- Director Francis Ford Coppola joined actors Al Pacino and Robert De Niro celebrate the 50 years of their iconic film "The Godfather" on stage at the 2022 Oscars.
I cannot believe people only talking about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock. This is legendary, and should be the epicenter of the Oscar. But…
It certainly should have been. But then Will Smith has to be a "real man"...a sudden, "tough guy" as he turned and saw that his wife wasn't amused by an EXTREMELY mild joke made at her expense. The whole thing was an absolute embarrassment and Will Smith's "pretend-to-be-tough-guy" his, "defend-his-wife-at-any-cost" ended up being a self-serving moment that blew the wind out of every Oscar winner that night. Disgusting.

You have to remember we have two adult generations now that dont really know who these men are. It sucks to get older and our stuff is not as relevant anymore but its the truth....

Nah. I’m 16 and I feel like everyone kinda knows the godfather. Although a lot of people my age have never seen it, they know of the movie. It’s iconic.

At 50 years of its release, The Godfather is still one of the greatest movies ever made, thanks to this movie, two stars were born "Robert De Niro & Al Pacino" + Francis who was the film director. Thank you academy for reuniting them again, Marlon Brando would be proud be of this homage, if he were alive.

I felt the same way. What an absolute embarrassment. And particularly offensive to Francis Ford Coppola's father, Carmine who wrote the original Godfather theme music. Just disgusting!!

And they shouldn't have spliced up iconic scenes to hip hop, in some failed attempt to seem cool and trendy. Just use the original score from the film which is as iconic as the film itself.

Pacino doing the double hit in the restaurant is for me the greatest scene in any movie.
The scene where he moves his father to the other room at the hospital is incredible too.
You have to relaize that the "Godfather" was made to teach the writers and the families of writers about life

It was great to see them at all. They have already lived into fairly old ages. Some people don't even make it into their 40's and 50's.

Coppola was a very well-organized director. And he didn't allow Pacino or De Niro to say one word.
No, sir. Pacino and De Niro know their exact place. Without Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola, there would be no Godfather Trilogy, and no Michael Corleone and Young Vito.
Pretty sure neither Pacino nor DeNiro wanted to do much talking, if any at all. Especially DeNiro who's infamous for being introverted and not talkative.

Huh, no mention of Marlon. Nice.. Even tho De Niro, Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, and Jack Nicholson (besides many others) named him the best actor.. 50th-anniversary speech without saying the name of Marlon.. At least it was nice to see in some eyes that they truly appreciate them.
Damn shame they blew the film collage by bringing in diddyes music that does not belong there. But wow what a moment when Godfather music theme came and those 3 legends came unto the stage.

Notice how al Pacino isl never going into politics ? Even with Ukraine. I'm sure he is for it, he just doesn't want to insult the ppl there fighting actually, because he is just an actor. That s why he is an amazing person n prolly the best actor. Definitely the most consistent for over 50 years . Also he is so humble and you can see he knows his value but doesn't act like a royalty or some superstar or snobbish.
