1 if you will use a 2 gallon ziplock you can get the oil and spices more evenly and if you make them with the Mini Premium Saltines, use the same amount of everything except use 2 full boxes of the mini crackers. Great as an appetizer!

@@lindafox1454Hi. I don't think anyone answered, and I just saw your comment/question. I've made some different cracker recipes that call for coating in one spice mixture or another, and from my own experience, I would say remove from bag and place in another type of airtight container. Unless you're using seriously heavy-duty freezer type zipper bags, they're pretty porous and may allow the crackers to go stale in a shorter time.

These sound delicious... and addicting! I agree with the people advocating a 2 gallon bag. But also, to make mixing the spices and oil easier, why not add them directly to the oil in the measuring cup and then pouring that over the crackers in the bag? Better distribution and no spices hiding in the corners of the bag.

What an interesting Dish! 😊 I wonder how they would be with the spices mixed in the oil mixture and the oil spice mixture brushed on the crackers and baked. I love the idea of this. I bet they would be wonderful with a little Parmesan added and a splash of vinegar. I will have fun experimenting with this one. For some reason parsley sound good on it as well. And of course I'll try your all's version first. This one looks fun!

I made the premium saltines using 1⅔ cup of oil, ⅔ cup of Hersheys Cocoa, 1 cup of powdered sugar 1 tsp of instant coffee and about a tbs of very course ground sea salt. I used 2 boxes of the miniature crackers. They turned out really good, maybe a little wetter than these with the salt, pepper, ranch seasonings. They did soak up the oil good also. I don't know whether to love you or hate you for posting this recipe. You're right that they're addictive. I'm going to have to stop keeping saltines in the house or I'll continue making these, and I don't need the calories. I took bags of them to my family to try at Christmas and they loved them too. I decreased the oil just a bit to 1-1/2 cups and, because I like spicy foods, increased all the other ingredients to my liking. OMG!!! I don't have to have them with anything. They're so good all by themselves.

Merry Christmas Tom and Melissa... I just made these this morning for the the first time. My husband, who is truly is the cook in the family (although I do the baking/desserts etc), was watching me as he was preparing breakfast. At one point he stops and then says, "what are you doing??? those crackers are going to be mush!)...I said, "trust me" (as i was internally hearing you say, trust me). My husband then walks away...he then can't help himself and comes back a short time later..and the conversation is repeated. Later I asked him if he would like to take the first bite. He hesitated and I then said, "do they look soggy?". He then said, "no" 😒.. He took a bite and said, "what are these..they are great!" I ate one even though I am not a hot/spicy gal. I find them addicting. Our 4 kids are coming home today for Christmas...I know they will be a hit. THANK YOU!!!! Oh, and yesterday, I made your biscuits and sausage gravy or the first time, at age 59. I had never made it. Absolutely delicious!! THANK YOU!!

Did not have any ranch dressing mix, so I used four Zap Packs from Little Caesars pizza. Did not have pepper flakes so I used powdered cayenne pepper. Also threw in some powdered cheddar cheese and some hot sauce. Shook it all together in a Folgers coffee container.

    Ingredients:
1 pound breakfast sausage, such as Jimmy Dean (hot or mild)
1 (10-oz) can Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, undrained
1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, cut into pieces
    Instructions:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook sausage until crumbled and no longer pink. Drain. Add Rotel and cream cheese to skillet. Stir until cheese melts.
Serve warm with tortilla chips or even better, serve with Fire Crackers!!

My family will be traveling to be together for Thanksgiving. It is tradition that I bring homemade yummies when we all get together. I'm going to try the fire crackers this trip. 😋

I had to come find this recipe, since you mentioned it in the chicken noodle soup video. Sounds interesting! I make a cracker recipe that uses a bag of oyster crackers, a little bit of oil, a packet of that Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning, lemon pepper seasoning and dill weed seasoning, that we’ve liked for years. Sometimes we drink a glass of tomato juice along with it.

One of my favorite comfort snacks is butter on a Saltine. Elegant in it's simplicity and better than you imagine. I'm making these today and will experiment with the butter and let you know how that goes with an edit.

That was one of my favourite snacks back when I was a kid and then I remembered only recently, like 30 years later how good and simple it is.

IF YOU CAN NOT EAT THE WHOLE BAG, HOW DO YOU STORE LEFTOVERS AND FOR HOW LONG DO THEY KEEP

    • @janemartin229
      @janemartin229 Год назад +2

You can store them in the same bag or transfer to a clean bag if you want--sometimes you get the residue from the bag on your fingers when you reach into it! We've never had them go bad. They are addictive and you will eat them pretty quickly.

You were right...they're very "more-ish". and the 2x (garlic & onion) powder is much better. The 2 tblsp of cayenne pepper is also perfect for my level of spiciness. Now I have a whole pound for chili con carne.
