Finally, HONEST vocal coaches and not fake ones who will say anything the radical fans want to hear just to earn some new subscribers. You have earned my respect \m/ Nightwish is an incredible band that tends to send shivers to the hearts of their fans. The passion can easily turn ugly into borderline religious extremism, hence the dislike ratio of this video. Floor is a phenomenal singer, but fans need to expand their horizons and realize that ALL the Nightwish singers, including Marko and Tarja, as amazing as they are, are still merely a speck of dust in the universe of talents. As for Floor's performance in this video. Her strengths are her incredible belts. As for the rest and her versatility, it's nothing unique really. Marcela Bovio, Britney Slays, Fabienne Erni, Marta Gabriel, Melissa Bonny, Cassanda Novell, Helena Michaelsen. They do everything Floor does, some even better. It's all just a matter of exposure. And before everyone starts bashing me and the reactioners, keep in mind, Floor has said it numerous times already in her streams that she is sick and tired of "fake vocal coaches" who never gives any criticism but only praise without any substance. She would appreciate this above 99 % of all other GLS videos out there, take that to heed before you unleash your hate and call yourself a true fan.
This is great example of you own self important reasoning, to underweight the performance of another to further your own self indulgent importance. And the the fact that you tried to head off unpositive remarks. That you go to the point of pinning a couple remarks supporting your opinion. Is it so hard for you to listen to. Without trying to build your self as the grand Superior voice's. When it is the ones you are revoking who are the ones that have achieved the actual accomplishments. I guess you are both woke.
@@zoolooz2327 that's true. But in that case they should also not make any presumptions (like the one Cobalt mentioned) since they have no clue about it.
How can you have a clue about anything when you react blind....you just say whatever you feel on the spot. sometimes you're right sometimes you're wrong. That's why 90% of the reaction chanels don't do blind reactions but fake it. I prefer a guenuine reaction even if they assume something wrong than a fake one prefectly prepared just to avoid comment bashing and please the army.
@@zoolooz2327 i fully agree with you. But then stick to what you hear at that very first moment, do not compare with things you have heard many times before and do not comment on why or who or what the song is for. And when you dó, please mention that you have no clue since this is your first reaction.
Dude, nobody is saying Floor was a song writer. Dimash was singing other bands material, so that includes him. The main thing is Floor replaced Tarja as the new lead singer of a very well established band and she has definitely succeeded in keeping the band at a high level by contributing with her powerful and graceful voice, what more can one ask for? Your point is mute and weak! Nightwish continues to move on with Floor. BTW, you should listen to the latest album (Human II Nature) and see how power her voice is as it was done in 2020 with her as the lead singer. It was another successful album release by Nightwish.
Floor Jansen is a Dutch singer, singing in a Finnish band and she lives with her Swedish husband and their daughter Freja in Sweden. Floor speaks multiple languages and allready has song in 7 different languges. She is also a vocal coach for over 20 years. She belongs to one of the most versetile singers in the world.
@@ChaseandMelia You are literally the first "Voice Coaches" to say that Floor has less stability, loses clarity or have any sort of breath control issues whatsoever. Since almost everyone that has any knowledge of singing, one of the first things they mention about Floor is her amazing breath control coupled with the ability to technically switch seamlessly between styles. Now maybe I misunderstood what you were saying, which is possible but seeing has this song here is one of the most viewed reactions and the most viewed Nightwish reactions, that says something. I am discounting those who have no knowledge of singing or say untrue things just to stir up the Nightwish army. "Reaction Trolls"
Greatest all round vocalist ever she can sing anything any type, her range is extraordinary no one else can rock, contemporary, opera, pop, classical etc etc etc
You mentioned about them writing this song for her, no songs at this concert were written with her in mind. These were all written for two previous singers. She came in to sing with them mid tour to substitute for their vocalist at the time, not becoming an official member until much later on.
They could have read a lot more about the music background information of this band and singer. I dont understand the 3500 upvotes. Indeed, songs were not written for Floor and she still nails it
True, but she was not chosen because her voice and style did not fit the existing reportuire either. The style is her own, it is different, but it's still also much the same. The music was written for this type of performance in mind.
Hello Chase and Melia ! Nightwish fans here, your musical quest summoned us. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of a 82k audience. Also a recent sad news - these days Marco Hietala, the bass player and male singer of the band, announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. As I saw, you enjoyed the powerful performance of the band, together with the stellar vocals of our Dutch metal queen, Floor Jansen. Hope you'll continue on this path. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. @Gabriel Bardac thanks for all the info!! We’re excited to enter the world of Nightwish and we really appreciate all of your knowledge and recommendations! We had no idea she was not the first singer for the band, that’s really interesting to know and we’re excited to see the difference between them! We’re looking forward to reacting to more Nightwish, hope you enjoy as well!
And that’s something I really appreciate. Floor is a very impressive singer, with amazing versatility, perfect technique and out of this world breath control. But- she doesn’t show off. She sings to serve the song and the story. It’s not all about her, and she knows it. It’s about the song. I honestly find the singers who go all out to show off and impress people to be quite frustrating and annoying- it takes away from the story. We’ve all heard vocal gymnastics before. I want solid technique that serves the story. I don’t want to hear some narcissist that makes it all about them.
yeah alot of people are used to dimash thing which is just a singing show off (don't get me wrong he is incredible) but playing good music in a good band is different
Agreed. Even when you listen to the entire 2013 Wachen concert, or the others in Buenos Aires or Wembley, Floor will still surprise you with her diversity when you listen to her selections on Beste Zangers show. Empoo and others are great example of playing what the music requires. They don't show off their abilities in every song. You have to look at their body of work to understand what they are capable of.
Floor is herself a vocal coach as well as a perfectionist. She knows what she's doing. Watch her own reaction on her channel to performing this, her favourite song. The whole Nightwish Wacken 2013 concert is considered a symphonic metal master class, lyrically, musically, vocally and technically. "An easy song to sing?" lol ... Singing isn't just belting out octaves. Stage presence, story telling, being empathic towards your fans, making a song your own. I miss those qualities with a lot of other artists.
Not only that, it was the 13th song of the setlist. The whole concert was 15 songs and she had been singing, dancing, windmilling and entertaining people for about 80 minutes at the start of that song. And while this is not the most difficult song to sing - Floor says that Everdream is the most challenging one - it is definitely not an easy song to sing. It also doesn't add up with them saying how some transitions from head voice into belting is difficult to do.. see their open mouths at 25:30... yet he says it is a fairly simple song to sing - what a joke
Me thinking: I am practicing this song for a year and I am not even close... And I am def not a bad singer. But saying this song is simple??? You guys are nuts.
Floor performed Ghost Love Score close to the end of a 2ish hour long show. It's a vocally challenging song and the fact that she sang it so beautifully after already singing for an hour or more is incredible.
It's so damn American. It's not their fault but the American music industry having a massive nepotism problem up until recently so basically no American has ever heard any metal from anywhere outside America, Britain or Australia. Hence Evanescence is literally the only female fronted metal they ever heard that isn't growling. 😑 I *love* Amy but they're not even in the same genre ffs...
@@F1rstWorldNomaD As an American i wholeheartedly agree. The problem most americans have is apathy. Our requirement for "good" music has been jaded for some time. When i first heard Nightwish last year, i felt as if my faith in music had been returned. They are one of the few bands that are on the same level as RUSH. Pure artists, no filler. Take care.
@@F1rstWorldNomaD if Floor & NW where American or even British they would be mega stars worldwide, but the U.S. music industry/media either is just ignoring them or is so self indulgent that they are not even aware of them, it's pathetic
They may or may not have point but key here I think is... this is what?... the 10th song in a 2 hour set or something? Live. THAT's the kind of context to put the performance in....
They should do a live concert and record it then upload it and see how they do. People favorite task is criticize, you should never take it personal since everyone likes to give opinions or criticize and that's it, just an opinion.
Hmmm, not sure what to think of it. Several times you pointed out that what she was doing is difficult (e.g. breath control, key changes and going from headvoice to full belt) and then saying its an easy song to sing. That does not seem to add up. Everyone here would be saying it is premature to draw any conclusions on this performance, though it is a very good entry into Nightwish, it by no means gives a full picture of her capabilities. For example: - Poet and the pendulem (serving the song and the emotions are dripping of the screen) - Shoemaker (complicated melody lines and going full operatic) - Yours is an empty hope (Death metal growls) - Hows the heart live, (comlicated melodylines) - Beste zangers, Vilja lied (German, Liedr) - Beste Zangers, Shallow (intimate Lady Gaga cover) - Ever dream (killer belts) - The devil and the deep dark ocean (Paradise by the dashboard light like performance between Floor and Marko, and Floor hitting E6)
@@js0988 That is because this is not the first time they were listening to this song, I think. They are just as 'fake' (for lack of a better word) as some of the other, overly positive, reactors.
Floor Jansen is a Dutch singer, singing in English with a Finnish band for 82+k audience, many of whom are German - this is from a festival in Germany called Wacken Open Air. And, no - this particular piece was not written with her in mind but was composed when Nightwish included Tarja Turunen in their ranks, and Tarja was a very operatic-oriented singer. Looking at your reaction and comments, I guess you might want to check Tarja's version of that same song. Oh, and this is like a #13 on a 16 song show...
We definitely will check out that performance! Thanks for the info, we’re certainly learning more about floor and nightwish after having reacting to this. Can’t wait to hear more!
You were the first vocal teachers of so many (that did) that didn't recognize that she's classicly trained soprano. She's choosing to use her voice in so many ways. Even growling in a another song.
She is not a classically trained soprano. Floor Jansen graduated from the Rockacademie ( the Rock Academy) in Tilburg, the Netherlands. She had one year of additional classical training.
My only disappointment in your reaction is that you talked about singers going flat but didn't also say that going flat can be an intentional stylistic choice to focus the listener on something else going on in the song.
This comment needs to be highlighted completely. Its not a flat note per se but rather a chosen way she controls the song to her mixed belt range where she can be a storyteller for the song lyrics. If she wanted to have stayed in her head voice she would have chosen to do so. The song was originally written for an operatic tone. Floor wanted to find a way to put her own storytelling into the words.
I would say that it is not entirely fair to compare Floor Jansen's performance to that of a solo artist. She is part of an ensemble, she sings the parts in the way they are composed as part of a complete performance, and while she certainly adds color and texture, she, like all the other members of the band, "stays in her lane". She can certainly do runs, trills and whatever vocal tricks that Dimash or the others are using. They were not part of the song composition or Tuomas' vision for what he wanted the finished product to sound like.
You want classic singing? Try out Floor Jansen: O mio babbino caro. Floor studied 4 years in the Dutch rock academy, and a further two years studying classical singing and musical theater at the conservatory. She's a self confessed vocal nerd with the lungs of a deep sea diver.
I don't want to disappoint you, but Floor isn't an opera singer and what Floor does isn't operatic singing by opera standards. She has her own style. Nice performance, though. @@RobvanGeloven Argumentum ad verecundiam. These people want clicks and subscriptions, so they are not 100% honest with their verdicts. So, even though they are experts that should be able to make a differentiated appraisal, they are very benevolent. Or did you ever have an analysis in which the song/film etc. was pulled to pieces? So, please stay realistic. I have seen lots of people performing this aria better than Floor. She does quite a decent job, but gives no reason to praise her over the top.
@@Nikioko perhaps, but I can't dissect her singing as well as people in "authority" do. Hence I rely on their judgement. And you're moving the goalpost: your original claim was she can't / doesn't sing opera by opera standards, which I and others disagree with. Now you're claiming others are better than her singing opera (which is probably true enough). Edit: the video I linked to does a good job of explaining the song, the technique and how well she performs. I take it you haven't looked at it?
They didn't write this music for her, She is a newer singer for the band and most of the songs you will see videos for on here she is singing songs that were written for the other 2 singers who have a completely different singing style to her. Also if you watch more you will see that floor can sing anything she wants to, and in any style that fits the song.
Floor Jansen does not lose colour in her voice. She sings every note deliberately. Everything in every NW song is composed down to the smallest details. She is in my eyes the best and most versatyle female singer on the planet
That is one of the reasons I gave a thumbs down and what really upset me was them interrupting during her singing. I expect more consideration than that from other singers. It was just plain rude as far as I'm concerned.
We have been told Floors own reaction to this performance agrees with us. She finds it easier to sing high than low. Live performances are never “perfect”
@@carolynwillis9737 I gave it a thumbs down aswell and completely agree with you. The only thing worse than bad reaction channels is when the reactors are singers and vocal coaches who clearly needs to study their own craft a lot more ;)
Not to mention how Toumas is the one who actually writes and composes everything, I mean that’s just beyond impressive, esp when u put it all together with these incredible people! I will never get over my first time seeing The Greatest Show on Earth, i still get goosebumps and cry lol
These two remind me of the stuck up snotty singers who worked at Disney. They always seem to know more than any other people but yet never achieve the heights that the people they criticize do.
I understand it. It's because of their limited experience listening to symphonic metal, so much they don't even know it's a genre ("it's a female singer singing in like, rock, "classical" is the wrong word, but she is singing in a classical way"). Some other vocal teachers also use Evanescence as an example. They're still wrong, but they don't have anything else to compare to it.
True. I dont like it when ppl hear music and then reference it to the band that they know. No hate on Amy Lee and her band but they couldve used symphonic gothic metal or gothic rock instead. It sounded like floor and jansen is the finnish version of evanescence. NO IT IS NOT DEAR.
The first couple angelic-sounding lines she's singing from the view of a joyful siren. The next few lines she's singing as a mere human who once was enchanted by the siren and is trying to keep the spirit alive but clearly misses it very much. What you called "losing some color" communicated that emotional shift to me even before I read the text.
Floor is trained in musical theater technique and opera technique (at least for 1 year). In total Floor had studied 6 years of vocal technique. And she is singing for more then 25 years. if.I have it correct she was also performing with her first band After foe Ever during her study. She's also a huge vocal technique nerd.
C & M...Interesting reaction. The song was not written for her. It was an hour into an outdoor concert with a crowd of 82K. One song is a starting point, react to others please. The Amy Lee thing is fine, we ( Nightwish Army ) hear it often. I think Amy is great. I also think Floor has more range and power. A lot of Dimash talk on a not Dimash video, I'm sure his Dears would mention it if the situation was reversed. Pretty sure Gabriel will be here with a band history and song list. The NW Army will stop by with a request or two. Welcome to the NW community and enjoy. All we want are honest reactions. Try another song or two. Be well.
This is funny because when they first reacted to Dimash, his fans were not happy with their comments, LOL. I guess they always make a bad first impression?
I agree idk why they keep talking about Dimash in a NightWish song and keep the comparison.. Btw saying that is an easy song to sing i mean.. wtf.. It's clearly that they are Dimash die hard fans..
Ghost love score fairly simple to sing? Would you guys be so kind to do a cover of this song for us? Do you even have an idea of who are you criticizing?
Floor actually does a reaction herself to the video since so many people have reacted where she talks through it. She does mention at one point it goes a bit low for her where she doesn't have as much power. It was written for the bands first singer Tarja and the two singers do it very differently. A few fans can get a bit... overprotective in the face of any criticism but don't be put off most of us are friendly and just want to share the music we enjoy. Floor herself says she is not a machine and not perfect.
I really loved floors reaction. Her saying she’s not a machine like you said makes me respect her more. She is a beautiful singer but knows she has limits and I believe this performance really boosted her self-confidence and made her love singing with Nightwish
No one mentioned that the Ghost love score comes after 1 hour and 10 minutes of the concert. What endurance of the voice, stamina... Floor is incredible.
Easy song to sing? In front of 82.000 people? After singing 80 minutes? Are you kiddding? There is no better way to disqualify yourself as a voice teacher!
@@petergimbergsson1109 Exactly that‘s the point! If it is so easy...proove it! But not only the vocal lines...I mean everything! The light headvoice/mix at the beginning, the rich chestvoice, the rasp and dirty rock/metal singing, the operatic singing and last but not least the immense power of her belts! If this is so easy...do it! And...I almost forgot it...I expect the same charisma and crowdcontrol Floor has! Should be no problem for these two...they say it‘s easy! Look at her channel and the other reactions they‘ve made...always the same thing...massive numbers of 👎! Because they have a different opinion? I don‘t think so! The reason is, they are disrespectful and the viewers feel that!
I had to go back cause I wasn't sure I heard this correct. Easy song to sing PFFF.. I challenge these two to sing it - including all the mixes and transitions that they themselves described as difficult to do - after singing the same songs she did at Wacken2013, this was the 13th song of the set list. And then I am not even talking about entertaining 82.000 people by doing windmills and dancing around. Armchair critics !
Exactly, also it's a 10 minute song where she is constantly changing styles: mixed, chest, opera, voice with distortion, belting,... Always pitch perfect and with impeccable technique. And again, like you said, after having been singing for over an hour.
There are two reasons why this voice teacher reaction may be my favorite. First, you're comment regarding English not being a singer's first language affects vowel pronunciation. Great comment! This is probably true for Floor but it's also her due to her impeccable vocal technique. Second, I 100% agree with your comment regarding people fighting over who the best singer is. Music is subjective. Everyone (who can truly sing) will have a place in someone's heart. For me, Floor is one of the most gifted, versatile singers on the planet. She can literally sing anything. FYI, this song was very near the end of the setlist. To be able to belt a note at the end of this song after a pretty grueling setlist, is incredible.
I absolutely agree with you! I love that you said that each singer will have a place in someone's heart. This is the beauty of music, it effects all of us differently!
@@ChaseandMelia Agree completely. Take Nightwish here for example. I enjoy all three singers as each one brought their own thing to the band. However Floor is my absolute favorite of the three but that does not diminish anything from the other two's abilities and sound they brought to the group.
A good point to make is that Floor had just joined the band, she wasn't supposed to perform at this concert, and this song was recorded near the end of a very long set... It's kind of a miracle that it came together so well.
As I write, this reaction video has 11430 views. This is the response from the Nightwish army; we come to celebrate the great music with you. A lot of the Nightwish army are Floor Jansen disciples, so to speak; we love her singing; we live for her voice. Her voice quite literally saved my life; the beauty and majesty and mastery of her voice spoke to my soul at a time that I needed. Some call her a siren or a Valkyrie, or even a goddess; not because she sings perfectly, but because she sings with feeling. She is an empath; she feels the words and the music deeply, and sings what she feels. THAT is why she evokes such powerful feelings in her followers. At least that is why I watch people react every night before I sleep; another person or people get to hear and possibly feel her magic.
I love how floor took this song and made it her own, the original with Tarja is also good but her version takes it to the next level. You definitely need to check out more
Simple song to sing? I respectfully ask you to sing this song if you think it’s simple. Not to forget that she sang this song after 80 minutes singing in front of more than 80.000 fans.
Simple doesn't mean easy. People are not being genuine here. He said himself simple doesn't mean easy. The song is, in all fairness, simple in design. It's, in a way, a masterclass. A good demonstration of big, solid, expected techniques. Hard to pull off, but well known and part of "the tools" in vocal artistry. Very much like painters will make their own oil colours to create a palette. Not easy, but a key technique.
@@k.v.7681 They simply said that “ she didn’t impressed them so much like WOW “ but she sang fairly and beautiful. I mean... what you expect from her?? To sing at the TOP of her range from the beginning to end of the concert?? They don’t appreciate artists enough tbh 🙂 Btw thanks for your explanation
This song was not written for Floor. Floor learned their set list in 48 hours. Keep listening. I see Gabriel has been here, he's got the lore. For recent, she's done a version of Heart's Alone, and Let It Go from Frozen. She also has a video where she does sing straight opera. Bella Mio. She also does a version of Ave Maria. By all mean, though, check out her Nightwish stuff, too. And she gives a Vocal Masterclass on her own channel. You guys may enjoy it. Be aware....the Nightwish Army has noticed you, and we do love our Viking Goddess, our Valkyrie. It's a thing. You may run into some folks that are...fans. As in fanatical. It's just the way things are.
Prepare to batten down the hatches - that's all I can say! Although I would add that you're giving out mixed messages - you say you're not nit picking or overly criticising when you obviously are and you're making comparisons with Dimash and Morissette - adding that this was a "simple song" to sing - in my earlier life I used to sing some very complicated sacred and secular pieces and this definitely isn't "EASY" to sing - especially after a previous hour of demanding vocals! Please accept my apologies as I really don't want to sound patronising but whilst you are both very knowledgeable in the singing/musical fields - you need a few more years of experience. I'm not suggesting for one moment that Floor Jansen is the best singer in the world - and she would be the first to admit she has bad days. But I suppose what I'm trying to say is that you should see more of her solo material aswell outside of Nightwish before you criticise. If you do wish to pursue this - I suggest her songs on a Dutch TV singing show called "Beste Zangers" , also her own RUclips channel - where you will find her own coaching snippet videos - ( there is a professional opera singer who has his own RUclips channel who says he has learnt a lot from Floor) and other songs! No offence meant!
The funny thing is, they say in the video ' they made this song for her and it fits her style. The real world: floor sings other peoples songs, live a lot better then the originals. And it was only one of her styles. And this is only one opinion from all reactors. Ghost love score from wacken is the most reacted on youtube, we know why...
Oh man. I wanted to make fun of your obvious limitations in recognizing artistical choices and the reasons Floor made them, yet I m feeling sad now. Not sure if your judgements have been made too quick or with a lacking ability to relate to the music. Sad to see people having technical skills without having appropriate emotional access to the artistic aspects. Wish you the best for your future,
For me a huge difference between Dimash and Floor/Nightwish is that Dimash's music is written to be impressive and extravagant, and sure he sings technically perfect. While Floor and Nightwish's music is written to tell stories and evoke emotions. Both are great at their craft, but I would listen to Nightwish and Floor any day of the week. But a fine reaction I would recommend you to listen to more Floor I don't think you will be disappointed.
Um... You must have missed Dimash's kazakh songs as none of those were written to be extravagant and is all about telling a story and conveying emotions. Try Qairan Elim, Amanat or Samaltau.
@@Gadeberg90 Guess that depends on the person listening, who will feel the song and who will not. Which is why I think it is completely pointless to compare artists. It is like arguing over which fruit is the best... It depends on your taste.
Not very diplomatic there saying you shouldn't compare singers and then go ahead and do that anyway. Having heard just one song did not help with that either. And I love when Americans start criticizing how foreign singers pronounce stuff, I'm sure what Brits think of your English skills. :)
Hi Melia and Chase. There are literally 10’s of thousands of Nightwish and Floor “super” fans (myself included) that will feel an obvious sting when hearing anything negative about them. The fact is that only a tiny percentage of viewers are looking for in-depth voice lessons on a reaction channel. If you research authentic “vocal coaches” with 150,000 subscribers and more, you’ll discover that they accentuate the positive elements of the artist’s performance. Keep in mind that when you get recommendations, it’s usually from someone who really likes the performance and wants to share it with you. It just seemed to me that you were listening intently to find something to criticize. Check out some reactions from The Charismatic Voice, Julia Nilon, or Rebecca Vocal Athlete. You both have good vocal knowledge and I wish you success in your reactions.
Yep, as soon as the Evanescence comparison happened after the first verse I knew what I was in for. I haven't seen many other reactions so harsh. The Charismatic Voice is the gold standard for technical reactions!
Agreed. I think Melia and Chase should go back for an extra term or 2 at ‘Singing Coach Reacts School’, maybe by looking at Elizabeth (The Charismatic Voice) or the excellent Julie Nilon. These two are overly nit-picky in a way that comes across as mean spirited. As someone else made this comparison, Floor is the Roger Federer (and maybe the Nadal and Djokovic) of contemporary rock singers, and as such, when I hear this kind of mean-spirited response I think, let’s look at YOUR recording history and your performances in front of tens of thousands of fans. Besides this, Floor, more than any other singer, creates an involuntary reaction in me (and just about anyone who hears her) with just the sound of her voice - a reaction of incredible emotional resonance with the music. That is the singer’s job and she does it better than anyone I’ve heard.
@@radi0aktivetoy Same girl same. I do not understand that instant knee-jerk reaction comparison to Amy Lee. They do have physical similarities and they’re both singers but it shouldn’t take more than a few lines to spot the difference. I don’t want to drag Amy down but I am not a fan of her vocals as a rule and that’s all I will say about that. Oops, I see you’re a guy sorry about that same girl same comment. Same guy same! Anyway I don’t think it’s a bad thing to put in some less than positive comments but it just struck me as “she’s an OK singer and the song is OK but you should really check out Daemas and Alanis Morissette if you want examples of really really good singing. And this after saying that there’s no point in comparing singers. Yes I know they weren’t talking about Alanis Morissette I am just being purposely obtuse.
Loved this reaction. But i really recommend headphones when doing musical reactions - dead mic or not. Great music deserves better than being reacted to on a laptop speaker, and the viewers of the video shouldn't have to listen to the speaker echo being recorded :-)
especially if it sounds so metallic. A couple of cheap speakers with built in amp would have done a better job. If you want to talk proficiently about music, you need to actually hear the music, not static....
The difference between Nw and others is that, when they are in a tour, they sing 2, 3 times/week in different locations, not 1 concert/year. I think, this tour was started in 2012 and was finished in 2013. You can't compare 25 years of live performances with somebody with 3 concerts.
To clarify; can one find singers who are technically superior to Floor? Sure! You can fill multiple stadions of them, I'm sure. You'll have a tougher time finding one who's voice can kick me in the gut and kiss my cheek at the same time.
Floor is from the Netherlands, currently lives in Sweden with her husband (Hannes Van Dahl, the drummer from Sabaton) and is most well known for being the current lead singer for a Finnish symphonic metal band, Nightwish. Everything Floor does in a musical performance, how she sounds, how she moves, what she wears, etc is by design
Floor did a 1st she reacted to herself singing this and explains everything you were talking about . Even if you don't do a reaction to it may I suggest you do it in private and get to know Floor the person. She has her own U Tube channel you can find it there, Floor is a vocal coach and has 25 years singing and she always sings safe
Welcome to symphonic metal. Prepare to hear more insane vocals (not only from Floor) and epic score-like sound from this band, because you will get a lot of suggestions for other songs.
Quite nice reaction vid and I saw a lot about Nightwish, Dimash and Morisette and it is funny to see all the Americans all the time compare the music. Even u guys compare and say something like the song is easy to sing … or not that vocal athletic … . And next before talking about abilities you should give more songs a try. She sings over 3 octave too and can growl. And her voice become even better as older she gets. Personally u never can compare singer pros all knew her instrument but the success comes from the transport … so that is where we all subjective and differently. For me is for example dimash totally boring … he is perfectly singing but he did not touch me … where with Floors voice I have quite often tears.
Floor has FOUR Octaves to play with. Nothing she does is left to chance. Her longevity in the business (23 years) and her list of collaborations with other bands) speaks for itself. She will be going strong when Dimash has blown his vocal cords out and is long forgotten. When she does a cover version, it's like the original artist surrenders the song to her. Unlike Dimash, she serves the *song* - not the reverse.
Hi Chase and Melia. Enjoyed your reaction, I know I've been on your case about this for a while...😉 Floor is indeed a vocal coach herself and she's Dutch. The band is Finnish. You were absolutely right, she uses her voice to fit the song, which is something I prefer over vocal gymnastics. She can do it all though, full opera, pop or rock singing or even full on growling. Saying that this was a simple song to sing, is a bit of an understatement in my opinion. To put it in perspective, this was the 13th song of that show, well over an hour into a very demanding, energetic performance. Now I wouldn't call that simple... If you want to hear something more recent, try 'Shoemaker' from the latest album. There are no live recordings of that yet, as the album was released in April 2020 and Nightwish hasn't been able to tour yet. There is a lyric video though. ruclips.net/video/Rjp_DfvJimg/видео.html If you want to hear her sing in an acoustic setting, listen to 'How's The Heart' ruclips.net/video/yYtkPpFYzOo/видео.html By the way, you pronounced my name perfectly! Greetings from the Netherlands.
Floor is dutch, her husband is Swedish n her band is Finish. If you watch show called Beste Zenger 2019 you can see Floor sung in Spanish, Germany n Dutch. And GLS is track list no 13 out of 16 at the concert. Not to mentioned the windmill she always do.
Floor is extremely versatile. As you noticed she changes range, style etc within a song, let alone from song to song. And don't be surprised along the way - Nightwish has a wide array of songs from really heavy ones, to soft ballads, to those with celtic to some with jazzy vibe etc. Every song tends to be different and yet, as time goes by, one still recognizes most of them to be a NIghtwish song. Romanticide from the same Wacken 2013 concert gives a great example of her octave range (around 3 and half altogether), while Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires shows Marco's singing too and her sometimes insane vocals. It's quite theatrical. From Wacken 2013 Song of Myself, Ghost River are good ones. Yours Is An Empty Hope from Wembley 2015 shows her growl. True death metal growl. Poet and the Pendulum is one of longest, most emotional Nightwish songs and for that one, you need the backstory, composed of 5 parts. The Greatest Show on Earth is the longest one and I suggest TAmpere 2015 for that one. Check out the lyrics for that one in advance, because the composer, Tuomas, planned to be a biologist and actually got into Uni (highly competitive in Finland) to study biology, so the lyrics are full of biology terms. From Buenos Aires Dead Boy's Poem, Slayer the Dreamer and 10th Man down. From Tampere 2015 Stargazers, 'Weak Fantasy, Sleeping Sun and The Islander to let Marco shine. And most of these songs were not written for Floor. Songs from the Album Endless Forms Most Beautiful are the first ones written for Floor so from the songs above, only Weak Fantasy and Greatest Show on Earth have been written for her. But to dwell more on Floor. Vilja Lied from Beste Zangers is a good example of her classical style. Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort is A MUST!!! from the same show. Alike from Beste Zangers Shallow, About Love I Don't Know a Thing, Mama, Que Se Siente, Winner - all different in style. To hear her voice truly, How's The Heart and Nemo acoustic versions on Planet Rock. Both are Nightwish songs. How's the Heart was written for her, Nemo not. Her latest solo songs are something to check out too. They are covers, although Floor is a song writer too and has done her own music in After Forever, ReVamp and Northward. Adagio, Alone, Euphoria, Oblivion. The War Child is simple, but can make one cry, even the Dutch version one doesn't understand a word. For Christmas, O Holy Night (Oi Joulyö) or Ave Maria with Marco. For a classical aria O Mio Babbino Caro. Sancta Terra and Stabat Mater with Epica. And for you, the latest Nightwish album Human II Nature might be an interesting listen. It's not a concept album per se, but still the songs are linked to each other both lyrically and musically. Music basically tells the history of music and shows yet another style of singing (melismatic I think) by Floor, Pan and Tribal are heavier ones. Shoemaker is, well, different, and the end has left tens of reactors speechless. But for that, check out the story of Eugenie Shoemaker before listening to it. Noise has a pretty cool music video. Quite a few still wait for the live versions, the album came out just before the pandemic really hit, a little over a year ago, so there hasn't been any concerts yet.... And after a while you'll realize what it takes for a singer to survive a Nightwish concert, so the you might understand a little bit better the feat Floor does live. And check out her master classes!
Please try to avoid comparing singers. You did, at one point, say that singers can't be compared, but then continured to do it. We hear the Amy Lee comparisons over and over again after one song, usually from reviews from the States. By the time reactors have reached 3 or 4 reactions, however, that comparison has disappeared. I know you are voice coaches, but sometimes it is just more enjoyable to sit back and listen, and take the song for what it is.
Oh my goodness, 1 minute in and I was ready to subscribe to you guys (I usually wait 3 or more videos) but at 8:40 I quickly pressed the button. You guys are so nice, have great smiles, chill, knowledgeable, that shirt tells me you have a good sense of humor, and you're not going to get into the ridiculous fights of "who's better?" THANK YOU! Just Love music, skill, the ability to bring out emotion.
Valkyrie Queen spotted! Gabriel Bardac entered ! Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia reporting in. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than three octaves D3 to F6 and if you dig deep , she has a league of her own ( being a vocal coach herself ). Lets see what comes next...We are on standby mode.
One thing about Nightwish as a whole: Each member serves the music. They are all extremely skilled, but don't try to show off, they do what the piece requires them to do. Everything Floor does is very deliberate. Same with for instance the guitarist Emppu; his solo in this song might not impress some metal guitar fans, but it's exactly what it's supposed to be, executed expertly with precision.
Great reaction. What I found funnie is regadering this a simple song and you both had a bunch of moments being surprised at the diffulculty of what she vocally did....
I think the biggest problem with these two vocal coaches is that they lack performance experience. They don't really have the capacity to understand caliber of talent that singers like Floor, Dimash, and Morissette are. Singers like those practice for endless hours and when they take to the stage they make decisions based on years of real world experience and it's hard to relate to that unless they've done it themselves. These two are always touting their degrees yet more experienced vocal coaches never seem to do that in their videos or in their comments trying to prove themselves.
To quote Marko from Decades version of I Want My Tears Back... "It's coming" And by it, I mean the Nightwish Army, one of the most devoted fanbases for any band as far as I can tell. As others have said, this is quite far into a very demanding setlist, which less than one year earlier, Floor managed to learn in just 48 hours. There's an entire documentary about her entry into Nightwish (Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours). I stumbled onto Nightwish due to reaction channels and have been in awe of the band ever since. Anyway, welcome to the Nightwish community, Arizona Division of the NW Army checking in. 🇺🇲 🌵
Me too. Remember the old saying. Those who can, do. Can these people control their vibrato the way Floor does? Never heard of them... I don't mind criticism but it has to be from people who know what they are talking about. Try Julia Nilon or Beth Roars, peoplecwho really know what they are talking about. No real technical content here.
@@Nimoch1 Indeed, and I watch Rebecca and Elizabeth too. Elizabeth more than Rebecca I have to admit due to Rebecca's excessive use of ".com" and "hashtag" which I find irritating.
@@Nimoch1 If they said they didn't like your favorite band I'm sure you'd start hating on them too though. You people are just too sensitive and ego-driven.
They always compare it to Evanescence because that's the only frame of reference Americans often have. Amy Lee is great, Evanescence is great, but there are SOOOOOO many bands with women singers and it's not *rude* to compare it to Evanescence, it just kinda makes some of us go, "oh, my sweet summer child." Like, if Evanescence is all you can think of when you hear this, you have sooooooo much ahead of you! So much great music waiting for you to experience! :)
Is it rude? Of course not. But it does show a lack of knowledge of other female fronted rock/metal/symphonic metal bands. If Amy Lee is the 1st thing that come to mind when hearing Floor sing most likely means it's the only other female fronted metal band youve heard.
You said yourself that's silly to compare, but then you keep comparing and tried eagerly to please your precious "Dear" fans (absolutely no need to). The truth is, that Floor killed your mic and that's all that counts 😉. Welcome to the wonderful world of symphonic metal and Nightwish. You should check Floor's Masterclass videos on her YT channel, where she explains her techniques. They are very informative and entertaining, and you might even learn something new (she even reacted to this performance herself and explained her singing choises). Greetings from Finland! ⛄👍
We’re definitely going to check out her videos, we’d love to hear her speak on her technique! It’s fascinating hearing how a vocalist approaches a performance, so we’re really glad she’s shared that with her audience! Thanks for the comment and feedback! ☺️
Oh Floor couldnt teach these 2 anything... they're American, they know everything. And if they havnt heard it or discovered it, it must not be any good
@@simonhinkel4086 I don't think that the question of positivity or negativity is what they were getting at. But, I understand your point as well. There's so much that gets lost in regards to the spoken and written word, that when you can't hear tone or expression, the reader is left with their own suppositions to "fill in the blanks." And, there's the rub. Simply put, I believe that what Peter is saying is these two talk too much lol. I wouldn't read a lot into it. Public forums are just one big "op-ed" sort of thing anyway. These two are "teachers/coaches," and that's the flavor of their critique (but then again, that's just my own suppositions...see what I'm getting at?). Hell, my own initial comment is an example. I can see where it could be taken as a personal insult. It wasn't meant to be. Rather, it was just myself relating what I got out of their reaction.
@@drew65sep well, it's called a reaction. They listen and they give their professional opinion as teachers. Just because other teachers don't say anything while watching and just say something nice at the end doesn't mean that's how such a vid is supposed to be like. Giving them shit for pointing out some missed tones or not knowing the whole history of nightwish is the best way to ensure, they will never react to anything else of nightwish again^^
I REALLY hope your takeaway from the comments is not that you somehow "can't criticize Nightwish or Floor Jansen". I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say we're fine with technical or stylistic criticisms. What we DON'T like is that it seems like you guys were hunting for things to criticize, or assuming stylistic choices were mistakes/failings. I've watched 40 or 50 vocal coaches react to this exact performance (many of whom were classically trained), and not once have I heard these particular criticisms. Also, comparing Jansen to Amy Lee is like comparing Rush to The Doors. Like, they're both great rock bands, but on a technical level they're not really in the same league, you know?
As a big Nightwish fan, I enjoy hearing musically educated people offer some criticism once and a while, so it was refreshing to hear your reaction. As others have mentioned, this song wasn't written when she was their singer, so she added a bit of her own flavor to it. Floor goes between classical and modern styles often in her performance, while their original singer (Tarja) was almost pure classical. Even the high note at the end was something Floor added that wasn't in the original. On another note: If you'd like a sample of many of the best metal singers in one song, I would suggest the song/video "The Day that the World Breaks Down" by Ayreon. There are 11 singers on that song from various other bands like Dream Theater, Blind Guardian, Kamalot, etc... It was one of my covid lockdown discoveries and it basically let me to explore a lot of new bands. The Ayreon project was put together by Dutch songwriter/musician Arjen Lucassen back in the 90s, and all his albums feature a connected storyline with many metal/rock singers playing specific characters on each album. Also you will never hear a better sung line of binary code (0101....) than in The Day that the World Breaks Down.
Ya know that’s actually a really good point when u realize how much she DID add to this song when u hear both singers, that for me makes it even more impressive and more amazing! Same thing with Storytime and Poet and the pendulum with Anette.. she just makes everything better lol
Arjen: "Hey, Michael, here's your line: '11010110 0011010 ...' Let 'er rip!" And Michael sends that part back? Come on! How often do you get a performer to just drop something like that when you give them free reign? Pure friggin' genius!
Nothing in her vocals is a mistake, it is all intentional to the timing and tempo progressions as you will see. She is a vocal Master. Timing, Control, projection and breath control are off the charts. True Master.
This concert had 16 songs. "Ghost Love Score" was the 13th song of the concert. I am amazed Floor still has this much power after belting 12 previous songs, head banging, windmilling and dancing all along. As time goes on, and you are exposed more and more to Floor's awesome talent you will realize she is world class (and in multiple genres.) She will continue to amaze you. Thanks for the critique and insights! By the way you are voicing your opinions on the spot. They are not "negative." They are evaluations, not judgements.
After watching several reactions form legit vocal coaches and professional operasingers this clip is by now more of a means to judge the quality of voice teachers who react. I notice that you are by a mile missing to lay emphasis on the things that almost all other professionals do. It is quite telling. Maybe too smithen by Dimash?
Bro. Be chill. Everyone’s perspective is different because everyone is different. The fact that they don’t ace some imaginary benchmark assessment on their first listen that you have imagined in your head doesn’t mean anything. They obviously enjoyed the performance (the music as well as Floor’s vocals) and provided well articulated commentary from a clear foundation of experience. Everyone is entitled to their opinion (including you), but attacking someone personally is petty. I say this as a huge Nightwish fan, who doesn’t enjoy Dimash (I respect him, but his music doesn’t fit my preference). You need to figure out how to convey your thoughts without being an ass. The only thing you accomplish with uncalled for comments like this is turning people away from listening to more Nightwish.
I hear what you're saying Nick, but there was no personal attack here - not that I could see anyway. Just a critique of a critique. As you rightly say, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm sure our friends here will see it as such!
Finally, HONEST vocal coaches and not fake ones who will say anything the radical fans want to hear just to earn some new subscribers. You have earned my respect \m/
Nightwish is an incredible band that tends to send shivers to the hearts of their fans.
Bruce Lee said: Correct a fool, and you get hated. Correct a wise person, and you get loved. Or something similar :)
Great comment!
You always spot on girl, cheers to you \m/
Only turns ugly when people say dumb shit like , "its an easy song " nothing difficult here.... well go on show us how floor should do it then.
29:05 "They are writing the music for her" - dude, this song was published 8 years before Floor even joined the band.
and that's not something you know when you make a first reaction video
I saw nightwish like 2 weeks ago they had an hour and half long show , and she sang!! While being 7 months pregnant!!!!! SHE IS INSANE!!!!
You can tell that’s true! What a talented musician and vocalist, We’re excited to hear more of her!
@@ChaseandMelia there is a lot to explore. Welcom into the Nightwish train
You are talking bolloxs, too
You mentioned about them writing this song for her, no songs at this concert were written with her in mind.
And she only had 48 hours to learn the WHOLE setlist.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer.
You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol "
Hoping you'll continue this journey with us, I'll drop here a list of songs (with links) with the current lineup of the band you may like (please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and not as something mandatory):

The links presented above are with the current singer of the band, Floor Jansen, since I'm a fan of the recent era of the band, with Floor as the singer. @@martine3293 :) Nice to find you here, Martine. Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to see the whole reaction before I posted the comment.
@@gabriel.bardac No worries. I know you'll always be along at some point. Be well!
Gabriel, you are so f***ing fast as a shark, dude! GREAT!!!
Nightwish don't perform to show off. Each band member, Floor included, does what the song requires. You won't get wild solos or showing off.
Love it! I think that’s awesome she reacts to herself, would love to hear her thoughts and explanations!

Stage presence and storytelling, my god yes..
Ya, I turned them off after that comment.
If it is simple they can sing it and lets see :)

@@nightwitchtarot2379 How can someone that young be a vocal coach ? Or shall I say a decent vocal coach. Those who can - do, those who cant - teach
Floor performed Ghost Love Score close to the end of a 2ish hour long show. It's a vocally challenging song and the fact that she sang it so beautifully after already singing for an hour or more is incredible.
Lol 2 kids review a vocally coach for 20 years and one of the best metal female singers
So funny that people always Compare Floor with Amy Lee.
Amy Lee wish she could sing like Floor Jansen 😂😂
Totally agree!!
Agree 100%
It's so damn American.
It's not their fault but the American music industry having a massive nepotism problem up until recently so basically no American has ever heard any metal from anywhere outside America, Britain or Australia.
Hence Evanescence is literally the only female fronted metal they ever heard that isn't growling.
😑
I *love* Amy but they're not even in the same genre ffs...
Take care.
@@F1rstWorldNomaD if Floor & NW where American or even British they would be mega stars worldwide, but the U.S. music industry/media either is just ignoring them or is so self indulgent that they are not even aware of them, it's pathetic
thats prob world record of dislikes in Nightwish videos
As soon as you brought up Evanescence it was clearly going to be a bumpy ride.
True
Floor -"Ghost love score is one of the hardest songs i have to sing"
These two - " this is a fairly simple song too sing"
Haha right?
It's easy judging from your couch. Back seat drivers 🤣
simple doesnt mean easy..
For example:
- Poet and the pendulem (serving the song and the emotions are dripping of the screen)
- Shoemaker (complicated melody lines and going full operatic)
- Yours is an empty hope (Death metal growls)
- Hows the heart live, (comlicated melodylines)
- Beste zangers, Vilja lied (German, Liedr)
- Beste Zangers, Shallow (intimate Lady Gaga cover)
- Ever dream (killer belts)
- The devil and the deep dark ocean (Paradise by the dashboard light like performance between Floor and Marko, and Floor hitting E6)
Yeah well said 🤟
Well, it really is not one of the hardest Nightwish songs singing-wise :-) I think e.g. Storytime is quite challenging.
Also note they are listening on a MacBook without headphones, it's a wonder they're not mistaking her for a man!
@@js0988 That is because this is not the first time they were listening to this song, I think. They are just as 'fake' (for lack of a better word) as some of the other, overly positive, reactors.
It was quite a confusing and contradictory reaction 🤔 just saying.....
Floor is CLASSICALLY TRAINED !
@@ChaseandMelia check out poet and pendulum from wembly and greatest show on earth from tampere(also the islander from tampere)
Nightwish aren't just a band. They're a spiritual journey and I am proud to be a part of that journey.
My only disappointment in your reaction is that you talked about singers going flat but didn't also say that going flat can be an intentional stylistic choice to focus the listener on something else going on in the song.
this!
agree. but i think they don't know it better.
Going flat is strange to say in a song like this. Ask the 1200 people why
She's also singing in front of 80,000 people outside and only joined the band halfway through the tour and was still leaning the songs.
An interesting thing that can give you a little more context is that this song was the 13th song in a 15 songs set. ^^
Yeah that is just crazy!!! 🤯
They performed at 22:45 - 00:15 so this song was Approx midnight!
Floor and marko doing Ave Maria, or floors and Henk port doing phantom of the opera
I don't want to disappoint you, but Floor isn't an opera singer and what Floor does isn't operatic singing by opera standards. She has her own style. Nice performance, though.

Yes exactly
No, it's nothing like Evanescence.

@@christopherlidster3918 So many symphonic goth metal bands and they compare Floor to Amy Lee. 😂
Evanescence 🤭
Thats why you two are Padawan Learners and She is a Jedi Master.......

Mmm.... do they know that? I like to see their opinions. And you see that they do change their opinions during the song.
“There’s nothing truly incredible happening now…”
Stand by
There are two reasons why this voice teacher reaction may be my favorite.
You: "Music is subjective"
Also you: "...(who can truly sing)..."
Lmao bishY
You definitely need to check out more
Nightwish? instant click and thumb up
Simple song to sing?
They don’t appreciate artists enough tbh 🙂
Btw thanks for your explanation
Let's see YOU sing this "simple" song. 😂
Like this comment up, please!
I would love to see as they sing this "easy" song XD
And sing that well after 1hour and 45 minutes of an metal concert! She migth be not perfect but she is very very close to it! ;)
if they could they wouldnt have time with a reaction chanel.
Watch more of Floor Jansen besides Nightwish. She can do everything. Learn more about her and than let me see your reactions.
Amen to that.
Lol not much vocal gymnastics... They really need to listen to Shoemaker! Then try and say that there was not much for vocal gymnastics.
There’s a video of her performing a Puccini aria that’s well worth watching.
How is it an honest reaction if you go into it with a predisposition?
This song was preformed after 12 songs in the concert.... Her breath control is superrior
42 years old, 15 years older than Demash or Morressette, so I would say they are following her. This only the first song you have heard,, wait.....
Floor Jansen never fails to give me goosebumps or tears. She is the best medicine for my soul :)
Well these two obviously didn’t like here floors voice.
This is like hearing marital advice from a self proclaimed marriage counselor , who has never been married .
What is evans essence?
Ha, I see what you did there.
Evanescence band from EEUU. A similar vibes with Nightwish, particulary in this song. You can check!
@@Morning_star11419 seriously?
Thats it!
Um... You must have missed Dimash's kazakh songs as none of those were written to be extravagant and is all about telling a story and conveying emotions. Try Qairan Elim, Amanat or Samaltau.
@@Sorgesol Fair enough they weren't that vocally impressive, but to me they were just boring. I guess they just aren't my type of music.
@@Gadeberg90 Guess that depends on the person listening, who will feel the song and who will not. Which is why I think it is completely pointless to compare artists. It is like arguing over which fruit is the best... It depends on your taste.
@@Sorgesol True it all depends on ones taste.
Had the same feeling… Hope they realize who they are actually talking about.
Very well put. I also got the impression they thought giving critique meant 'find something to criticize'.
She is singing live and her voice is amazing
About 2/3 months after this concert Floor was on Dutch TV live singing a Puccini Aria .
I really respect how proffesional you two are!!!
Note: Considering this was her 13th song in this concert (15 total).
Well, that's pretty much the case for every band out there.
Floor herself says, she's not a robot....
Floor Jansen is Dutch. And you wish you had the range and breath support that she has.
Floor is a master of her instrument, every note is a choice
Welcome to symphonic metal. Prepare to hear more insane vocals (not only from Floor) and epic score-like sound from this band, because you will get a lot of suggestions for other songs.
Nightwish recorded their first album 6 years before evanescence.
Agree 100%
Agree 100%
Perfectly put!
!!!!!!!!!
@@aureliantides4823 Agree with Dimesh statement
There is a lyric video though. ruclips.net/video/Rjp_DfvJimg/видео.html
If you want to hear her sing in an acoustic setting, listen to 'How's The Heart' ruclips.net/video/yYtkPpFYzOo/видео.html
By the way, you pronounced my name perfectly! Greetings from the Netherlands.
Thank you for the suggestions!! So glad we finally got reacting to this, we were not disappointed!
@@ChaseandMelia an easy song to sing... my arse. Go for it , show Floor how it should be done ...
Agree 👏
Please try to avoid comparing singers. You did, at one point, say that singers can't be compared, but then continured to do it. We hear the Amy Lee comparisons over and over again after one song, usually from reviews from the States. By the time reactors have reached 3 or 4 reactions, however, that comparison has disappeared. I know you are voice coaches, but sometimes it is just more enjoyable to sit back and listen, and take the song for what it is.
Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards) is genious, called metal Mozart. He writes and composes almost all the songs.
They’ve also never performed in front of 80,000 fans lol
To quote Marko from Decades version of I Want My Tears Back...
"It's coming"
And by it, I mean the Nightwish Army, one of the most devoted fanbases for any band as far as I can tell.
If you watch Floor does a reaction to this song she explains how she sings this song and how she does everything on purpose
Your comparing singers at the end, and you said that's something you shouldn't. Sorry guys, too many contradictions for me. Moving on.
Me too. Remember the old saying. Those who can, do.
Can these people control their vibrato the way Floor does? Never heard of them...
I don't mind criticism but it has to be from people who know what they are talking about.

Yup
Just imagine if she’s doing all those different techniques on purpose... oh,wait... is she?
Floor has lungs of a deep-sea diver...
The way the life instruments blend into sounding like just one instrument. That’s the kind of Metal i like.
Nightwish's first album came out in 1997, evanescense in 2000, so you might as well say evanescense is like nightwish.
Arjen: "Hey, Michael, here's your line: '11010110 0011010 ...' Let 'er rip!"
And Michael sends that part back?
Search on RUclips master class with Floor Jansen.
Then you learn how to sing.
But isn’t Dimash an opera singer. Were as with floor she obviously isn’t an opera singer.
Couldn't have said it better myself!
Bro.
@@shspurs1342 So why to compare Floor to Dimash?
Btw. Floor is a Real Soprano too, but singing metal.
