Tuomas, the Keyboardist, is the brains behind the whole band. He was the one who put the band together back in 1996, and he also composes about 95% of their music as a whole.
I believe Symphonic Metal is one of the greatest things to happen in music, if not THE best (when it is done well). And Floor Jansen is the best thing to happen to Symphonic Metal.
I have yet to see someone comment on the fact that Floor leaves the stage to give room to Empuu for his solo, to make sure that HE is the hero as she is so charismatic and magnetic. She does this on a regular basis to let the others shine, and this makes me happy as it shows true respect for each other.

Floor sings like ordering a burger on Sunday. Not effort at all, is like nothing for her.

What a combo you two make, I love how when Floor began singing, dad got goose bumps and the young lady eyes went wide...Floor is truly something else there's no one else like her and she's so sweet and humble, once she's on stage though the goddess comes out. 😂💜

No matter the gender, Floor is making heads turn and hearts explode...
At this point, Floor was a "fill-in". The full time singer was in the hospital but they had shows to do. Floor was called and filled in on 48 hours notice. This was a little past that first moment, but STILL. To this day the woman blows my skull to pieces, and it's even better to see a dad and his daughter have this kind of amazing relationship together. I have two stepdaughters, both adults now, and I'm so glad to have that kind of connection with them. I don't have kids, but i have kids, yanno?
That was 2012, by the 2013 Wacken she was all in.

Floor absolutely has the crowd in the palm of her hand. Its amazing. Someone mentioned Freddy Mercury level..that is a great comparison. Her stage presence is awesome...the fact she is six foot plus and dress like a viking queen doesnt hurt. I love her, she is so fkn talented. Great band, great reaction.

From Norway here. I grew up listening to Nightwish when Tarja was the vocalist... it's always been an amazing band. But Yeah.... Floor just Floors me. She's been involved in many other projects... especially her work on Ayreon is amazing.

You're right about the operatic style. I knew Floor when she was still studying and when she sang in local bars, it was very much that style. Throughout the years she really trained her voice to different styles and even became a vocal coach, and after her first band even went solo before joining Nightwish. We had drinks/dinner lots of times and she's really nice and deserves every bit of success she has from her music.

Floor's greatest strength is how she changes effortlessly between drastically different style of singing. She can have single notes back to back in a sliding scale of styles, just moving from one to the next like it is... nothing.

Ghost Love Score was just the intro to this experience, the flagships (for me at least) are ''Song of Myself - Wacken'' , ''The Poet and The Pendulum - Webmley'' and ''The Greatest Show on Earth - Tampere'', all live perfomances (the best way to watch). Thoumas(keyboardist) is the one that writes 95% of their songs, Marco (bass) joined 2002, Emppu(guitarist), Jukka(drums) had to step down do to some health issues in 2015 and replaced by Kai which plays drums with Wintersun also,Troy(multi instruments) 2015, 3 singers first was Tarja operatic vocals(1996-2005) 2nd Annette poppy vocals( 2006-2012) 3rd Floor as you saw she can do anything (2012- )
All their songs are best live not saying that studio is bad but they're mire of a touring band... other bands try Epica( Floor sings couple songs with them which are great) Within Tempation list can go on lol

Yup, Valkyrie Goddess was the first thing that came to mind after watching this performance as my introduction to Nightwish. Xena and Floor would either be the greatest of friends, or the worst of enemies. :D I love how she was dressed like Xena :)

This awesome combination was invented By them in 1996 in Kitee Finland. Nightwish started with four members Tuomas, Jukka, Emppu and Tarja as vocalist. I found them mainly because of the vocals in 1998. That was Nighwisgasm already back then. Tuomas is the master of making these -gasms. Check also the earlier concerts they are even more awesome from year 2000 for instance and learn to know this band and members so you can analyse much more than mainly vocals because they make total masterpiece performances and art on the stage as a group.
Phantom of the Opera live from end of an era from 2005 with their first singer Tarja Turunen. ANOTHER MUST SEE!

Definitely Romanticide, since that's one of the best ones to have Marco and Floor handing vocals off to each other (and it has Floor going all the way up to a D6). Also the live version of Yours Is An Empty Hope from the 2015 cruise to get Floor's low fry on the chorus. When your soprano is singing under your tenor, it's an interesting effect.
The first vocalist Tarja is also exceptionally good, Anette Olzon was not bad by any stretch off the imagination. But with Floor Jansen Nightwish really took it to the next level. You can also listen to Within Temptation and Epica if you like Nightwish.
Anette was just too different. Too much of a change in direction. As an entener and a singer though she was still very, very good.
@@gerardmontgomery280 all three are classical sopranos,so yeah, they're great. Annette just wasn't lucky - although the songs that were written for her voice were actually pretty good. Floor is the most Nightwish though, even more than Tarja, she's more a part of a whole

Before you react to The Poet and The Pendulum, research the song and it's origin. The keyboardist writes almost all of the music and that song was from his heart.
Couldn't agree more with you. Knowing the backstory of The Poet and the Pendulum, along with having the lyrics handy, takes it to another level.
Tuomas pretty much writes all of Nightwish. Plus some of the band members help on some songs
Basically this song is the songwriter committing suicide on paper so that he did not do it in real life. The band went through a very bad time during the break up with their first singer back in 2005. It would be a great song for you guys to do.
Good reaction. Hope you do more from them. I can tell you something, Tarja Turunen, their first, original vocalist, was full opera style all the way, in all songs, she was amazing with them ( and she is still great solo ), but floor is more varied. She sings like this or she can be more rock and roll style, she can even do some growling, but fortunately they don't use that style much. Well you can have a great ride if you keep listening to this band. I would love to see more reactios from you. The Nightwish army is already here with you, so they will recommend lots of songs. You talked about the other singers: you have to listen to The Phantom of the Opera ( live End of an Era ) or Slaying the dreamer. The second vocalist is a little bit difficult to find live but you can try the video clips, some of them like Amaranth or Bye bye beautiful.

@@Fucklesticks Funny, because it's only like 4 minutes longer than Ghost Love Score. Long Nightwish songs are composed the way you don't really feel that lenght, they just flow, so many things are happening there.

You guys officially had your first 'Floor-gasm'. We've all been there. Floor Jansen's voice and vocal range are absolutely AMAZING. Not only was Floor Jansen Classically trained, but she's also been a voice teacher/vocal coach herself in the past.

I had a suggestion for another reaction video.
You guys should do a reaction video to Take Hold of the Flame (Live in Tokyo 1984 version) by Queensryche.
Like Floor Jansen, Geoff Tate was also Classically trained. What made Geoff Tate's vocals amazing was the fact that his NATURAL vocal range is that of a Baritone (about mid-range if I remember correctly), yet due to years of study and practice and training Geoff Tate extended his vocal range up to that of a Tenor. And Geoff Tate hit the high notes like G and E5 while STILL in normal Head Voice and NOT in Falsetto.
But regardless, GREAT reaction video to this song.

Great reaction. a little FYI: Enya is Irish, but I can see your point, though I feel that Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards, composer) is touched by genius and puts Nightwish on a whole other level to most of what is out today. Add in the sheer talent and dynamic of everyone else in the band and throw in Floor's Stellar vocals, and well, we've got something special.

I have watched many reactions to this song and 95% have been blown away right from the start. The first time I ever listened to this song was this live versión in Wacken and I was hooked right away. Tarja Turunen (their first vocalist) was the ringer that recorded the studio/álbum version of this song. If I am not mistaken, Floor joined the band while they were on this tour, so she did more than an amazing job. This is my favorite live performance of this song. Thanks for reading the lyrics (I think you are the first that did so). You make a great combo and I appreciate your wonderful comments. Yes, I also wish I had atended that concert.

Tarja was operatic but Floor can compete with her and o way more, Annette was poppy voice nowhere close to Tarja and so far away from Floor not even in the same breathe. Romanticide same concert, Poet and the Pendulum Wembley, The Greatest Show on Earth live at Tampere on and on she will send shivers down your spine.
Dutch person here, Floor is just pronounced Floor! I love y’all’s reaction!! Floor is amazing!!! idk if you’ve seen her perform on Beste Zangers but she did a lot of different stuff on there (all covers) in German, English, Dutch and Spanish!!

Only the last note we fans call the "Floorgasm" , but I never stop to thinking that the full song is "Floorgastic" , this song is from the first singer but Floor give so much Passion and so much variety in this song, and this last note was not in the studio version, so we fans are so gratefully to Floor for her bring the "Floorgasm" to us!

I feel like a jerk to say it, but Tarja's voice got lost in the musical crescendo at the end of GLS. Floor matches the musical crescendo and owns it.
Floor is an opera singer. As was tarja. Nightwish was founded as a symphonic metal band, which is the marrying of heavy metal and opera. Where is the conversation about the The beautiful heart rending poetry by Tuomas? “We used to swim in the same moonlight waters/ oceans away from the wakeful day,” the band was tearing itself apart and Tuomas was making a plea to come together in the most profound way he could, a beautiful song that they would play night after night. Each performance a reminder that he loves them and to please stop, only to have it fail. And the lament of bye bye beautiful on their next album.
Yes, floor and the band are amazing, but so is the poetry.

Nightwish are the best symph metal band around given floorgasms all over the world :) But there are tons of Symphonic Metal bands (some more symphonic then others) out there for you to discover. Epica, Within Temptation, After Forever (old band of Floor Jansen) , Leaves' Eyes, Midnattsol, Sirenia, Xandria, Delain,... And this are only bands with female vocalists XD And I must suggest 3 special bands: Therion, Haggard and Apocalyptica. Have fun exploring :)
