Being a union member I can tell you that there was a period where the unions were overreaching in their demands. I can also tell you that is no longer the case. We want to make a living and to be able to support our families. Somehow conservatives have painted union as wanting too much and making the US anti-competitive in the world; that average worker salaries should not be based on a minimum amount, but the lowest amount a manufacturer can get away with paying - while still giving bailouts and low interest loans to corporations and the wealthy that far exceed that of all those workers combined. We need to change people's minds about what unions are and what they actually do for the common worker.

I'm not anti union by any stretch of the imagination, but I find your first sentence and fourth sentence to be kind of weirdly out of touch with your points. Unions went too far but conservatives painted them in his light somehow? Sounds like unions did that on their own, or at least gave conservatives the ammunition necessary to make the argument. To be fair to your argument, I am sure conservatives didn't provide a nice nuanced and balanced approach to this and didn't overexaggerate anything at all, surely not, but unions kind of did this to themselves and if they are getting back to more real "for the worker" negotiations then great, but like Tim Ryan pointed out, perception changes slowly. It is going to take time to rebuild that reputation after decades of corruption and focuses on politician lobbying by union leaders and heads.

Not correct on that second part, because unlike republicans, the Democratic party has actually proven it can walk and chew gum at the same time to be able to try to help ALL of the demographics you've just listed (minorities. diversity, working class, etc).
Just because the republican party wants to make everything an either/or "win" scenario in SUPPOSED favor of their voting base over their opposition doesn't mean it's automatically a "both sides are just as bad" situation that means Democrats do the same thing.

Religious people are less likely to divorce as they view marriage a lot more seriously. Knowing divorced people increases your odds of getting divorced by 33-75%. I would think that if you didn’t want to work somewhere that has higher wages, better benefits, and pay union dues then go work somewhere with lower wages where you don’t have to pay dues. When things like that happen members should be getting involved and fighting to make change vs leaving to go somewhere else. It is discouraging when those things happen but won’t change until members make their elected representatives more accountable for how they represent.
At some point it was bad enough in the shop for people to come together and vote to become union, pretty much the same way they can vote to become non-union.
Unfortunately when people start feeling like it isn’t worth being union is because they forgot what they fought to improve or weren’t there to fight for it in the first place.

Unions were fine when they performed a positive service, but a lot of large unions nowadays are merely supplementing their necessity by bringing strike actions for more pay and benefits, instead of realizing that the high prices of labor is the main reason that large corporations have LEFT the US for cheaper labor. It's a fact that companies are in business to make a profit and if they don't, then why be in business. That doesn't mean they can run amuck over workers, but there are plenty of non-unionized companies that pay a good to great wage. I regretted seeing the union come in to the company I was working for because I took a $1.60 an hour pay CUT, not an increase!

If a business is taking good care of their employees they should never have to worry about fighting off unions because it takes majority support to organize. If a majority of the workforce are not happy, is it always the workers? Or is it the employer?

The cost of living is the problem not wages. Who controls the costs of living? Wall Street. Once Wall Street drives up prices, that gives a greenlight to privately held companies to do the same until it saturates the whole economy.

Just last week a bunch of Google contractors made a union in Texas and demanded better conditions from Google. Google just laid off the entire team… Ironically while they were speaking publicly about how great they all did for forming a union to “speak truth to power”. … Well you spoke to power and power spoke back… Don’t get mad when it says something you don’t like. Everyone in the west has a consensual relationship with their employers, they don’t owe you a job and you don’t owe them your value. If you don’t like it, market your value somewhere else. I guess this is what happens when education changes focus from value to emotion.

I think it’s easy to extrapolate that couples have less emotional variables that threaten the relationship like a poly relationship would have. Threesomes are fun experiences but they are not sustainable relationships no matter what anyone’s denial tells them

In Germany we have a thing called "workers council" that is mandatory to be formed for every bigger company. It is like an incompany mini union. The lawmaker tells the companies how that council is elected and what rights and say it got. It is not a full union and it doesnt block unionmembership for the workers.
