I think the overheating thing is a little over hyped. I have all Sony, full frame glass so I couldn't see stepping down to the FX30. Also I didn't like the noise tests comparing the FX30 to even other Super 30 cameras like the BM6k. I went with the ZV-E1 and so far no issues at all. I saw one review saying the camera shut down messing with the menu. My first night that thing was on for hours until the battery dropped while I set everything up. I recorded a 41min video inside at 72deg, 4k, 24 without issues. I also recorded a 21min interview outside in the direct sun, 74deg. Then immediately recorded about 5 min worth of slow motion b-roll at 4k 60fps. Zero issues so far and that is about the limit of what i have ever pushed my cameras to, for my channel. So I now have a low light beast with incredible ability to color grade. I moved away from APC 5 years ago. No reason to go back. I do think the ZV-E1 should have been $2k. With a fan then I can see $2200 to $2400. Now waiting on that 4k, 120 to drop!
Yes if you have full frame lens already than sure it’s definitely not worth to go back but imo you’ll be stupid to start off full frame. Like I’ve heard most reviewers say, the price for performance is not worth it an as a viewer, I doubt they’ll care about the difference.
I almost sold my fx3 to get the zv-e1 and the a6700 combo to have more variety with my A7IV, but I'm actually glad I didn't... It would be awesome to own an a6700 for wildlife, sport photography and maximize the range of my telephoto lenses, but I just don't think so there is any better combo than a FX3/A7IV for hybrid shooter like myself.
I recently purchased the Sony zve1 camera and I don't think there's a Sony camera thatI love more than this one for personal use. What you get in the small body is unmatched
@@POW.CREEPER I just got the ZVE-1 along with the 16-35mm f4 G. Very high quality lens that weighs next to nothing and is very small in size (compared to other wide angle lenses). Also very handy that you can use the zoom rocker on the camera since its a PowerZoom lens. For my needs as a content creator, its the perfect setup. :)

This makes so much sense! My dream camera is the FX3, but I just ordered the FX30 because of budget restrictions and I’m already regretting it because I really want a full sensor camera. I am an A and B roll content creator, not a vlogger or event photographer, so I think it would be wise to cancel the order, get the ZVE-1 and put my money into some full frame lenses that can also be used on an FX3, (or newer version in the future), when I’m able to upgrade. Hi there, i just read your comment and i got to say, there may have been misunderstanding information regarding sony fx30. I myself own a sony FX3 as Main Cam and FX30 as cam B...I mainly used them for weddings & events, especially in low light situation, and it works great. Sony FX30 is a great cam, even for crop sensor.. where images is downsampling from 6K to 4K. When you mention you are a content creator & a vlogger, FX30 is a budget cinema camera, same setting as FX3, you can do live stream directly from the camera itself. And if you want to vlog, get a Sony 11m 1.8 apsc lens, which is equivalent to 16mm in full frame, and it works great in low light. The only different that split the FX3 and FX30 is 1 is full frame, another one is crop sensor, 4K 120 1.5 factor crop in FX30 while 1.1 crop factor in FX3 4K 120. Thats it. You wont regret getting a FX30, trust me. Just pair it with 16-55mm 2.8 Sony G APSC lens.. which is equivalent to 24mm-82.5mm in full frame, and you are good to go.. There are a lot of youtuber cover FX30 which supports my theory. Please check out Jason Morris or Kensei Akatsu channel regarding FX30. Hope it helps out 😁
I’ve noticed the FX3 doesn’t suck in dust like the mirrorless alphas do my guess is that the EZ will suck in dust as well because unlike the FX3, it’s not Weather sealed. Sony FX3 has a weather-sealed magnesium-alloy chassis and shell that protects it from dust and inclement weather.
Been years, but I am back by chance! I got the ZV-E1. Still learning all the features and about interchangeable lenses. I sometimes forget why I picked it over the other cameras, but I know it will work. Some product review style stuff will happen, but short films are the main goal.
Yeah, I'm sticking with the Fujifilm X-H2s because I love that they do ongoing firmware updates for their cameras for years and although Sony has come a long way with their color science. Fujifilm has some juicy colors. They have been making film for a long time so they know their color. They have to make the ZV-E1 focus and stabilize well because of their intended audience. They will get bad if it doesn't do these things well since they're vloggers. It has to be an all in one package. Great video!
Anthony, yet another killer vid. Would love to hear your thoughts on the FX30 vs the ZVE1. I ended up going with the FX purely on budget, cost of glass and ability to grow with the camera. I need to do long form talking head content for work, including financing meetings over streaming platforms and feel this is a way better option for the risk...yes the over heating or shutting down scared me if it was an important media interview etc. So, if someone had budget restraints, would you still recommend the ZVE1 over the FX30 knowing the barrier to entry on lenses? I have been using three a6600s for interviews for the last 3 years and I've had them overheat handful of times. It's so annoying and I'm so excited that I have the FX30 and I'm looking forward to getting the FX3 to match. Overheating is dreadful for sure.

I want the E1 - I'm the target market: a noob that doesn't need the advanced functionality of the FX3, or even more basic professional functions like dual slots - but the overheating feels like a deal breaker for travel in hot countries. In remote places it's not as simple as going to the shop and upgrading to the FX3 if the E1 can't deliver... but it's such a big upfront premium just to avoid something that should never have been an issue.

Such a solid review. I've been watching so many videos about these cameras and yours is one of the best. I think it comes down to what type of filming you do. For weddings, narrative, and sets then you need something you can depend on and the FX3 seem to never fail. But for someone like me who do 80% run and gun shooting, traveling, and smaller intervals, the ZV-E1 makes way more sense because you get the same picture, but for a much cheaper price. Everyone keeps talking about the overheating issue, but I don't see it be too much of a problem in the way I shoot. The one thing I do wish the ZV-E1 had was more custom buttons as this is something I'm used to take advantage of as it speeds up my workflow a lot

I'm considering upgrading from my Sony a6400 to a full-frame camera, and I'm facing a dilemma: whether to spend more and get the FX3 or save money and go for the ZV-E1, getting pretty much the same image but with the remaining funds invested in more lenses, etc? I shoot a variety of content, from events to weddings, so my direction is quite diverse. I really want to upgrade and start to make more professional videos, but I’m kinda stuck between these two and don’t know what to choose.
At 10:13, it seems there's something really strange going on with artifacts or "warping" in from of her head. Is this a glitch in this case or something to expect from the camera in general ?

@@EleazarGray more because since the ZV-E1 is made of plastic instead of painted metal, it is harder to keep clean. Dirt seems to stay in better regardless of washing with the plastic body
A friend of mine offered to sell me the FX3 for $1800. Should I buy that or the ZV-E1? I do some product photography and shoot some video ads for the products.
I especially agree about Mini-HDMI v Micro-HDMI. Mini-HDMI is much stronger and easier to use, and the extra size saving using Micro-HDMI is not that big an advantage unless you are down to Go-Pro size devices. I still use Mini-HDMI on my old Canon camcorders. I might have that connection on some other cameras too, but I'm not remembering them at this moment.

I think they will put all the features including new computational photography features into a new body. Probably with the AI chip they already have, it would just make sense for them. If we look back, this is also the way they have done it in the past. rumors say a new FX body might come this year. Since nobody really knows we will just have to wait but I guess it would be an amazing camera.

Its crazy, they litteraly used the FX3 to shoot the intire movie "The Creator", movie looks amazing with colors and crystal clear.. So, 1) this camera is really insane or 2) they do some really hardcore post processing/color grading ect. The FX3 is on my wishlist for if i ever win the lottery lol

I own the ZV-E1 and I love it! Never had the overheating warning icon pop-up even when I did tests of 20mins recording in 4k24 or 4k60 (I don't see myself using my camera for a single clip for more than 20mins long).
Same here. I did a 45min indoor interview with it in 74 degrees, 4k 24 with no issues. I also did a 21min outdoor interview, 76 deg with the full afternoon sun beating down on the camera with no issues. I think the overheating issues are over rated but I guess we will see this summer. My friends a7iv overheated and shut down last summer in 25min.
@@runningintohistory yup. Only time will tell. 😂 I did an overheating test video on my channel where I recorded a 20min vlog at 4k24 under the Philippine sun at 91 degrees (Realfeel Sun is at 106 degrees) and no warning icon whatsoever.
I shoot outdoors i use fx30 never have a overheating issue ill still buy another fx30 over the zve1 as a professional. All these creators are doing is advertising/ working selling cameras there going to say the something about the next camera and sh#t on the zve1😂 I’ll only buy this for RUclips content. I also did a 21min outdoor interview, 76 deg with the full afternoon sun beating down on the camera with no issues. I think the overheating issues are over rated but I guess we will see this summer. My friends a7iv overheated and shut down last summer in 25min.

@@runningintohistory yup. Only time will tell. 😂 I did an overheating test video on my channel where I recorded a 20min vlog at 4k24 under the Philippine sun at 91 degrees (Realfeel Sun is at 106 degrees) and no warning icon whatsoever.

I shoot outdoors i use fx30 never have a overheating issue ill still buy another fx30 over the zve1 as a professional. All these creators are doing is advertising/ working selling cameras there going to say the something about the next camera and sh#t on the zve1😂 I’ll only buy this for RUclips content. i dont have alot money to spend all the time bruh..so i decided to just go for the big fish once and for all and not worry about it ... fx3 was my choice to long time usage... till the mark 2 comes out om on that as well ... no time to think about over heating for me
