Hello GINX [ @ginxmediaproductions ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me.
Welcome [ BACK ] to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.
I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol "
For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community

    Hello GINX
Nightwish Army reporting from the Netherlands.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish.
    They are from Finland.
    And they make Symphonic Metal.
What you've heard here is just the tip of what this band can do.
Nightwish really hits you in your heart.
And that's what makes this band so unique.
Her name is Floor Jansen and she is Dutch.
    There were 82,000 people there.
I happily refer you to Gabriel Bardac's comment (he'll be here soon) for a list with lots of song suggestion.

You just heard Floor Jansen who is the 3rd and current singer of Nightwish. Tarja Turunen 1997-2005, Anette Olzen 2005-2012, Floor took over late 2012 and had only been with the band for 10 months when this festival took place. Not sure how long ago you heard Nightwish so it could have been with one of the other singers. Floors previous bands were After Forever 1997-2009, Revamp 2009-2016 (sort of). Check out Romanticide next from the same concert at Wacken (Vahkan). Trivia, Wacken is a German town of 2000 people who get invaded by 80,000+ metal fans for 4 days a year.

Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she
got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power
    of her vocals.
We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard.

@GINX Media: As an audio engineer, you should know that this performance not only is the most viewed on the internet, but that the entire Nightwish Wacken 2013 concert is considered by many, including me, to be the best concert ever recorded. For whatever reason, the sound balance was so good, you could not get a more perfect balance if you tried. And, Nightwish was the headlining band on Day 4 of the Wacken festival in 2013, so this concert was the last concert of the festival.
Put it this way: If a concert needed a solar alignment with the planets, Nightwish certainly got that at Wacken 2013.

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’.
Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera).
'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’.
Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’
Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see.
Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on RUclips. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered RUclips in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish.
Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turns 7 years next march) and Lucy (born last october) ,a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.

Ah... an audio Engr, or Tech? I missed that part.
(a)As far as setups for the band on stage, I believe there is a YT video by 'Gear Gods Rigged' (YT= 6dhSkfbHXJc) where the Nightwish stage crew goes over the setup for each member... not so much the layout of the stage, but a very high-level intro in to the gear and the signal chain.
    (b) As for the song structure and how it relates to the sonic production, here's one minor point : when the singer (Floor) is doing the more verse-like story telling portion, notice how the instruments that might compete with her vocal range (mostly the distorted guitar pull WAY BACK, allowing her free-reign in the 300-800 Hz spectrum
The bass runs far below her range, and the keys are pulled back-but-present frequently in the 600-n-up range.
When Floor shifts to the more powerful, legato lines, then the guitar comes in with a simple rhythmic part... not busy, not competing for the ear's attention.
    (c) Next one? Without forcing you down a rabbithole?
Well.. why don't you see how the concert *started* ?
Try "Dark Chest of Wonders" from the same Wacken concert ("VAH-kehn"...it's German)
From a guy who helped build 6 figure pipe organ bitd, who worked on sub-human-audio-range frequencies (2-12 Hz while working on the first AED), who hellped create simulators/design software from Full Custom IC's the analyzing noise on circuit boards to designing less-electrically-noisy bits of electronic kit... and them folded up that career and became a dentist/full-time-faculty/then-small-time-rural dentist.
Take it from me... this IS one rabbithole worth investigating.

    What you should do:
    Listen to Gabriel.
    He knows.
Great Reaction !! I think our Queen captured another soul….:-)
It never gets old to see people freeze when our Queen starts to sing….
    About Ghost Love Score:
Standing solid as a World Pillar around which the planet revolves, Floor hits "The Note," the crowd loses their shit, the band tears a hole in the fabric of Space-Time, and 82,000 people will never, ever be the same again.
Floor Jansen, First of Her Name, Queen of the Valkyries and Stonehenge, Lady of Nightwish and Protector of our Metal Realm. Long may she reign. Bow, mortal !

You talked about the energy exchange between the band and the crowd. For the band this was the 13th song of a 15 song set, for the crowd this was the last band of a four day metal festival. The energy level is remarkable.
For another Nightwish performance with an unbelievable energy exchange, check out I Want My Tears Back live at Buenos Aires in 2018. The band and the crowd get into a feedback loop where the energy just keeps magnifying.

Wacken Open Air in 2013 had 82,000+ people at the NW concert. That's quite a feat given that Wacken, Germany has a population of 9000 (who can each get free tickets to the WOA festival). Also, WOA sells out the NW concert a year in advance. I was fortunate to get my tickets early. Here's the thing - Floor was not the singer when I purchased my tickets. Anette Olzon was the lead singer for NW. Floor was hired after NW fired Anette in October (I think) 2012 to finish the tour through 2013 as a temporary singer. Many people at WOA weren't aware of what she'd sound like with NW. We were pleased and she pleased the band quickly. It pleased the public when she was publicly announced as a member.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. I am an old guy (76) who only recently found Nightwish. Yeah, I grew up with all the rock. Follow Gabriel's list, you can't go wrong with it. Former electrician and stage tech. Worked on an auditorium, in the 80's, as an electrician and pulled mike lines for 50-60 units in that place. They also had sound studios in it and a recording studio. My bucket list is to see a Nightwish concert live.

Wacken is said "Vacken" - it's in Germany. What Gabriel said! (What Ann said) Nightwish Army, Blue Mountains Corps, Australia. Nightwish since 1996. edit: Marko, playing bass, was also responsible for much of the sound quality! p.p.s. I am so glad that Ville Lipiainen has recorded their concerts for our enjoyment - imagine the stuff he has which we have not yet seen!!?

Lovely reaction! It was interesting hearing you talk about the audio engineering because, while everyone acknowledges the musicianship, what helps make this one of the greatest concert DVDs ever is the more behind-the-scenes work: videography, lighting, pyro, mixing, and yes, audio engineering. Welcome back to Nightwish!

Hi JINX (I’ll just call you JINX, may I?), I absolutely loved your reaction for multiple reasons. Given the very brief insight of your background I’m pleased to know that you’re not just making shit up. You know what you’re talking about. This is the first time I heard someone not just talking about the energy of Jukka, Nightwish’s drummer at the time, but you were focused on the sound! That’s a first. I’m ashamed to admit that I became addicted to reaction videos, which still amazes me, because it’s a ridiculous concept, but because of that fact I must have seen at least a thousand reactions on this video alone (I loosely calculated an average of 1 Ghost Love Score reaction video per day since the beginning of 2021 - I can’t help myself).
You seem like a genuinely sweet, yet no BS woman with the brightest and most infectious smile and your eyes reflect honesty, integrity, intelligence, wit, an open mind and a pure heart.
I’m sure the Nightwish army will welcome you with open arms.
I’m probably not their biggest fan, given the fact that I don’t necessarily love literally everything they’ve done, but they’re up there. It’s telling that it’s hard to find favorites among all of their songs, because most of them are so good and only a tiny handful of them are… well, less good (in my own personal and meaningless opinion).
Not everyone would agree, but to me a good Nightwish song, belonging to the very best, needs to have two conditions: 1) by preference it should be recorded live under the best circumstances and 2) if it’s not sung by Floor Jansen it won’t move me (at least not in a good way). AND PLEASE DON’T KILL ME, my fellow Nightwish lovers. 😬
If I really had to pick a favorite (this is hard, so I’ll pick three), it would probably be:
1- Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean (live in Buenos Aires 2018).
2- Yours is an empty hope (Wembley 2015)
3- Song of Myself (Wacken 2013 … however, if you like poetry, there’s also a video of the same concert, followed by more music written by Tuomas, the composer of most of their music, and some great poetry. It IS part of the music - a lot of Nightwish fans would appreciate this version, since only a few of them ever reacted to it, even though the ‘song part’ is exactly the same.
    Well…, that’s about it.
I just thought “a long reaction video deserves long responses”. 😬
    Sorry for that! ❤😊

Welcome. I love sound engineers. I once trained at a Polytechnic in Greymouth New Zealand called Tai Poutini Polytechnic as an Audio Engineer and i use to play in a band at the local pubs there. I use to be the lighting tech for other bands over in Christchurch but never worked at something at this scale. What an experience. Sounds like you've had a way cool background. When i trained M.I.D.I. was still quite new and we used reel to reel and cassettes Lol. Quantising lol get that wrong and you may get a double beat on the keyboard. I was only trained on an old 64 Track recorder and i remember the first time i used Pan and realized that's how i can create Stereo lol. But this was when i was 21 about 29 years ago. I love this band Thank you.

I was a sound engineer for 20 years myself. I experienced a lot of music. But this.....this beats it all. The band, the voice, the stage performance, the energy exchange, the precision, the sound quality ( live!!!!!), the emotion, and so on and so on. Absolutely THE best live performance of all times. Period. Check out everything from Nightwish. It's not just music. It is a way of life. And mixes that with another project including Floor Jansen: Ayreon from Dutch composer Arjen Lucassen. That will blow you away as well. ( For a sound engineer " the day the world breaks down" is a nice starter. Arjen tells a lot about the underlying techniques in a video with comments). Both Nightwish and Ayreon will blow you away. It is the top of contemporary music.

    The transitions from styles.
Floors soft velvety voice, the guitarist, Emppu having a swig...
The Drums EQ and settings! Happy tone.
Soft choir, the woodwinds, drummer comes back on, off we go again.
Then the use of brief quiet sections, yummy.
Floor changes gear with her voice, ramping it up.
Cinematic, a movie score... Hans Zimmer is a favourite with band members.

Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia reporting in ! 6'1'' Dutch Valkyrie Goddess spotted ! Gabriel Bardac entered !
This is called Symphonic Metal and one of the Titans of that genere !!!
Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora.
Floor Jansen (third and current singer) is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy.
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6).
She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉.
Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.
And the master of this magic is:
Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish)
Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot.
This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people (one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world and one of the largest open-air festivals in Germany). The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival.
We hope, that there is more coming.
    NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

A few informations about Wacken: It's a small village in Northern Germany with less than 2000 inhabitants. Once per year in August the Wacken Open Air is held there, the largest annual Open Air Metal festival in the world - the whole village gets involved in the festival. In the early days some of the older people where opposed to the festival but by now pretty much everyone supports it and is proud of the festival.
The flaming Bull head you see in the video is not related to Nightwish specifically, the bull head is the logo of the Wacken open Air.
Speaking of pronounciation - W is pronounced like you'd pronounce a V (while a V in German is pronounced like you'd pronounce a softer spoken F and the F in German is just a little harsher F in American English). As for the A...think about pronouncing it like you'd pronounce it in words like car.

Hi there, I loved your reaction!
Nightwish is my absolute favorite band and it makes me so happy every time I see a new reactor find, or in tour case rediscover Nightwish.
This song is special and it is a true wirk of art. I can’t listen to it without getting goosebumps all over my body and have tears building up in my eyes. It is so amazingly beautiful that it’s just to much to handle but in a good way.
I actually saw them live a couple of years ago and that experience was out of this world. They are by far the best live act I have seen.
And the end note of this song has pure magic! There is something special about that note and how she does it. And even though she does it a little differently every time it always gets the same result, goosebumps, tears and without breath.
If I were to recommend something it would be their cover of Phantom of the opera from Amsterdam 2022, becuase that’s from the show I was at.
If you want another band to watch I recommend Sabaton and their song Christmas Truce.
They are a swediah metal band that does songs about war history. This song is about an unofficial truce that took place during the first world war.
There is a Nightwish connection aswell becuase the drummer is married to ghetto wonderful singer you just listened to.
And be sure to watch the ending and see if you can apot the hidden suprise. Just listen closely.
    Have a nice day!

When I was 16, I tried crowdsurfing for the first time... an experience that will always remain in my memory. ... I learned that a mini skirt really shouldn't be the clothes of choice. 😅
But if you wear trousers as a girl and can keep your body tension, then it's a great experience.
