regarding Ashley that you can check in your inventory, it says Ashley was kidnap as a result of confidential informations being stolen meaning only someone who works or used to work as a government's operative could have had access to those informations and know with precision Ashley's whereabouts to be able to kidnap her. That's how Leon immediately knew it was Krauser who kidnapped Ashley as soon as he sees him, since Krauser had been his partner when they were in the US Socoms and so he had access to confidential informations.
Before knowing that it was Krauser who kidnapped Ashley, the Secret services believed that there was a mole among them and without knowing who to trust they couldn't even be 100% sure of their intelligence's informations about Ashley having been seen in Spain. To avoid sending a whole team to rescue her only to fall into a trap, the president sent Leon, one of the very few agents he trusted completely and also the one who was going to be assigned as her bodyguard right before she was abducted. Leon had to make sure the president's daughter was really in Spain before sending reinforcement to him in case he actually found Ashley. In fact the moment Leon says he found Ashley Hunnigan sends a US helicopter to rescue them both but in the original RE 4 they say the first chopper got shot down before it could reach them. In the remake they just say they couldn't send it immediately cause of the bad weather.
Later Hunnigan sends another chopper when Leon is able to inform her on his new location by contacting his base through a radio antenna he finds on the island just so she can tell Mike where to go search for him when she sends a new chopper to help Leon (the scene of Leon contacting his base on the island is completely missing from the remake and Mike just finds Leon on his own somehow, even though he had no clue he was on the island since the last time Leon spoke with Hunnigan he was in the castle).
Lol, they also have that file in the remake
That last fact about the antenna, where did you see/heard it? Because in the original in that cinematic only Leon is shown trying to communicate, failing in the attempt
Interesting. I always thought that all the experienced agents were sent to investigate more likely locations, and the rookie Leon was just sent for the long shot (which turned out to be the right guess).
@@armedwombat6816 it’s revealed now too with Death Island, that this is the mission that got Leon the recognition as a top agent
@@jorch6169 he had sent the SOS but failed to communicate with his base believing they didn't receive his message but it's implied that they got it, that's how Mike found him later on.
I’m suprised u didn’t sin the fact Leon still had his knife even tho Ashley dropped it on the other side of the gate and the game nvr showed Leon reaching to grab it
I just noticed that on my current playthrough
When Ashley ran I was like "Wait! At least slide my knife back!"
I know it's the original an not the remake, but I noticed that your knife doesn't change after the Krauser fight in VR.

I lost it at when he said "Salazar went from looking like a French paralysis demon to just looking French"
Tbh, I call this Remake design "Betty White Salazar"
He does look like the scary grandma that makes the best cookies.
and the worst part is that Salazar is not even French
All this makes me want to visit France 🤔
I love that line...
As a cop myself: the amount of paperwork Leon has to put in in series-canon "Kennedy-report" gives me a spontaneous migraine lol
They better accept vocal report, rather than written! lol
“This is like suspecting the Amish for a cryptocurrency scam”
This is genius writing lmao
I mean no one would suspect an Amish of running a cryptocurrency scam... which would be the perfect cover
I liked ‘The cultists with worms in their brains have more enthusiasm in their delivery’ lol
how did Luis know that the hole was there? Pretty dam evident this guy has no inkling Luis tried to escape and makes perfect sense for him to know of a few good hiding places. Doesn't want to get caught with the sample. Doesn't want to be detained by saddler? Seems good enough reasons to me. 🧐
I was about to make the same comment
There are logs describing the history of the Plaga. Apparently Salazar's ancestor beat it and trapped it beneath the earth. With that, you could argue the reason the village is so unadvanced is because it intentionally isolated itself to better hide the Plaga
Oh wow I didn't know that
I thought maybe the outbreak there happened a few decades ago so the villagers have been immortal the entire time as a scheme like there's and starting a cult takes years. Would also explain the importance of the monarchy
Then WHAT ABOUT THE VILLAGE RECORD LOGS ABOUT THEN??
There are places like that all over the world tbh
You should visit one of them amish village
26:56. I’m surprised you didn’t win this part. Leon tells Ada to use a knife for close range fighting earlier in the game, yet inexplicably reaches for his gun against Krauser and completely ignores his own advice.
Yeah they teach you in the police academy that pulling your gun on someone with a knife who’s around or less than 21 feet away will get you killed. Although Leon is a trained agent so I’m sure his QuickDraw is faster than most. However Krauser is much faster due to the plagas. Either way, yeah Leon made a dumb move but I consider it a heat-of-the-moment decision over being pissed that he betrayed his country and killed Luis
@@shadowofdread7018 I was gonna say the exact same thing
My own former mentor shows up out of nowhere, whom I thought was dead, and I have no idea if he's even an actual foe, because this happened in the span of less than 5 seconds. His mind would be clouded with thoughts racing left and right. He wasnt seriously gonna go for the gun, but was rather hovering over it, as if not being sure if the situation actually calls for it
hadowofdread7018 I saw something like that in a movie. The pion asked the Sargent what was so special about knives when all he has to do was push a button. The Sargent told the pion to put his hand up to the wall. When he did the Sargent threw the knife and pinned the pion's hand to the wall and told everyone else "An enemy cannot press a button he's incapacitated." 😂

I have a sin I couldn't stop thinking about.
In the OG RE 4, Salazar sends the Verdugo down to kill Leon after he avoids impalement and shoots Salazar's tube phone thingy.
In the remake, Salazar doesn't actually know that Leon survived falling down the trapdoor spike pit. How then does the Verdugo know to go to the underground facility to kill Leon?
"Hey Verdugo, knowing Leon has a tendency to be extremely lucky and survive most things I do to him, can you go check if he's really dead?"
Is probably a dialogue between salazar and Verdugo that we don't hear
I think they're much smarter than you give them credit for. Yes they're stupid when it comes to keeping Ashley captured and letting Leon live (my theory is that Leon would be a valuable assassin under their control so they'd want him alive, as Luis states Saddler's plans are to turn enemies into powerful allies in a text in his lab) but they're smart when it comes to anticipating Leon's potential whereabouts (probably due to Saddler's hivemind connection) and are able to stall for time so much so that Leon barely made it until getting the parasite nuked. It's not unreasonable to suspect that the Verdugo would be sent to the sewers in the off chance that Leon survive the pit fall as that's the only way back to the surface.
Plot holes in all the remakes left and right
Leon is infected so they know where and alive he is , I think 🤔
@@clarie4497thought everyone kind of assumed this but I guess not lmao
The sin at 20:20 is unwarranted. If you remember there are 2 entrances to this room. One is the one that leads to the maze which Ashley took, and the other is the one through the bridge.
Ashley never had to through the door Leon went through. >.>
Man, I like Dart but how could he miss such an obvious detail?
Right exactly! When I got to that room, I also wondered how Ashley got in the door being locked outside but I realized she went to the door near the staircase leading to the maze. Leon only got to that side for taking the loooong way around.
Most of the Sins are unwarranted.
He doesn’t think about them he just hopes no one realizes
He missed the boat obviously being a different one too. 13:11
For sin 30, you do realize that he takes a different boat after the first one sinks right?
Bold of you to assume he cross checks his scripts
10:04 - Pesetas were discontinued in Spain in 2002 and this game takes place in 2004, and in a remote, isolated part of Spain, no less. So it's not that unusual. It'd be like complaining someone wants to buy something from you using cash, instead of Bitcoin or Cash App. Even today, pesetas can still be exchanged for Euros at a bank; you just can't buy things with them. Regardless, it's a fictional universe; doesn't matter.
Your right in the early naughties I went to Spain and the currency was euros not pesetas.
Plus the Iluminados might not accept Euros. There are movements that believe the government does not have any actual authority. In germany we have people claiming the German Reich is still the rightful state. Its not farfetched to believe the Iluminados don't accept the authorities and thus still cling to old currency
8:35 Fun fact, in the Japanese dialogue of RE8, Heisenberg calls Chris a gorilla rather than “boulder punching asshole”, which is a homage to the Japanese fans of the series giving Chris the nickname of Gorilla because of how buff he is in RE5. In the English script, this is replaced with the boulder line to align the dialogue with the English-speaking fans’ perception of Chris
I don't think that's entirely accurate. Modern Resident Evil games are written by Westerners (Antony Johnston, in RE8's case). So it would be more accurate to say the Japanese gorilla line is a translation of the original English boulder punching line, rather than vice versa. Unless I'm missing something.
@@snowblind9551 If the lead writer is an English speaker, you’re probably right, it’d make more sense for the English dialogue to be the original script if that’s the case. I’ll edit the comment to make it more accurate.
I think what it is is that a Japanese writer came up with the story, then the English writer does the script, then that script is translated into Japanese.
They translated their fanservice ❤
I hated that line in RE8 because it was so fanservicey. How would Heisenberg even know about his boulder-punching escapades? Did Sheva tell him? I don’t hate that it’s fanservice, I just hate how he somehow knew about it and the fact that he brought it up is only for fanservice.
The ritual Ashley was given is for the advanced Plaga. Like the main bosses they retain a lot of their personality but are still loyal to Saddler. They’re not just mindless and more violent like the ganado.
I was looking for information on this. I was certain too that what Ashley got was a specific variant of the plagas. After all they needed it to be so flawless no one could tell she was being controlled. So she retained her personality and lucidity until she was needed.
That explains why it lags. Because its different. And maybe for the benefits it provids to Saddler it takes a bit longer to bake
That would require paying attention to the game he’s playing which he refuses to do
@@urbiznesnunuv6938 on god all the remake haters just refuse to pay attention or completely cut out context to shit on the game.

@@urbiznesnunuv6938 I have a feeling the second Verdugo might show up in Separate Ways... and if it doesn't, well, it's fate is known as well, died alongside all the ganados as soon as Leon killed Saddler
At least Leon got to say his famous line. “Where’s everyone going? Bingo?”
He says it a bit late, too. They fucking knew we would be eagerly waiting for it! I’ve seen multiple streams of gamers going: “Come on…! SAY IT! […] Yay!”

Nah. His most famous line is "no thanks bro". Too bad it's just a trophy
Wheres one going every, go bing?
For the people that doesn’t know, D.C Douglas was actually coming back for the remake as Wesker but because he broke the NDA he got fired from the project.
Actually? Damn, that’s unfortunate
And apparently he's been "inappropriate with fans" lmao creeepy
Well that's his mistake not CAPCOM. read this you Wesker fans.
If anything, bring back Richard Waugh, the guy who inspired DC's performance. Especially if they're planning to remake Code:Veronica, where Waugh started his stint as Wesker. He also voiced Wesker in the OG RE4
@@LucaBlight25 I agree. At least they could bring Waugh or even a person that sounds like him. I don’t hate the new guys voice but at least he could try to sound like the other OG Wesker’s.
Well, the operation Javier as occurs in Darkside Chronicles doesn't happen in this remake. It was originally Krauser and Leon as partners, taking down a drug lord who was experimenting with T-Veronica to cure his daughter. Krauser gets a career ending injury and tracks down Wesker . Here, Operation Javier seems to have been a black ops mission gone wrong, and Krauser joins Los Illuminados to get back at the US government. He was also Leon's teacher and now has no link to Wesker.
Big L not being an agent for Wesker
@@jeambeam3173 probably the only genuine L in this whole game ngl aside from the removal of the cool laser room with the dodging QTE. Most of the “Sins” in this video get immediately canceled by even paying attention to ingame notes or cutscenes which explain them.
@@jeambeam3173 Why L Krauser goal is clearer in the remake rathen than just some lackey of Wesker, a guy that watch over Saddler. This time Krauser's goal is Unadulterated Power! so it seems aligned to me that working together with someone that holds the key of plaga aka Saddler is correct goal. What do you think bro?
@@weskintime4177 Darkside Chronicles also made it clear that Krauser started getting jealous of Leon because he was handpicked by the president and then began seeing what the Veronica virus was doing, and made him want power. The change of Krauser to "Yeah I just want MOAR POWUH" is still on brand and more clearly defined since it doesnt rely on DC telling you this now and OG RE4 was just "Hey, did you read that book? You didnt know there were any?" Krauser was poorly handled originally.
@@weskintime4177 the laser room was just s reference to the first RE movie, not that deep.
Minor nitpick, there's a second boat a little ways after the Del Lago fight. If you immediately 180 at the end of the cutscene, you'll see the boat Leon barely managed to drive into the boathouse, and he refuses to get back into it. (I didn't notice this until I watching someone else's playthrough)
Even if you don't turn around to see the boat you used during the Del Lago boss fight sink, did he use any logic in wondering how the boat just appeared on the other side of lake or did he even take one second to think it was a different boat
I’m surprised you missed this: when Ashley takes Leon’s knife and gets separated from him by the falling gate, she then drops the knife on her side of the closed gate, yet Leon still has his knife when we regain control of him.
I imagine after the cutscene, Leon shooed the over shoulder camera away, rushed to the gate to reach for it, yelping, cursing his large biceps
I always enjoy your sins; but I can't believe you overlooked the biggest sin removal in this game. Luis finally got his smoke after the Krauser fight.

Honestly the first sin was so well said it perfectly encapsulates my frustrations about how unoriginal Village is
The reason Luis wrote that escape plan in English is to make sure ganados can't figure out what he is up to. Judging by the in-game notes, ganados become less aware of what was going on as the plaga progressed.
I think the most interesting change to the remake's narrative is how much the war on terrorism effected the original story but is removed here; even though both take place in 2004.
In the OG Saddler directly tells Leon his motivation is punishing the United States for trying to police the world. And the idea of Leon being an American action hero storming in to another country and shooting everyone.
Even Leon accusing Salazar of terrorism and his sarcastic response and a number of other exchanges show this. Or how the remake does more to humanize the villagers prior to the infection vs just a basic they're a dangerous foreign threat like the original.
It's not deep but it is an aspect of it. And the remake does have aspects of Leon being a cliche American action hero but it's not in its DNA nearly as much.
You also have Krauser kind of being an agent of American military power (or an American company) and destabilizing other places to find power while now it's a more personal vendetta against the American government.
Just interesting how much when something is made effects a story regardless of when it takes place.
Las Plagas and the story being (intentionally or unintentionally) a post 9/11 terrorism allegory to just being bent on world domination now for its own sake and just happens to target the American government.
Most of the War on Terror stuff in the original was added in localization and doesn't exist in the Japanese dialogue. Presumably the writer this time around was asked not to include any.
A couple of these "sins" were not sins.
The boat that sinks after the Del Lago fight is different than the one Leon uses to travel around the lake afterward.
Ada wants Luis' sample because it is the "superior" plaga that doesn't cause its host to become a mindless murder machine.
Luis wrote his escape plan in English because 99% of his enemies only speak Spanish.
Luis finds dynamite because they are literally in a cave where they are using dynamite to excavate amber.
Who says Luis wasn't aiming for Krauser's head ad just missed? Also, if he knew what Krauser was capable of, seeing as he was an ally previously, Luis would know that shooting Krauser in the head would probably do jack shit.
So you mean to tell me he shot at Krauser’s head and instead of shooting him literally anywhere, he misfires perfectly at the knife. Genius.
It’s well-known that Dartigan is ignorant as fuck.
Also tiny Bluetooth earpieces that go into the ear canal and need to be removed with a magnet absolutely do exist.
"Do Jack crap"
I see what you did there.
But he was right about the first boat. It was leaking yet managed to stay afloat until night time
The antagonists do a phenomenal job of not killing the protagonist immediately when they have the chance, but instead sending steadily increasingly stronger enemies in small numbers at a time to hopefully kill the protagonist while they're out of sight out of mind. You would think they would take killing the guy who is blowing their whole cult world domintation plot wide open, more serious, instead of treating him like a nobody.
Who said they were good at planning? This is a makeshift government after all!
Unfortunately (or not), DC Douglas is off the table now, he won't be brought back. But Capcom could hire Connor Fogarty, who voiced Wesker in Dead by Daylight, - and did a pretty good job!
They won't hire him. Capcom being Japanese doesn't touch union workers with a ten thousand foot pole.
Never understood that myself.

The gun jam scene has a legit cause.
It was a "Stovepipe" jam. Ashley wasn't holding the gun properly. Her shaking and "limp" wrist caused the shell to not eject which caused the jam.
See, you MIGHT have a point. Had Leon not had a highly customized weapon. Also, had there not been multiple civilians firing guns who had no idea what they were doing. Not to mention, even if that was true, she was shaking and limp wristing two shots before that didn't jam. AND Adam Sandler over there decided to just walk off.

@@TheDapperDragonHighly customized in what way? Looks like a pretty box stock H&K USP to me. Not to mention those two shots could’ve worked the gun out of her grip which caused the jam on the third.
First, you don't need to use the tunnel, you can go around the fallen tower via a window, also Leon gets another boat.
Secondly, there’s a note in tent before you fight Krauser that literally tells you want happened in Operation Javier

Ada wants the specific piece of amber as the Plagas inside could be more powerful than Saddler’s. Leon only kills one person this entire game, Krauser. Louis’s document says that the Ganados can’t be saved as the Plagas infection is too far, so they’re already dead.
Krauser, salazar and saddler were all infected with variants that allowed them to keep control of themselves, plus the verdugo. He waxed at least 4 if we're counting them all as still human

Would fit his character too, lol.
Co op was fun as hell. You probably played alone and had to deal with the AI. Keep the Co op just don't make playing alone so annoying.. I played w someone and had a great time.
agreed, me and my brother played the game at least 10 times through together. RE5 is more "grand" in scale so having a partner is fine
RE5 was my first RE game and that multiplayer was fun as hell.
According to theories the AI for Luis is a test drive for an RE5 single player companion. And tbh, if they keep the style of Luis' AI for Sheva I'd be happy
@Lola Zo-El just don't make us share ammo with them again. That was by far the most annoying part. I'd rather the weapons they use be weaker, but infinite ammo than just as strong but finite ammo.
@@volcanolord100 I assume it will be similar to how Luis is handled in RE4R, so maybe you two use different types of ammo and can pass healing back and forth?
My sin is that some bosses' pre-introductions are neutered compared to the original. The El Gigante fight. In the original, you had the villagers that feared no death fighting Leon hustling and looking scared bringing the Gigante out. It comes bursting out and starts slaughtering the villagers while the scream in fear. They scream in fear. It took Leon knocking them off a bridge to make them show that kind of emotion and this thing was making the ganados wet themselves immediately. Then they're all dead and Leon does a slick cartwheel dodging the Gigante's grab. That's one hell of an introduction.
Second was the Verdugo. I'll say that the REmake did a good job expanding on its backstory and its previous life, but if you played the Remake only, he just came out of nowhere. Did you even know it was the red one?? The original had Salazar throw a tantrum and personally sent the Verdugo to hunt Leon after he survived another attempt to kill him and deafened his ear in the process. Now, it's like they expected him to survive the fall in the spiked pit
Yea, it's the lack of building of tension in this game's cutscenes, they go by so quick that you're left wondering "Oh ok, that just happened."
I agree about the Verdugo as well. Without any knowledge of the original game, you'd wonder why he showed up and attacked you in the castle sewers.
@@TheCyclicGamer he showed there because they knew Leon is alive. Saddler can sense parasite, so he knew Leon survived, and because of that he told Salazar to send Verdugo to kill him.
The original was definitely more badass, but the remake just makes more sense I guess, the giant has a plagua there's no reason it should fight the villagers or not obey orders.
@@IskeletuBr exactly. Theyre on the same team, so they shouldnt kill each other. Chainsaw guy for example kills ganados because he tries to hit Leon, not because hes a team killing maniac. It's an accident.
@Wilku2 I'd also like to add how the Ganados would hold you in place and sacrifice themselves if it can get Leon killed.
30:05 to be fair the room was guarded, you just kill the guards before you go on the keycard hunt.
It's also secured. You need the highest level of key card to access it.
Original: (complains he doesn't speak Spanish)
Remake: (complains he speaks Spanish)
I definitely agree with the intro, but here are a couple minor gripes that are or could be explained away. Mendez injecting Leon isn't necessarily done with Luis having a clear vantage point, he could have just appeared to be making sure Leon stayed down before moving them both to the next area. After Del Lago fight when you park the boat, if you look back the boat sank, so you get a new boat at the next dock through the other end of the area you landed at. You've already found a stack of TNT prior to the 2 on 2 fight with Luis, so he easily could have backtracked or otherwise known of or seen another stack. Krauser had already left the US on unsteady ground before he joined Los Illuminados, so he couldn't have infected high ranking members any better than their Ashley plan.
Also QTE cutscene fights weren't irritating when they give you a super cool unique death scene and can skip the cutscenes to 2 seconds before the QTE. It was only a problem in like RE5 on Professional where they give you less than half a second to react. Anyways back to the counters.
Honestly the speedboat convo being audible is better for simplicity rather than going, 'crap I forgot to turn on subtitles' and not being able to hear them at all, as the volume balance indicates the motor is on, but the conversation is what is important.
Overall I liked both as games, but the OG is still better on average for the numerous comparisons you listed among others.
Leon went from 80's action in original, to 90's grunge in remake.
Yeah, I wish they made him more edgy.
A lot of these sins are just “damned if you damned if you don’t” aswell as lack of game lore.
Yeah, and the comments here show that people wanted to whine about this game one way or another. Many whined before it even released too, just to be contrarian (as is the norm lately). It’s also really sad that some people can’t let go of the original RE4 for two freaking seconds and objectively enjoy a more modernized take on such a classic. I played OG RE4 way back then and I still love it (I’ve owned 5 different copies since then), I can love this game too. I feel that way too many people are getting caught up on choosing one or the other, hesitant to accept that both games can coexist peacefully in this world.
I see Dartigan has taken over duties of mispronouncing Luis' name from the original's Leon lol
“Louis”
I absolutely love that Ashley was able to resist the plaga enough to not shoot Leon immediately
Well that gun does 1 damage without upgrades and Leon in original at start of game has 150 hp (don't know if that is case here) so Ashley would not have enough ammo to kill him anyway.
@@skeletonchampion2885 lmao what kind of explanation is that? 😂
@@skeletonchampion2885 Metagaming is a cardinal sin in roleplaying, bro.
It actually was a bit plot convenient since being the president's daughter wouldn't grant her more mental fortitude than others the plaga possessed.
and that will be disadvantage for the rest of the night. any other meta gaming you'd like to do?
At 31:53 , I had a friend that was watching me play RE4 remake and mention that Krauser sounded like Brian Drummond as Vegeta from the original DBZ dub, and I can't unhear that shit 😂
Giving a sin for someone doing something unrealistic and then immediately giving a sin afterward for someone doing something that is realistic is wild, but all part of the gimmick I suppose
Right? He even criticized them for sticking too closely to the original script… “like a leech”. We all know what would have happened if Capcom didn’t do that. 😂 I mean for what it’s worth, they filled in the missing explanations from the original. Maybe it is all just for the parody.
As always with this youtuber, you can ignore half the sins, just cause he's nitpicky, or too lazy to check something.
It’s because he doesn’t give a shit. He says the boat is leaking which is fair, then says it’s fine when you get to the open water section when Leon hops on a DIFFERENT FUCKING BOAT.
Just have a laugh, guys. It’s not that serious. The intention _is_ to be nitpicky for most of these types of “sin” videos. Plus, it’s not like these types of videos will change anyone’s view on these games as a whole.
If you like it, you’re going to still like it.
If you don’t, you’re still going to dislike it.
@@TwoBs ok, but when the sin is blatantly proven wrong by in game knowledge it’s a genuine problem with the video. You can’t use “it’s a joke” as your get out of jail free card for everything
24:58 sin 75: you found the same dynamite that you used to clear the blocked tunnel like 2 minutes before that. Its clear that they are still mining, to get more plaga samples. At least that’s how I saw it. Either way, the game established that there is dynamite in the area.
Btw, loved the video. I really hope for the RE Remake one 🙏🏼
What’s wild about Wesker is that Dead by Daylight got a voice after who sounds remarkably like the original that they could have hired here.
Capcom doesn't work with union voice actors for one reason or another.
@@silverblade357 is DC union voice too?
That's the same guy.
@@Artemas_16 DC was not in the role because he broke his NDA, and because there is sexual harassment accusations against him
@@joaolima7131 that's quite sad. Half of Wesker's appeal wad DC's doing.
Luis story arc makes complete sense. He worked for umbrella before the raccoon incident when they were a respected company. He created nemesis and other monstrosities in his research. They used his creations to wipe out millions of people. He then ran back home to Spain and found work for a local lab on an island people oppressed for worship an insect (to make himself feel better) Those oppressed people used his discoveries to plot world domination to make “peace” He realized this, found a way to destroy the parasite and then turned to an organization of spies that wanted to stop them, but unbeknownst to him the leader of those people had plans entirely his own (wesker)to wipe out billions to create a new race of super humans. Not exactly a stretch for his character to have done any of those things.
He didn’t create Nemesis alone. He and some team that was working on the Nemesis project helped create it since Nemesis was in Europe.
maybe i'm just a weirdo but i loved the island in both this game and the original, it felt so fresh after the castle, which felt like it takes a long time which isn't a bad thing!
Nah, not weirdo at all, Island is great!
The only issue is where would that island be? right next to Ibiza?
You have parties and beach full of people and 10 km away an infested militarized island full of ganados and bad weather? 🤣
They should have decided to make the game in some hidden valley with big lake in Bolivia or Peru, they speak latin spanish there, Poor countries, lots of weird stuff, there is room for hidden labs and villages.
@@fberdfthey already did with dark side chronicles and I doubt they would like to change the settings to another Latin America country since they got a lot of backlash for resident evil 5 being in Africa

Backlash? RE5 rocked, only hardcore fans did not liked it, the setting and place is good, the story just needs some balacing if they ever make a remake out of it.
same man, especially because of that new salazar boss fight, it was annoying.
@@fberdf Meh, screw South America lol.
Also another thing. Im not sure if i just missed the part on multiple playthroughs but i think there is a really huge plotpoint where Ramon does send his right Hand, the verdugo, after Leon. But after that his left Hand (the second verdugo) is never to be seen again. In the original he was atleast used to aid Salazar in his Transformation but in the Remake its like the 2nd Verdugo never existed once he recaptured Ashley in the Grand hall.
This bugs me so much cause its actually one of the only enemy types that pose any sense of challenge to Leon and makes the game so much better between just mowing down endless humans with cloth robes and wooden shields
I noticed that too. I thought I just missed something in a cutscene
Hopefully Seperate Ways will fill that gap
The left hand is going to be U3 or ‘It’ in this version. It will be an enemy in the Separate Ways DLC.
Wasn’t the president tipped off by a team of spies that ashley was seen near the village, which prompted Leon being sent?
Yeah, it's not like he was just a rookie cop with PTSD either. He was a combat trained special ops soldier at this point, but his experience with things like the T-Virus made him the better candidate. They had received a hint, that the cult had taken her and what it was about, so the sent him because it wouldn't be his first merry-go-round.
@@thiccolascage8180 lol yeah, his first day on the job was dealing with a post apocalyptic scenario with little help. In that universe it makes sense to largely just send him especially after additional training and missions.
Yeah, also the claim of "there should be an entire swat team present just in case" like, yeah they had reinforcements prepared. Leon's mission was to scout the parameter, find Ashley and protect her until said reinforcements arrive. The arrival was impossible based on weather conditions once Ashley was located and the location confirmed, when they got into the castle (looking for shelter, safety from the Ganados and help from Luis). In the castle they are under attack, not really safe enough to wait for reinforcements and they are waiting on Luis with the cure. Communication with roost fail because their frequencies get jammed. The frequencies used by the government. Not all of them. Therefore Ada, Luis and Wesker still have channels to communicate over, even more so when they aren't too far apart from another.
The amount of sins made up to pat the sin counter are immense and with just 2 seconds of thinking or actually playing the game while paying attention to details would have cut the counter in half at least
For 3:38, Leon wasn't invited to join the US task force, but was rather forced to.
This was stated in the Hard Mode ending of RE3 Classic, IIRC.
Edit: It was Classic RE3, not Classic RE2.
Close, it was actually in one of the Epilogue files you unlock by beating the OG Resident Evil 3 on Hard mode
@LucaBlight25 Thanks. I remembered seeing this mentioned in one of the classic Resident Evil games, but I wasn't sure which game it was.
Also, he could have just look up the ending to leon's rpd story part in DC to find out that US forced leon to cooperate to ensure sherry's safety.
He also says it in that very same cutscene. "I didn't have a choice."
When I played the RE4 remake, Leon yelled in the church looking for Ashley I thought to myself, don’t yell because you’re going to give yourself away.
Omg, I thought the same exact thing. On my seventh playthrough now but here’s how I think of him yelling out for her now: It’s a pretty small church and enemies are generally always vocal, Leon doesn’t hear anyone else and he’s trying to make finding/securing her just a little easier on him considering how difficult it’s been getting in there. So it’s more of a “WTF, this has taken long enough already… Ashley Graham, where are you? We need to go”. Hopefully this makes that part a bit better for you like it did me.
they would have found out either way lit so it really didnt even mattered lit. Remember his infected with the plagas and sladder knows where his going with that in him
These sins just make it feel like you slept through half the game while you watched someone else play it
Dartigan you absolutely crack us up over here…your videos are so well written and your delivery is perfect. When you retire, you should make a box blu-ray set cause these videos are collector grade quality and we watch them back to back anyway 😂 10/10 no notes
I just finished the game, finally able to watch and then nitpick you.
11:28 you don’t “have to” use the well, you can just go into the house next to the fallen tower, climb the stairs and jump off the roof. Also, the tunnel looked like a natural occurrence when a village digs two wells for the same underground water source, which dried up due to blockage later.
13:36 did they ship her across the Atlantic?
30:05 She was only unguarded because Leon killed all the guards
And many others have mentioned, the plagas clearly have different variet that require different processes to take root
Ada’s post credit scene: She hears W say a hundred die so one may live, which is quite similar to what Leon said earlier on the boat ride. That’s when she changed her mind.
I think "this time, it has to be different" is Leon saying he wont let another horror be unleashed on the world. And if Ada's post-credits scene is accurate, he succeeded. Which also means that, while she tried to betray Leon, he was able to have an effect on her this time. Or maybe he's thinking about people like Kendo and Marvin, esp he second time he says it...
Or it could just be a callback to the opening of the game lol.
Had to disagree with that 'remove coop' suggestion for RE5 remake, just remove the coop features when playing alone but still let you have fun time with a buddy when you want to.
Another sin should’ve been Salazar asking for Ashley and when Leon says no he tries to explain that Ashley will help his master control the world and then asks Leon to comply after explaining. Yes, Leon is now going to change his mind and give Ashley up because you said you need her to take over the world:
I don't know if you ever covered this but ever since door openings have stopped being cut scenes to load in the next room, all hinged room doors have been 'saloon' style doors that can be pushed from either side which is pretty rare and makes it not quite as effective at keeping a zombie from breaking through. The only doors that are 'pull to open' are cupboards and lockers.
If you think about it, the reason the ganados keep leaving behind maps and letters is because they assumed that Leon doesn't understand Spanish. While he didn't show it in the original, it's the case for it as well.
Extremely disappointed that Leon and Ada seemed so cold and distant in the remake. In the original they were always flirty and their encounters always had a bit of spice.
Here she's basically treated like an inconvenience
She always betrays him in the end anyway so nothings changed 😂
@@mitleid_enTo me it's more like Remake Leon has the personality of RE6 Leon

@@unimpartialobserver Here’s the thing tho she quite literally cares about him I mean you can even see that when she looks at him at the end out of her helicopter after finding out about wesker plan. She wants to spend time with him but can’t because of her line of work. Plus if wesker knew she was around him she would’ve had no choice but to kill him. She can’t be around him for that reason and is why she’s so distant. She does help him here though and saves him from saddler if she didn’t care about Leon she wouldn’t have saved him or Ashley from saddler.
About the laser sight, i m pretty sure the new reticules was made to balanced the red9 tpm and broken butterfly who where wayy too good. They are now like space maker body shot and others gun have laser and bonus on crit spot. I like that
Also gives weapons like the Red9 and TMP actual reason to use stocks. In the original, the Blacktail's "good handling" just meant you'd be able to aim it around quicker, but this doesn't have tank controls so it wouldn't work with mouse aiming.
Honestly the only game I know of where having a laser sight actually makes your aim better, instead of just saying "hey you can hip fire from this weapon now have fun"
Sin 13 is meant to clarify for the audience what the codenames mean, they're pretty obvious as it is but there are going to be new players who might be confused. After that scene Leon and Hunnigan stick to the codenames and never reveal their real identities for the rest of the game (if you exclude the last scene of the game where Hunnigan finally managed to get in contact with Leon again and calls his name). So I don't think this is really a sin, besides in this remake the Los Illuminados don't seem to have the tech to wiretap the connection like in the OG, I think the only thing they could do was disrupt the signal but then again there probably weren't any towers close by besides in the island.
Oh and removing coop from RE5 is a huge mistake. They just need to make it scary but with a partner. D.C Douglas won't ever voice Wesker again after he broke NDA and Japanese companies are big on loyalty and trust so it's safe to say his voice will be put to rest considering he was supposed to be Wesker in this game. 😂
I dont think the coop was the problem in RE5, it was mainly the AI (and I dont mean Sheva, too. Chris can also be dumb as bricks if you play as Sheva).
I think the parts with Luis in this game were Capcom doing a test run with implementing their new partner A.I. for a possible 5 REmake
8:55 Was Leon taken to the island to be infected? I just replayed the base game and it looked like he was stuck in the building with Luis when he became a host. I could tell because of the boxes and the hooks in the background.
That’s exactly what I said.
I’m glad everyone unanimously agrees Krauser is essentially Virgil
He sounds like him now and even had the same desire for power
The radios weren’t being jammed, it was the weather and him being in the castle that was causing interruptions
Agreed. Even if it wasn’t the weather, they could have blocked longe range frequencies from being received/transmitted, but allowed for short range frequencies. This is something that’s actively done by some militaries during special ops.
Village was a great experience. Donna's manor undermines multiple playthroughs but the first time experiencing it all was fantastic, also finding secret bosses by exploring was so fun.
You've put into words exactly what I thought when I finished the game: basically everything we wanted was there, except that they sat down and said, "Okay, now we'll take this matter VERY seriously" and threw ALL the campiness out the window... And that's made a world of difference.
They didn't throw out the campiness at all imo, it only feels that way due the seriousness but I would argue the camp is ABSOLUTELY still there in this remake. Hell Leon's talk about scripts with Salazar is so campy and hokey, yet it's still in the game
"Nighty night, knights." "I'll let myself out!" "Looks like your tap-dancing days are over!"
@@alexandernickaboine4798 Hm, not sure about that. I feel that the campiness was relegated to some nods to the original game, like the ones you mentioned. And most of them felt out of place to me. Granted, the plot in itself is kinda hard to take completely seriously, and hence some of the buffoonery is still there, but, comparing to the original, it's reeeeally toned down.
@@NatanCaetanoits just poorly delivered
@@NatanCaetano I can argue despite the attempt, Remake feels somewhat less scary than the original. I can list everything.
1. The Morose and foreboding cloudy weather is gone.
2. Trees are still green.
3. What made Dr. Salvador scary was that he was a clean person who does what he is told. He kills Leom quickly in the original but here he is just another Ganado who his OHK.
4. In the room where a Ganado with an Axe ambushes Leon and Luis. In the original, he was anticipated and even Leon was fearing him. Here, he comes out of nowhere and his presence is forgotten.
5. The Dogs have much more exaggerated features making them less scary.
6. Del Lago jumpscare is infinitely worse than the original.
7. For a supposed rainy night, the village is still well lit. In the original, the village turned very dark and grim. Here it just feels like a regular village.
8. That foreboding storm SFX is gone.
9. The Cutscene where the Villagers walked away was somewhat creepy as it showed there is still some humanity left in them. Now the cutscene is replaced by an over the top, almost comedic feeling cutscene in a supposed serious game.
10. The Save Room Ambience also felt somewhat creepy. Like suggesting calm before a storm.
11. The scene where the Giant kills every Ganado was also scary. TBF, the Zealot waking him up is also scary. I wish it was a combination of both.
12. Mendez had transformation cutscene in the original. Now he comes out transformed.
13. The scene where Ganado Ambush Leon and Ashley and cornering them into the castle made much more sense.
14. The Garrador in the original was silent but you still anticipated something was wrong. Here he was active which made it less scary.
15. I don't think this Almost Fantast feeling Castle Wall section was scary.
16. That Novistador SFX of breaking a gate and then walking in the OG was scary.
17. Haven't mentioned it yet, but the removal of Cutscene QTEs also was scary. Except the Krauser one, I am glad it is gone.
18. In the OG, there was a scene where Ganados were performing a Ritual with You Are Dead Music playing in the background is removed.
19. The "Advanced Darkness" in the OG was better than "Full Darkness" of the Remake.
20. The Old Castle ruins was removed.
21. JJ was the least scariest of the minibosses in the original but somehow they made him even less scary.
22. The Whole set up of the Regenerators was perfect in the original. Here, it feels less scary. However, perfection can't be replicated.
23. In scene where Leon rescues Ashley for the last time, that was much much scarier in the original but is less scarier in the remake. The way he shruggs off the Bullets, that creepy smile, the way he slowly follows Leon and Ashley. It was very creepy.
24. And again, him opening his Mouth feels much more scary tha his speach about the Holy Body.
25. And the fight with Ada is quite possibly the scariest moment in the original. Now he feels less generic.
@@beingadeeb2345 work
The remake only LOOKS more realistic. It’s still got the goofy stuff from the original. It’s just been changed to be more scary
The story of Krauser is kind of sad when you think about it. In the first fight, he would not shut up about the failure of Operation Javier and how all his men except for Leon died. Then in the second fight he says that he is just doing this for power and how it is the only thing that matters in the world, but when fighting his mutated form he will still talk like the loss of his men was his main focus.
His want for power came from the feeling of being helpless and powerless to save his team in the jungle, coupled with his own PTSD. Saddler promised him that power he seeked in exchange for servatude. The parasite gave him the strength and power that he wanted, but it cost him his mind. So, by the time the last fight against Krauser happened the parasite started to turn his motivation to a more basic "I want power" motive.
The plaga suppressant made sense to me. It seems Saddler hired Sera to develop medication against the plaga infection so he could selectively bred a more resistant strain to their "weakness". Sera probably helped because after all the Umbrella shit he felt as though the least he could do is to find out what killed his grandfather and develop medication for it, not knowing Saddler was using him from the get go. So the "suppressant" could be the original cure to the plaga which is now less effective by Saddler's newest subordinate strain. Makes sense because Saddler would know full well modern medicine could easily find a cure to the parasite. Unlike the 1500's where they could have achieved world domination if not for the Salazar family. (which is why they have blue lanterns around the castle).
11:22 the tower was the easiest place to cheese the villagers fights. Maybe thats why they removed it
The only thing I really disagree with you on is re5 needs coop. It makes the game actually playable.
27:26 put some respect on Darkside Chronicles' name. It's the only time Capcom gave Code: Veronica some attention 10 yrs since it released (not counting that bizarre Gun Survivor sequel), and it might as well be the closest thing we'll ever have to an official Code:Veronica remake
29:16 also the game or at least Luis makes it clear that once the Plaga is fully matured, there is no cure. I dont think Leon putting them down is a sin, since basically everybody he encounters aside from the other key characters are just parasite zombies. How are they different from the TVirus ones back in Raccoon, they were already good as dead before Leon got there
Luis was aiming for Krauser's head. If the knife wasn't in the way, he wouldve hit Krauser

Game Sins RE4: They sent someone who doesn't speak spanish to Spain. SIN +1
Game Sins RE4 Remake: Leon knows spanish now, but it was better before. SIN +1
I cba.
Also laser attachment is still in the game.
"Ackchyually"
Why is such a techy guy like Luis using 100+ year old gun as his sidearm of choice? +1 sin
DC Douglas broke an NDA by sharing the concept art of Wesker from this game on his stream, and he may or may not be involved with pedophilia. So he more than likely won't be coming back for 5.
You forgot to mention how in the beginning of the game flash backs to Leon's training in boot camp with krauser, they let him keep his long hair.
Him having it as a cop is a stretch but boot camp? ya right, they definitely would have made him shave his head for that.
I miss having laser sights on every weapon excluding sniper rifles and the RPG
sin number #1 is him essentially saying that they kept all the core elements that made the game good and made improvements where they were needed lol
Here's a major sin I have with this remake, specifically in regards to aiming.
Because they removed the laser sight from most guns, Leon now has to rely on the same reticle aiming mechanics from RE2, the one where the longer you stood still when aiming, the tighter the focus on your reticle gets, but if you move you lose focus. It's takes the same amount of time as well.
This made sense in RE2 because your primary enemies in RE2 were the slow moving zombies (Also combat wasn't really the main focus in that game unlike in RE4), so the game rewarded your patience by making focused reticle shots more accurate and either do more damage or increased the chance of a critical headshot. This doesn't work in RE4 though because your primary enemies aren't slow moving zombies, but parasitic villagers and cultists who can move fast and attack you from all angles, which leaves little opportunity to line up your accuracy and shots.
This also creates two issues with the Ludonarrative Harmony of this remake, that being 1. That in between the events of RE2 and RE4 when Leon was undergoing government training (As well as going on missions as he mentions in the intro), his skills with firearms accuracy never improved from his rookie cop days, and 2. Leon Scott Kennedy, a guy who started out as a rookie cop then graduated into a highly trained government agent, has worse firearm skills than Ethan Winters, a systems engineer from Los Angeles.
In both RE7 and Village, whenever you aimed, especially with the handgun, the target reticle would immediately focus into a single dot on the screen with no delay. Ethan never had training in RE7 though, only in Village, as he was just a normal guy then, so the fact that Ethan's skills with firearms when he was just a normal guy is somehow much better than Leon's after he became a government agent is incredibly polarizing. What was he doing the past two years, you ask Krauser? Obviously not polishing up his firearm skills.
This goes to show just how bland and uninteresting REmake 4 Leon is compared to OG RE4 Leon, you'd think that someone who undergoes government training and also had trouble aiming his gun during his first day as a rookie cop surviving against the walking dead would be a lot more confident and prepared for this kind of mission, which OG RE4 Leon is. You can almost headcannon that the reason Leon got a laser sight for his gun in OG RE4 is because during the events of RE2, he realized how bad his aiming skills were.
Well put, thank you for that perspective I heard a lot of people complain about the aiming but I appreciate you explaining it well.
Ethan is a systems engineer? In Dead Space, Isaac Clark's official job title is 'systems engineer'. A 'ship systems engineer' to be more specific, but still.
Now I picture Ethan running around dismembering Lycans with a Plasma Cutter lol
I really don’t believe Capcom or any of the newer fans really understand how important that laser sight is to the original games. 🤷🏻♀️
@@vincentnugent9888 I’d agree with you there (as an older fan). I keep saying they should add it to the merchant’s upgrade shop or add another laser pointer that is compatible with more guns.
My favorite weapon is the punisher handgun and you can trade your spinels for the laser attachment to your handgun from the merchant.
Seriously there is nothing wrong with that game and I can’t stop playing it
I mean, removing the co-op from re5 would feel odd to say the least since you will have a worse Luis if you think about it. I say this because you pretty much had 8 free inventory spots that could carry healing, ammo, and grenades that the AIP (Artificial Intelligence Player) would almost never use except for certain ammos depending on what weapon you let them have, and healing when it was absolutely neccessary. The only way the extra inventory even existed was because of the co-op mechanic existing to begin with and removing that part will make it extremely difficult to manage a good inventory in the remake most likely. Although, I do have to agree that they need to bring back Wesker's og voice actor, or use the voice actor that BHVR used for DbD (Dead by Daylight) since I could not tell the difference when Wesker first came out as a killer in that game.
RE5 co op is hands down one of the best co ops in gaming.
That is only because very few games are coop.
Portal 2 and half life decay is what coop should be. Where the second player is actually actively required.
Anyone else loooooooove that the first sin now always takes over 3 minutes to get through? Trying to fit a whole review in your sins video lol my god Dart just do reviews too if you really want.
same here, why the first sin has to be such a long manifest?, it drags the pace and kinda ruins the fun of the "sins" video formula.
I like this method. It distinguishes itself from Cinema sins a little by showing he actually played the game and isn't just trying to gain cheap laughs or make comments that have nothing to do with the game.
Whilst not perfect, it's still trying.
@@Ajescent i guess so, its not like he is wrong, most of the time i agree but like op said, if dartigan wants to make a review, just make a review.
Its a hit or miss for me. I appreciate the review, but those moments are mainly used highlight the negative aspects of a game. Even if he sneaks in some positive remarks within them, they're so little and he beats you over the head with all the cons, it makes the game seem mored flawed that it actually is, which makes the review very bias. Not to mention he advertises his twitch streams constantly and encourages fans to watch him play the game he's going to sin, so we know he definitely plays. The big problem is that he fast tracks his playtime so he can keep with a schedule to release videos, which means he's purposfully not getting the full experience of the games he plays, which means he's puposefully setting up areas to criticize the games for even though those answers are probably laid out somewhere had he bothered looking.
Mostly right, but -1 for the "why is dynamite down there" at the forge. That place is within a massive tunnel of caves in a giant mine. Of course there's going to be random dynamite packs around. You even used one already in that area to clear a path. Totally understandable that some dynamite would end up in that forge.
Also -1 for Ashley helping by driving the wrecking ball being a women empowerment change. That part replaced the old ridiculous part where Ashley is driving a massive bulldozer while enemies constantly pile in the back for Leon to fight.
They just created a different construction vehicle for Ashley to control while Leon fights mobs piling in, resulting in a somewhat less silly activity, though not completely dissimilar to the old part.
Funfact: the Ramon statue has a dynamite weak point in the back!!
Remove a sun for radio jamming. You can 100% target frequencies. You can righty assume Ada and Krauser are on different frequencies than Leon. Hell, they may be on encrypted sat links given Umbrella’s technology.
Loved the remake but not gonna lie, started to play the original after I finished. It will still be the game I always go back to.
12.5 Why is Hunnigan in a unlit and empty room like she is working past closing hours? That place should be overcrowded with dozens of specialists on full alert.
22:05 you never heard of localized radio jamming? i'm betting they just jammed certain frequencies. (plus, Mendez was the only one to see Ada.)
Someone said it was the weather, but I said the same thing as you - even if it wasn’t the weather. Ugh.
Yeah, especially "back in the day" it might have been easier to jam frequencies?
